Cannot open map while using controller on PC

I launched the game for the first time in over a year, I am excited, after all these months of patches and multiple seasons of new content, I figured, there is not way I can log in and not have a nice time for a few hours at this point, I mean, the game does cost $1000 just about, so it would be impossible for say like, an entire button to completely not function on my controller in the game. I lay down in bed and relax, load it up, accidentally log in on an old character, oops, ill just open the menu and go back and create a season, easy peasy, right?! but… I can’t find the menu, I am clicking every button on my controller and no menu… hmm, I decide to click the select button over and over and out of no where suddenly pops up the map and then I can’t close it, I click it 10 times and the map closes, but now I can’t open the map again, I click it 10-15 times and suddenly the map opens… ahhh, I have played games since I was in the womb just about and there are games that are free that wouldn’t dare have a problem like that, games that cost $1 that would never ever ever have garbage like that. it’s unacceptable and I honestly wish with every fiber in my body that I could get a full refund. Blizzard is garbage, its sad.

many words for something that works. using controller on pc and i can open my map.

My controller works fine for everything else, so why does it not work in this game? … also, I have an Xbox elite controller that is not very old.

im using xbox elite too (first generation), sadly this controller does have some issues tho, especially on the lb and rb button btw.

you are using bluetooth? if so, are you using the official bluetooth adapter? even if your mainboard supports bluetooth, it kinda acts up.

Yes, I am using bluetooth. I have the xbox dongle to connet to pc. The button registers when pressed, the game even makes the noise, it just doesn’t open the menu until I click it 10-15 times.

thats weird, im playing right now and spamming the map button and it works normally. not sure what could be the source of the problem. did you restart the controller? or are you eventually using some remapping softwares with your controller? i for example use REWASD as my rb key is broken and i remapped it to the back paddle

btw, my first reply was kinda rude, but you know, its pretty tiring to always see these “omg blizzard bad” threads whenever something doesnt work on users end.

It is bad, there is not reason that a AAA game should have this problem I have never once had a problem that big in any other game, not even little indie games, stuff like that gets patched fast… I did have some problems that were as bad when Last Epoch very first released in early access, but they had that game feeling better long before they released it. This is season 4 of a game that is made by one of the wealthiest most successful gaming companies on planet earth. It is bad that this is happening and it does make me mad.

*I just tested 3 other games, including destiny 2 and I had absolutely 0 problems using the select button in any of the other titles, I logged back in to Diablo IV, and nope, doesn’t work, smash samsh smash… nothing. it is bad.

well, it doesnt seem like you want to look for issues on your end. as i told you, im using xbox elite pro controller and there isnt an issue. if it was the game itself, i should be affected as well?

Your right, I do not wish to spend any more time doing diagnostics and trouble shooting for a problem that shouldn’t exist, I would rather just play another game. I have a full time job, I spent all week troubleshooting, diagnosing, and fixing problems, its saturday, so ya, what I would like to do is chill out and have some fun…

well, then i guess be angry. ill get back to pits with my xbox elite pro controller while being able to open the map.

this unique experience, designed and brought to you… by Blizzard… XD lol

Do you happen to have Steam open as well? I have controller input issues if I do and play a game on BN or a windows store game.

well, im glad it fixed your problem. eventually you want to dial down on the blizzard rage on your OP

happy gaming bud!

Dual sense on ps functioning perfectly fine.

You need to lay off the Blizzard copium my friend, corporations are not your friends, the bigger they are, the more they don’t care about you at all, they just want money, and their whole purpose for existing is to serve customers. I am the customer, I gave this company over $120 for this experience, I reserve the right to be upset when they fail to design it in a way that serves the customers. Nothing about what just happened in this chat in the last 30 minutes is good, not for me, not for you, and not for them, this is bad, its a problem that I had to show up here at all to have to learn about something that shouldn’t exist. Having steam open should be perfectly fine but it’s not, because of poor design. I’m sorry you don’t understand that it is acceptable to ask for reasonable qualitative metrics from any company based on what is achievable and standard in the market they exist in. I personally would still like to have steam open because I have an idol game that I like to have running in the background, and I could hop on any other game on any other platform RIGHT NOW, and I could not only play the games on their platforms without a problem, but I could have steam open and have my other game running. But to enjoy Diablo IV, those are luxuries players are forced to learn to live without, that’s not a good thing Nyurei… As a good consumer, It is a good thing to have a rational and reasonable base line expectations from all companies based on what is normal in that sector. It is normal for software to operate while another piece of software is also running at the same time, that is an acceptable expectation my friend. I am not crazy to be upset about that.

no worries, i dont suffer from copium, neither do i think companies are my friend.

however, your whole rant ended up being an issue on the users end. if you even bothered to google your issue, youd have found out that steam and controllers that support their own softwares do act up.

you having paid 120 bucks doesnt give you the right to expect them fixing -your- computer problems. Some people really should get rid of that karen attitude.

that or at least rock the fitting haircut.

It was not a problem that I created, it is not my computer. The issue is with the corporations software. It should be designed so that I don’t have to close steam to use a controller.

it is a steam issue. please head to the steam customer service.
