Went back to D2R again, think I am having more fun playing this than current state of diablo 4, and yet they want more money for an expansion? Can you fix the game first?
Edit: Removed this bit to avoid the post being taken down, thanks MFPF
Apparently some people have difficulties reading entire threads, so let me clarify a few things:
THIS IS MY OPINION. YOU DONT HAVE TO AGREE
I played D2, LOD, D2R, at launch, and have tried PD2. I recently reinstalled d2r to see how it felt in comparison to d4.
I posted this in the d4 forums because it is a comparison to d4, and was intended to discuss aspects of d4 and their decision to release an expansion too soon
I didn’t include what’s wrong with the game because the list is quite extensive and there are many posts and videos relating to what could be improved and blizzard should be well aware the current state of the game, a few of what I’d consider more important:
- Nearly every aspect is some generic % multiplier, this is not fun. They need more dynamic modifiers on these types of gear that actually change the way you play, and maybe interact with the garbage paragon board in some way.
- Class balance is very bad, this isn’t as big of an issue as long as they implement class-specific leaderboards for endgame activities (what little there are)
-Group play provides a significant advantage over solo players, there needs to be some way to indicate you’re not trading or grouping
-World bosses are an absolute joke
-Tempering/Masterworking are not a good system for gear progression. Having such a high probability of bricking your item at the FIRST stage in your crafting process is TERRIBLE game design
- Need more fun endgame content
- Farming bad bosses with little-to-no loot just to get to the one you want is again, terrible design. Furthermore, the fact you could carry noobs to increase your loot provides even more of an advantage over players who play solo.
- This is something the expansion might introduce, but FORCED CO-OP content?? This is never something an ARPG should introduce, if they want the game to be an MMO like lost ark they should’ve said so
I would recommend to you, what I recommend to everyone who feels the product isn’t up to standard. Don’t buy the expansion, and stop promoting the game by playing the game and talking on their official forums. The best thing you can do to promote change is to not support the company in any fashion.
I doubt you’ll take this advice, but it would cause far more damage then being active in the game or the forums for a game you do not like.
Edit: OP has heavily edited their original post, what you see as a reply from me is due to responding to the original text, which was just the first couple of questions with no added context.
Ah yes, waiting to buy the game for it to be in a good state and much cheaper completely goes against my opinion, you’re absolutely correct sir. You sound like an absolute clown.
You’re under the assumption the game will be better 2 months after the expansion hits, or that the expansion will somehow make it up to your standards. That’s a tall order coming from some one who is complaining about the game currently.
You criticize them because you have more fun in a previous iteration of the game then you do in D4, then question the fact they’re trying to get more money out of an expansion. Now you’re advocating for purchasing the game sight un-seen I might add.
So of the entire player base, if the majority of them stopped playing the game right now, refused to buy the expansion, and didn’t talk on the forums, you don’t think that would spark change? It’s a strange world we live in.
Everyone has said their piece, hundreds of times over. At this point it’s literally a broken record, what people need to do is stand by their convictions and act accordingly.
I like your fantasy world, can I join it? Objectively speaking, how many things has the community spoken out about that’s been changed? Compare and contrast every single nitpick the community has had, versus what has actually changed. I can wait.
