Check and see if you have multiple controllers connected to your PC. I had this issue and unplugging my other one fixed it.
Learned in another topic that if u add bnet to steam instead of d4 the controller works fine, and it worked like a charm and wireless.
No luck for me. PS4 controller connected via Bluetooth (not a PS4 dongle, just to be accurate). Tried adding BNet to Steam, but still nothing. Windows 11 (if it matters).
I was having this same problem. When I hit the A button it brought up chat. Talking to NPCâs it would take like 3 or 4 tries. Today I shut down Steam and it works fine. Seriously⌠But this is what I have found that Steam is messing with it. I can alt tab out of the game launch steam and it does it. Close Steam and it goes away. Maybe I have something set in Steam wrong? Canât imagine that because nothing else ever does this.
it automatically finds my xbox 360 controller, itâs connected via usb cable though, not wireless.
OK! Yes this was my problem, I have an Azeron gamepad connected, once I disconnected that my wireless xbox controller now works! So glad I came back to my thread to see if theres an answer lol
Works perfect for me.
It does for me too now, you cant have 2 controller type devices plugged in or it wonks out the xbox controller.
There are so many weird things about xbox controllers. For one there are about 20 versions of the damn things, but start with firmware upgrades and go from there. Try wired. All the normal things.
I believe the app to upgrade is called. Xbox accessories from the microsoft store, and it should allow you update the firmware on the controller to the newest version.
I got it to work perfctly by unplugging my azeron gamepad, it seems you cant have 2 controller type devices plugged in same time
Got home from work and fixed my Controller issue. I also had an Logitech controller hooked up and my Xbox controller. Thanks Aasshhiinnaa !! Xbox controller now works perfectly in D4!
I only had a wired XBOX 360 controller hooked up, but it was super difficult to select options with A. Switched to wired PS5 and everything worked perfectly.
to the best of my knowledge, i have no other controllers plugged in. just my xbox elite series 2
i do have similar issues i wow where, if i put my computer to sleep, then wake it up, launch wow, and turn my controller on in that specific order, my controller will not work until I relaunch wow, but relaunching fixes it. i tried relaunching d4 (sitting through the whole queue again) and still no dice.
i also did this (though it would not allows me to enable extended feature support) still not working
that is literally the industry standard
something else that is the industry standard is having the controller actually work. for everyone.
so it is not
some of the best implementation of controller/mouse keyboard support
my controller is in âplayer 1â. still couldnt get it to work
what i just now discovered though, and i dont expect this to be a viable solution for everyoneâŚ
i have used reWASD for a while to allow me to remap my back paddles on my elite controller to keyboard buttons (something microsoft still to this day has not just let us do). reWASD has an option to allow you to emulate other controllers, so I set it to emulate a DS4 controller, and voila, instantly recognizes my controller.
i only have 1 controller plugged in.
Same issue. Same controller. No issues during beta.
My Series X controller just works as soon as i touch any thing on it.
I have never used it for Diablo (or an Xbox game for that matter, I just have it for the rare game on PC that is better with a controller), but I just tried using mine. Worked without changing any settings or setting anything up. Just launched D4 and turned it on. This is the regular new controller (i.e. not Xbox One or either Elite).
In the server slam, I had to uninstall Nvidia Geforce Experience to get it to work. I tried unplugging my Azeron. Making sure Steam was closed completely. What ended up working for me with the full game was going to Xbox Accessories and updating my Elite 2 controller.
I figured out what worked for me. I was playing with the settings, and I found it to be steam related. Go into big-picture mode, to get to setting if you have it greyed out for some reason (like me) click the network connection at the top right. Go to controller, go all the way to the second to last option called âDesktop Layoutâ. After clicking that, then disable the Steam Input.
Closing Steam resolved this weird controller issue for me. Good find!
went to: Windows Settings > Devices > check all of your connected devices in the âMouse, keyboard, & penâ section, disconnect or remove them 1 by 1 until the controller works, for me I had to remove a device called âkeyboard HID deviceâ or something like that, after that reconnect the devices that were removed that didnât affect the controller and youâre good to go.
