I have 32GB Ram too and it was happening to me as well. It also has my GPU running at 100% now which never happened before. And thats with all graphic settings set to Low. The game looks like it was made in 2001 with those settings and I hate it. I paid all this money for the damn game and my PC and it looks and plays like a** now and I hate it.
I have also been experiencing dozens of crashes so far… It happens right when I get to bosses too, which really makes me not want to play anymore when I have to run the whole dungeon again… especially since I decided to redo OG campaign and then go straight into XP campaign… all the disconnections have me regretting that I made that decision, and also has me wondering if perhaps I should have not got the expansion…
The game is currently running horribly. It is impossible to play.
Same problem, I noticed that its probably a memory leak, game is using like 9 gb of my ram as vram for GPU.
My config:
Ryzen 5 5600GT
32 GB ram 3200mhz
GPU Vega 7 Integrated Graphics
Also crashed twice since expansion both times moving around in kurast bazaar. Have never crashed prior to DLC launch.
RTX 3090, 64 GB RAM, i9-12900KF, Windows 11 game is on an SSD. did not update to latest NVIDIA drivers, heard those who did get blue screens of death instead.
Hey all,
I’ve been facing frequent crashes since the expansion and tried a bunch of things with no luck. The crashes almost always come during transport, but can come at other times too. Here’s what I’ve done so far:
- Updated GPU Drivers (1650 Ti). (I upgraded to 565.90 and then rolled back 561.09)
- Increased Pagefile Size to 16GB.
- Ran Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool – no errors found.
- Turned graphics settings to low – still crashes.
- Checked disk space – over 400GB free.
- Increased TDR delay (Time Delay Recovery) in registry to allow the GPU more recovery time.
- Scanned game files – no issues found.
- Crash logs:
NONCONTINUABLE_EXCEPTION (c0000025)
linked toKERNELBASE.dll
andntdll.dll
. - System cleanup and closed unnecessary background tasks.
- Blizzard forum tips applied – no improvement.
Still crashing consistently after trying all this. Any more ideas? Would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks!
Yes, same for me. Constant crashing. For me, unplayable right now. Base game never did this.

@everyone
The issue is not fixable on your end, wasting time messing with settings hoping to find the magic one that fixes the crashes at this point is just wasting your time.
There is a huge memory leak in the kernel and this is leading to memory bloat when a certain pagefile calls upon it the game has no way to pull it due to the leak. This is on Blizzard and this should have been fixed before launch we who beta tested it hardcore told them of the leaks. At least they fixed the cinematic pagefile call that was leading to full system hangups that required a 1 finger salute to get out of.
Until there is a patch that fixes the overuse of memory both RAM/VRAM this will keep happening and it’s not Nvidia or AMD drivers that is the issue as it is happening across the board with every CPU (AMD Ryzen Zen1-5 and Intel Gen 9-15) as well as all 3 GPU manufactures (Intel ARC, AMD Radeon and Nvidia Geforce) nothing you can do since it’s a live service game and you do not have access to those specific files… We are at the mercy of Blizzard to fix it.
I’ve had two freezes where the game simply stopped responding and I had to alt-F4 it. Both occurred in town near the teleport.
The worst part is having to wait on your character to “save” to get back in the game.
And to everyone reading this. It will not get fixed. There have been memory issues for the past several seasons. It just gets worse and worse with each patch. I had to do some funky stuff with my comp just to get it to run. I couldnt play the Loot Reborn stuff when it came out and gave up all the way up until a few weeks left of Season 5. Your settings options “can” technically help but it will never fix the issue like Mifesto said. There was a massive Fenris error forum thread back when I originally encountered the error and still has not had a response from anyone at Blizz. I feel for each of you.
I haven’t had any issues with Diablo IV until now. Its been running smooth as silk since launch. Suddenly this expansion is throwing up instability after instability.
It’s really quite something. Similar to everyone else, crashing every hour or so. Can’t even complete a section of the storyline without a crash and have to do it over again. I’ve done the same quest 4 times now and it crashes before I can complete the quest. I had a few issues with the base game, but this is another level altogether.
It would be good to know who is crashing on Bnet vs Steam.
I never got Fenris issue until about a week ago, but I attributed it to the fact that I started using a new computer recently and it was the first time running D4 on it. Has this issue mostly just been in the past week or two? I play the game from the Blizzard launcher.
The expansion has only been out a day so literally, a day.
Right, but I was having this issue last week since the patch that was prepping for the expansion. Also it seems many were having the issue even before that. So there is more nuance than “literally, a day”.
Only Blizzard can say. They could have changed something during the season that caused issues to propagate. For me its only been since the expansion so whatever the cause for the persisting issues aren the ones that affected me. Something in the patch is causing mine.
I have a 4090 also, and played a couple hours today but now its crashing again…I dont think its us…its them.
Never crashed during hundreds of hours of playtime before the expansion. Now it’s every hour or so, to the point I dread starting a dungeon, a boss fight, an event or even using an opal for fear of crashing again and again. I have a RTX 4090 with 32GB RAM and even Kurast and Nahantu are laggy as I ride through. Please fix it.
I’m going to try to clear my %appdata% folders for the game just to rule things out.
