it could be memory leaking, if so the shutting down and restarting would help for a short time like you suggest.
It seems to be more than memory leaking though. I reverified my files, shut the pc down etc. It hasn’t helped. IMO it seems to be an optimization issue. Whatever they did to the textures and loading of areas seems less optimized since the expansion.

THIS IS A MEMORY LEAK FOR SURE. I literally had the game paused and left to go to do something important. I came back to be greeted to my desktop. So it clearly had crashed. Like literally it sat there, no movement or anything idly and crashed. WTF?!

yeah it’s more than a memory leak. stuff in the new areas is causing things to lock up

Can confirm. Same experience. 14900k CPU. 4090 FE. 128 GB memory. High end motherboard and M2 SSD. Never used to happen.
Crashes every 10 min or so…stress from massive release? This SUX!!!
It crashes with the error that has run out of memory.
I have 32GB RAM and RTX3060 12GB.
I had never had that issue before the expansion.
This is so frustrating.
You may need to clear your cmos
I have same problem…
CTD/Crash every 1~2h after VoH. Its never happened before… And I ever play on high/ultra config.
Now, my game crashes independent what settings I do.
CPU Ryzen 7 5700x
MoBo b550m gaming
GPU RTX4060TI 8GB
RAM 32GB
If I follow this Thread correctly seems that mostly All those ( including me) players are using Nvidia Cards who has crashes. So maybe a Driver Issues there?
Literally unplayable lag even just standing there lowest possible graphics its quite literally unplayable …disgusting waste of 40$ and diablo and blizzard cant exactly afford this rep i feel. absolutely 0 consumer confidence after this one

Its possible. I didnt update my drivers since the patch but they are only one issue old. I doubt thats the issue unless Nvidia published a driver specifically for the Expansion.
Theres no mention of Diablo in the newest driver version.

Unplayable for me. I’m using an RTX 4090 with the latest Nvidia 565.90 driver and 96GB RAM, but the game keeps crashing every few minutes, especially in the new Vessel of Hatred areas. I’ve tried every suggested fix I could find, from disabling Nvidia Reflex, capping FPS to 60/120, and even turning off DLSS, but nothing has worked. I’ve reinstalled the game, updated drivers, and reset the LocalPrefs file, but still no success.
It seems like others with RTX 4090 cards are facing similar issues, with some mentioning power spikes and crashes right after entering specific zones (link 1). Blizzard recommended disabling Frame Generation for Nvidia 40-series cards, but it didn’t help in my case either (link 2).
Is there anyone here who has managed to fix these crashes? Is this tied to specific areas in the expansion, or is it more widespread? Any feedback or additional recommendations would be appreciated. I’m starting to wonder if Blizzard will address this or if we’re all stuck figuring it out on our own.

I dont have the Raytracing or the Frame Generation enabled. The only extra I have is the Nvidia Reflex enabled with +boost. Otherwise DLSS Balanced with High settings across the board.
yea i like this game alot but now im getting more and more tired of this piece of sh*t that is called diablo 4. i have a very high end pc and et 3g internet speed and this game keep crashing every week if its possible im at a point that i want a refund! ive played every season i have 10 character max lvl
I tried all those things as well and nothing. It even crashed my PC last night and gave me the blue screen of death for a few seconds. Scared the hell outta me. Idk what they are doing but something is wrong. And i have been following this forum and twitter and they havent mentioned anything about PC crashes. Which kinda worries me

I have damn near the exact same specs as you and play the game on the lowest graphic settings possible and it happened all night yesterday. Crashed every 45 minutes or so. I updated my GPU driver, changed settings, deleted and reinstalled and nothing worked. It HAS to be something on their end. I have had zero issues since the game launched last year and the only thing that changed since was VoH being installed. It’s something they did wrong.

Glad to see it isn’t just me. I have had 4 or 5 since launch and just as many if not more DCs. The crashes suck because I have lost progress before.
