Diablo 4 crash my m2 disk so weird

Hello,

1 day ago I played World of Warcraft and 40 minutes ago play call of duty and exit the game. Then I wanted to enter Diablo 4. The game is installed and the additional package is pre-downloaded. I clicked play and a gray screen appeared and an error appeared and told me to scan and repair. I clicked that. It gave an error after 10 seconds. I didn’t understand and looked at the disk. The space it occupied on the disk was seen as 5 GB. Then there are Call of Duty and World of Warcraft in the same disk. The games are WD Blue 2 TB sn580 disk and there is 1 TB free space. I use it as a backup disk. It is not a system disk. But Call of Duty also appeared as 5 GB. My disk is visible in the device manager, but when I wanted to scan for errors by clicking on the disk properties, I got a device not found error.

I turned off and on the PC completely. It works fine, 135 GB Call of Duty is visible. Diablo is also normal. When I say play again, the same loop occurs and tells me to scan and repair. When I do that, it gives an error and the disk is not found again.

I turned the pc off and on again, first I played call of duty, then world of warcraft, I opened the disk’s program and it showed 100% health without any problems. Then when I entered diablo 4 again, the disk crashed again.

I turned it off and on again, this time I immediately deleted d4 completely and now I’m reinstalling it from the beginning.

Before this, only yesterday the battle net update had come. The pc was cleanly installed with windows 11 installed. And nothing like this had ever happened.

How could this happen? If my disk crashed, I wouldn’t be able to convince anyone. It’s a very strange and annoying situation.

Do you have Windows 11 24h2?

Mine started doing this after I’ve updated to 24h2. Every time I try to lunch D4 I get disk errors/files corrupted… I went back to 23h2 and everything is ok now.

Well that’s interesting.

I’ll look into this.

Please see the attached thread, as I’m looking for some info:

-Anyone running Windows 11 24H2 (new release)

If you return to your thread and read this, visit the thread above and see if you can answer the 3 questions.

Also let me know if deleting reinstalling fixes it or not.

Thanks,

Happened to me too but i found a solution, under game settings add -disableds under Additional command line arguments.

The problem is with direct storage. I don’t know why but i tried to reinstall the whole game and even windows but still hade the same error. Please let me know if this works

This is actually a fix I’ve used multiple times on here. Wasn’t aware that it was a direct storage related issue. I’ll have to do some testing myself I think.

Funny how it causes a different interaction. Are you sure this is something that’s regarding specifically Windows 11 and 24H2?

i try it today.

sorry for late answer.

i try a lot of things nothing work. i will install w10 today and after i write here.

thanks for reply.

I did a clean install of 24h2

I did it twice and this happens both times.

5800x3d

2x16gb 3600mhz ram

1tb fury renegade m2 (system installed)

4tb wd HDD for games etc.

2tb toshiba p300 for games etc.

250 gb 1x samsung 860 1x samsung 870 ssd

and 2tb main games wd SN580 M2 4 months old.

It happened to me after I installed 24H2 cleanly from the site, first

There was no problem in 23H2.

I press the play button to open the game. Then the game gives a data error. and the m2 disk crashes. It gives an unknown device error.

File sizes are decreasing. When I go to create a hard disk partition, there is something called 1mb unallocated space. I don’t understand what it is. Then it disappears when the system restarts.

When you restart the system it goes back to the beginning, it seems like there is no problem, when you want to enter the game everything happens again, the disk crashes.

There is no problem in Windows 10, I played the game 20 times, I entered and exited, there is no problem.

I did SFC / SCANNOW, it constantly finds errors and fixes them, but there is no solution. I think it was a mistake, I saw it in a video, it always does the same thing.

Clean installation, zero, all drivers are up to date and Windows updates are complete.

I also took a video, the video is in Turkish, but you can understand the problem from the images.

I don’t know if it is a 24H2 problem. Also, when installing Windows, the disk formatting section from the USB disk works much more slowly than before.

note : disk %100 healthy and no problem at all. in windows 10 disk fully works and perfectly fine.

i try every single program to test this disk and no problem at all. disk %100 healthy.

note2: In the video, there are a total of 8 games in the steam folder and games like cp 2077 etc. are 100-200gb and as you can see, the size shows 486kb. When you restart the computer, it is fixed again. When you enter the game, it happens again, steam or other games as they wish
