Can anyone get xbox controller to work?

Cant get the controller to work at all, it is connected and works outside Diablo 4 but in game I press one button and it works then nothing, no other inputs work.

EDIT: got it to work by unplugging my Azeron gamepad controller. you cant have 2 controller type devices plugged in same time…

That’s odd. I’ve been using an Xbox controller exclusively and there’s been no issues. I launch the game, turn on the controller and it just works as intended. You shouldn’t have to do anything special to make it work.

Great, just my luck lol, ya basically I press a button on controller and the ui changes to controller button label, but none of them actually work, then after 10 seconds it reverts to keyboard ui, if I press controller button again the ui changes but again nothing works…

Same problem here. It’s broken. I’m using a Xbox Series X Controller and the official dongle.

Same here, Xbox One Series 2 elite controller does not work. It recognizes that the controller is there because it immediately switches the GUI inputs to controller buttons but does not respond to any button press.

Same issue I had last night. I’m going to try turning on the Xbox controller after the game has loaded when i get on tonight. It also wouldn’t allow me to map any buttons.

Wow for the first time ever I had zero issues using a DS5 controller. I usually have to emulate it as an Xbox controller in most games.

Alright, so check this. Open steam… Go to Settings >Controller> General Controller Settings. Check Xbox Configuration Support and Xbox Extended Feature Support(May Not Be Required).

I have no idea wtf this has to due with blizzard games but apparently steam has godlike control over your controller. Makes no sense but it works now.

i usually have 2 sets of different controllers (one 360 the other One) plugged in and they work without any issue, but for d4 i have to turn one of them off, otherwise the game does not recognize them.

I haven’t been able to get any controller to work in the game. Xbox, Xbox Elite, Switch, etc… It knows it’s there because when I hit a button in game it switches the UI but nothing works. I have been trying to resolve this for hours and nothing. I don’t think Steam has anything to do with this as I already have those options check as they mentioned above.

Been using controller since I started. Sometimes I put it down and use the mouse to check stats… then pick it back up to leave town.

The transitions have been flawless for me. I use an xbox wireless controller…

I should note that I play the game through Battle Net

Same here. I’m sorry you guys are having trouble, but this is some of the best implementation of controller/mouse keyboard support of come across. It changes seamlessly from controller to mouse. Hopefully blizzard can help you guys out.

For you people with no issues, are you on Windows 10 or Windows 11?

I am on Windows 11. Every other game I have works without issue so this is baffling me.

Only here to say that the Stadia controller won’t work for me wireless or wired.

I can however use the PS4 controller wired. I’m on windows 10, no special setup to get the PS4 controller to work.

I found out what my issue was. [Aasshhiinnaa] above posted that it would not work if they had two controllers connected. That got me thinking that I also use a Razer Tartarus which comes up as a controller. When I unplugged that it worked.

That is likely my problem as well.

Anyone got the ps5 controller to work? I tried using steam but it doesn’t work, i click launch d4 and all it does is launch the bnet.

Hook up your controller then go to this webpage. If your controller is not in the “Player 1” slot, that is your problem.

My “player 1” is (Vendor:1532 Product:0224). I looked that up and it is Tartarus Pro.

The only way I know to make my controller “player 1” is to unplug and restart my computer.

Controller works when using cable to connect, but cannot get it to work wireless with a dongle.
