Combat in Lost Ark is Better

Yeah i’m going to go out on a limb and say inferno raids are irrelevant to this point entirely and whether they were actually hard or not remains to be seen, considering that all of the raids in LA that were meant to be ‘OHMERGARD SO HARD’ were actually painfully easy.

Except they aren’t because if you didn’t do deathless inferno raids, they weren’t. How far did you get in lost ark? You clearly have no idea what you’re saying if you think those are ‘painfully easy’. I’ll go out on a limb and say it’s less than 0.01% of the community has done ANY of the inferno raids deathless.

Something to consider is that Lost Ark doesn’t really rely on itemization to drive the underlying combat… so it has much more fleshed out baseline combat skills. Class combat always plays basically the same, and items really just make the numbers go up or down. There’s some ARPG-lite aspects to the skills system, but nothing crazy.

Diablo, in contrast, is all about loot and items that completely change the way your class and builds play. You start off weak with skills that are slow and underwhelming that eventually become powerhouses once you’ve found the proper items to really unlock them. The actual skill tree has less impact than the items you find, by design.

In summary, D4 combat won’t really shine until we get all the toys in the toybox unlocked on release.

I would agree with you but diablo 4, 99% of the legendaries are just +numbers go up modifiers. They don’t change the way the skills are played. Compared to diablo 3, there’s only 2 skill runes in the tree instead of 5 as well.

If this wasn’t true, I would agree with you on build diversity, but it’s not. The vast majority of the legendaries/uniques in diablo 4 are just +dmg modifiers. The actual boss mechanics are also EXPONENTIALLY simplified in diablo compared to lost ark. Ashava is equivalent to a lvl 10 boss in lost ark.

LA combat relies entirely on engravings. Don’t have them? You’re not contributing anything to the run, simple as that.

Once again, this is wrong. Inferno mode is normalized so you have everything equal.

You’ve paid no attention to the development of this game at all. The unique legendaries will literally alter your skills entirely. Like the druids one to be permanently bear or wolf form, or transform all lightning skills to werewolf skills to abuse transformation powers.

Lost Ark does have the most impactful, best feeling combat in any ARPG by far. It’s too bad the game is unplayable because of time gating and P2W.

This isn’t true, at all. You cherry picked a couple out of the vast majority that are just +modifiers.

diablo4 .cc/us/Unique

You’ve literally just proved my point with that post lmao. It’s called Mad Wolf’s Glee and it’s right there in black and white.

“Werewolf form is your true form”

No, I said the vast majority of them are +dmg modifiers…and the vast majority are. You took a couple and said “NO THEY ARENT! HAHAHA”, when I said the vast majority…not 100%.

99% is pretty dang close.

That’s not even close to half of the legendaries in the game. That list has only 56, when we’ve already got data on well over 200.

Lol ok. You’re just coping right now so I’m going to let you keep coping.

Whatever you say buddy :smirk:

The PVP is super playable, and you don’t have to do any of the PVE stuff to play it.

I agree that the PVE is P2W garbage for selling microtransactions, but the PVP is hella fun, free, and everybody is equalized to same level/gear/stats.

Most fun PVP I’ve played since Battlerite died. Now you’ve got me thinking about reinstalling Lost Ark lol.

Go play Lost Ark then.

Battlerite is absolutely GOAT’ed pvp, but lost ark is super good. It just doesn’t have group ranked queue. You can still play battlerite but hardly anyone plays now.

Inferno raids are also normalized like PvP.

Lack of group queue makes it even better, IMO. Different strokes for different folks.

I wish Blizzard would take the hint and stop making all their PVP games about queuing up with coordinated group and stomping solo players.

Yeah but then they have Lost Ark pvp tournaments, and if you want a real competitive scene, you need group queue.

Rocket League has solo/group queue in one queue and it works just fine. If you deserve to be in the rank, you’ll get there in solo queue, even solo queueing into groups. I would argue that the solo queue in WoW PvP is complete trash and has murdered the group queues. It’s not fun to play and super sloppy uncoordinated gameplay.

Losing to ‘groups’ is one of gamings biggest excuse for their inability to get to high ranks. Is it harder? Yes, but over time you will average/beat those players for sure.

Like in Smite/League/Dota, I wouldn’t care if a 5 man group queues up. They can still lose to pugs if the pugs are better players.

i think blizzard developed d4 mainly for console players, this is why we get this basic and uninspired skill system
