I have been successfully in-game trading for years in D4. Today, when I open the trade window I am unable to drop items into the trade tool.
I tried dropping a legacy unique, a new unique and a new legendary item. I even tried dropping into the trade window a TEC rune. The other player can drop a legendary ring into their trade window and I can offer gold for that item. Such a trade completes successfully. However, when I attempted to trade that exact same legendary ring back to the same player a minute later, I could not drop the legendary ring into the trade window.
I tried logging out and closing the Battlenet app on my PC. Went back into the game and tried trading again - faced the same problem.
None of the items I attempted to trade were account bound.
I pre-purchased the latest expansion pack whilst my trading buddy has not yet purchased the latest expansion pack. I was playing as a paladin and they as a Sorc.
We trade items in-game to help each other’s builds out all the time and this is the first time I have experienced this problem.
Blizz - can you help me figure out what the problem is with the in-game trade window?
Anyone else experiencing similar problems with in-game trading?

I’m running into this now. Cant trade anything as of about a hour ago. Been playing with zero problems till today. I pre-purchased and I’m playing the paladin too. Same thing did all the login stuff and re starts zero help put a ticket in hope they can help us.

Ditto. It’s frustrating, lost on many trades due to this bug. If you frantically click the trade window with your item it can randomly slot in. Sometimes it works right away sometimes you’re clicking for 3 mins desperate for it to pop.

Same here just got ripped off for a trade of 12.5B gold due to it as well
Same thing . Was trying to trade a VoH ring which wasnt account bound or favorited. Person couldnt put it into trade window. When he dropped it on the floor i couldnt even see it
Can’t trade either but I can put gold in and receive gold. Specifically I can not put items in the trade window. Yes I am sure they are not favorite or account bound. I am able to drop items and they can pick them up. I don’t want to trade this way as you can imagine. Been going on since I purchased the paladin access.
Does not work on Paladin or Sorc which I have tried. Also get a lot of crashes in town just freezes randomly.

I have the same problem since begin.. i cant trade anything its realy not ok this. Are they gonna fix this? Why they not mention notjing about this in the hotfix today? Big problem
Same for the past few days. It is totally random. I have to resort to dropping item on ground and then trading gold but that is not ideal; luckily people have been honest in trading. I know of several people who have the same issue. I tried to buy an item yesterday and they dropped Item and I could not even see it to pick it up so I lost the trade. It is very frustrating for those of us who sell quite a bit on Traders. I have thousands of successful trades and never have run into this issue before this weekend. Please fix! It seems small change for some items if you lose the gold but becomes quite sensitive when you start trading things for billions.
I am in the same boat, my trade box is even a different color. I have had to resort to dropping items on the ground and hope they are honest enough to pay. If you notice your settings, your cross-network play is grayed out.
It’s intended. You can only change this setting when the game is not running

Ran into this just now, literally moments ago. I couldn’t add a Nagu rune to the trade window, but I could drop it and the person could pick it up. Lucky for me, and the others here, that they were honest and didn’t just take it and run. Someone should look into this asap.
Yeah I also have this issue (and ran into others with the same) - I have to drop the item on the ground to trade. Only gold is tradeable through the trade window.
With the trade window open, try right clicking the item in your inventory. This worked for me.
if I go to the character screen cross-play is checked. but I come back to play mode and my cross-network is still grayed out??
I had this working for awhile and now it acting up again. I don’t know what re-sparked it.
It’s grayed out in game because it can only be changed from the character select screen. But this still does not answer why trade isn’t working, i know.
