They are certainly advertising it as a main feature of the DLC.
Good luck with your anti vessel of hatred campaign. Let me know how it goes on October 8th. Ill bet most of the people complaining will be logged in day one, including you.
They don’t want us to have fun. Low Priority item.
They want us to play non-solo - see others’ characters and cosmetics. High(er) Priority.
Devs’ actions over the past year+ have shown to differ from their words – those untrue marketing claims and interviews… “live service” , “play your way”, “kill and loot”.
FACTS = NO endgame for base game consumers where there’s ZERO repeatability and replayability JOY in competing self (character’s fantasy power) or in group.
NO Endgame, NO Leaderboard, NO Armoury so far = their actions have constantly informed us it’s profits over player’s fun in D4.
They are dripping contents/changes as Seasons when in fact it’s fixing early game design flaws. |
**Farm yes!, **
**Loot yes!, **
Endgame NO! … Test challenge one’s character power replayability endgame non-existence.
Released a Party Finder to coincide with co-op raid aka Dark Citadel exclusive to
a, VoH expansion and b, group (non-solo)
= yea, enjoy power fantasy via viewing other spenders on cosmetics. $$$ over Fun in D4 IS the Mantra and Motto of any changes to D4.
If the Dark Citadel is one of the main features, I guess VoH is not really for me. However, no reason to quit the game. I will just keep playing the base game as long as it is still possible or until I get bored.
After the first 3 days, the only people who will do DC are streamers and their streamer buddies or subs.
Blizzard will likely have to re-do it for solo play at some point, or else it will be as empty as the pvp zones.
Fields of Hatred is still in the game, though.
Here’s what they’re abandoned:
- AoZ
- Vaults
- Malignant Hearts (socketable jewels)
- Equipment Imbue/Vampiric Powers
- Construct/Companion
You can extreme stretch the argument that AoZ morphed in to Gauntlet - but they are completely different objectives.
Malignant Hearts (or another name) might be returning for VoH due to the rumored Gem Tab.
Vaults are long gone, but might return in Dark Citadel style.
You could also extreme stretch argue that Equipment Imbue is a proto-Temper system, but Temper doesn’t add wildly different powers, only enhances what you have (size, damage, etc.)
Construct is obviously a proto mercenary. So it’s not really abandoned at this point.
No, Blizzard are pushing an agenda that people don’t want.
If they want to add a group finder and see if people party up, fine.
If they want to add group only content, wait until more than half the player base are playing in groups (it’ll never happen, this genre is typically solo play).
The worst parts about this is that:
- The content might actually be good, but if you’re solo you cannot even see it.
- If you don’t play the content, you’re missing out on things that MIGHT be important to you.
Some people playing D4 are collectors. They try to get all the cosmetics, but they do it solo. To those people, this is a bug FU.
I don’t mind having this kind of content, but it MUST NOT require multiplayer, and if it does require it, it MUST NOT give you anything exclusive to this content.
They’re doing both, and that’s the problem.
One of the reasons many people play D4 instead of WoW, and play solo, is because they’re fed up with player toxicity and grouping. We don’t want that to come to D4.
This is why I quit ESO (and MMO’s in general). Community was decent for a while, but doing the dungeons with randoms became an absolute headache and nightmare because of how bad people got.
That people only play in groups when there is some sort of major advantage for doing so should tell you something. If playing in groups was this great thing that everyone wanted to do because it was oh so much fun they would be doing it regardless of advantage.
I see this as similar to PvP zones. If PvP zones (which you can’t go into without risk of being killed by a player) are OK, then lack of Solo Dark Citidel is also OK. If PvP zones are not OK, then neither is the lack of Solo Dark Citidel.
Not saying which it is, but
- People who think one is OK should think the other is OK.
- And people who think one just plain wrong should think the other is just plain wrong too.
I dont mind them adding group content but 2 questions that will need to answered:
- Why did you gate tempering scrolls behind them? A rare drop outside does not give solo players a place to target farm them.
- The description says its complex and requires teamwork. Sounds like Lost Ark’s attempt at making random groups work together to solve complex problems. It was a nightmare, a spectacular failure, and I know it actually caused some players to quit the game. Have you solved this or are you just hoping?
I still don’t understand why you don’t just make tempering give 3 results: 1 is the previous and 2 other random results.
I’ll be logging in on Nov 15th.
This locking content behind party just make me not purchasing expansion cause Diablo was always for me a singleplayer game with optional coop.
I dont like this direction when i want to have party dependent gameplay i just play some MMO.
A solo game would not have clans.
Like how you must make this comment in every one of them instead of simply ignoring it. How dare anyone make a repeat post huh hypocrite?
I know there is a “current thing” about people wanting an offline mode for every game. In my opinion it has more to do with modern multiplayer games being bad.
The statistics you were refering to are distorted because group play in D4 is not rewarding and that is a design flaw. The statistics are from time when The Pit was still punishing for group play.
The few players who are still playing D4 are going to love the party finder, you will see.
Blizzard will cause problems in VoH and I can promise you! Just wait until VoH is out and you will find alot complains on EU & US forum. I will be back and saying “I was right”.
Ah there’s the logic we need to realize. Log in for the weekly cosmetic dungeon bois!
I’ve yet to make a delavu reply to any of these topics actually. This would be the first one. Now I have repeated myself in multiple threads that’s a given, but I’ve never made a dejavu post about this topic before. You’re welcome to check my post history, it’s wide open.
Dude, take a deep breath.
It’s optional content, they’ve already confirmed this in multiple interviews over gamescom. It’s for fun and cosmetics, scrolls of re-tempering can be acquired outside of citadel. This was confirmed by Pezradar on twitter.
Playing solo in an online multiplayer game is a CHOICE. You are “forced” to play with others in several other aspects of the game including: Helltide, walking around town, World Bosses, World events etc. “Forced Multiplayer” is already in the game in things you are REQUIRED to do, but nobody bats an eye. Put it on some for funsies content and suddenly its a huge problem.
