Exactly the same problem for me.
I tried it.
First time I opened the game it worked.
Then I closed it, tried to open again and the same crash happened.
Yesterday I was able to play until level 23 where I got stuck on a loading screen that was spinning and spinning without loading the city. But it was after many many tries and restarts that the game finally opened.
I hope some dev or support person are reading this so they can give us a more technical and precise solution.
I’m having the same issue. Each time on the Blizzard logo.
But after tweaking and play around on the LocalPref file, now I’m able to play the game without any issue so far.
Thanks, this didn’t help at all
can you explain what you did for the rest of us?
Ive got the same as you…game keeps crashing on and on and on
Same here,
RazerBlade 17 (2020)
i7 10875H
rtx 2070 Super
16GB ram
nvidia drivers up to date
windows 11 up to date
Game crashed in the first screen after a few seconds. When i deleted synapse and cortex, diablo IV craches much later while the loginscreen.
I hope Blizzard will fix it fast. I paid for these dass and now i can‘t play.
As a follow up on this issue, I am now also seeing a similar issue on a laptop. I have D4 on 4 different PCs. While I don’t have the time and access to all of them right now as far as general testing the laptop is even on a different network (work guest Wi-Fi ) and this problem occurs. I am able to play games like WoW without issue on this guest network so I know its not something specific to it. Also, unlike my desktop rig, which is much more powerful, I get right up to a character select screen only to have it dump to reconnecting then the game closing/disappearing like in my video.
This was also the first launch of the game on this system as it was freshly installed and no Beta was ever played on it.
Had the exact same issue. Are you running it on an NVMe m.2 drive by chance? Worked fine in beta and in server slam? There seems to be a common pattern going on in another thread about this as well.
If you have another hard drive, you can copy the game directory to the other drive in its entirety. Then go into Game Settings thru the gear icon to the right of the play button in the Battle.net launcher and change the install location to the new folder. Or, you can uninstall entirely and reinstall to the other drive. Either way, running off a different drive seems to fix the issue.
If you do not have another drive, some have had success by running a benchmark CrystalDiskMark at the same time as D4 launches. The thought here is that the drive is running too fast somehow.
Same here I am crashing nonstop. I was able to play at launch and then tried this morning and I can’t even get into character selection. I tried everything, Uninstalling, fixing, chaining the localpref folder for disablechromaeffect and safe mode. I ran as admin and cleared my cache. I made sure to put everything in high performance mode. Nothing has worked. It is saddening when you pay a lot of money for a product and are unable to get the experience you paid for.
One thing to look at, is to ensure you haven’t disabled your Paging File.
D4 seems to rely of this even on high end systems.
I’ve been having a problem where the blizzard logo comes up and the singing starts but the the game just hangs.
I checked the fenris debug log in the game folder and it was getting to the point where the game tried to play the intro movie then the log stops.
I edited the local preferences and changes the “skipintromovive” value to 1 and I also changed the “firsttimeflowcompleted” to 1.
Saved the file and now my game runs.
Ok editing this as the game still crashes. Definitely something to do with the cinematic any time my PC wants to load the cinematic the game hangs.
Chroma disabled, safe mode turned on, I even had to lock my local prefs file to stop D4 from overwriting it and changing the settings back (which means I suppose it might just be ignoring the file, which is pretty lame).
Windows 11, Nvidia 3080ti, ran fine for 2 hours last night and now it just crashes during launch over and over. I updated to the latest drivers and no luck.
My laptop appears to be able to connect now. I don’t have time to do any additional testing but with two attempts it is now connecting. No special changes were made so I’d say something was changed on the backend for connectivity. I’d suggest people try connecting again if they haven’t.
I reported the same issue. Below the answer from Blizzard assistance:
I’m Game Master Rynmosend at your service - I’m one of the specialist technical support Game Masters at Blizzard. Thanks for getting in touch and letting us know about your game freezing on login.
We’re currently investigating issues relating to this. While we sadly don’t have a fix for this right now, our Developers are looking into it.
Hopefully you won’t have to wait too long for this fix and wish you a nice weekend.
Yeah mine gets into the Blizzard Entertainment screen and then after about a second or two just freezes up on that screen and crashes.
The game initially launched. But after 20 min in game, in the very first location, it got crashed. After that, every login crashes me after Logging in to Diablo4 screen and then “short reconnecting note” - crash.
Tried setting safe mode and other recommendations above, no success.
Pc HP Nvidia 1650, Intel i5 10gen, 16gb ram
I fought this for several hours last night trying all the fixes i could find. Finally i made a copy of the game folder which is on my nvme drive, pasted it onto my ssd storage drive. Using bnet to launch it will run without issue every time from the ssd. From the nvme it crashes at blizzard screen every time unless i spam click, then it crashes loading into the game every time
Would recommend people hitting lots of crashes during startup to try uninstalling high res assets (modify game install using cog wheel). Has much improved the experience for me.
Launched after LocalPrefs file was deleted
