I’ve played D2R and D3 plenty over the past 2-3 years. 1,000’s of hours on them in total. I’m not one to play 3-4 hours solid. I tend to play for 30-45 minutes, then take a break. The timeout/discount time really could be increased…
I found the Open World maps somewhat tedious. Lots of travel time between events, lots of trash to kill - but ultimately most of that time was routine and somewhat boring. Once in the various dungeons, the game was a little more interesting.
The artwork is very nice. I like the detail in the dungeons.
I tend to play solo most of the time. - yet with this game, it seems to switch you between multi-player and essentially playing alone. I would much rather it be clearly one or the other.
I experienced lag and rubber banding - esp. moving between zones on the map. WAY more than I would see with D2R or D3.
I found the need to constantly heal before picking up the next healing potion unnecessary. This is just busywork and really takes way from the game.
Overall, I liked the game, but I do think it needs some tweaking to open world.
I only reached level 19 with a Druid - my initial impression was not as fast levelling as the Rogue I played the weekend before… A little disappointed with the killing power of the Druid. Wolves - not so effective. Ravens - somewhat useful - the amination seems to be more of a whirlwind than birds attacking - one of the few graphical complaints with the game… Lightning - OK - but consumes so much mana it’s next to useless.
