Campfire Chat / Dev Stream 🍿 Full notes (no rollback of patch)

Its like…they dont even play the game.

D3 is great at what D3 does, it is not a BAD game this is why i hate pitting games against each other.

D4 Is D4 love it or hate it a different game.

Not trying to build from D3 in any way, that was clear to me.

The devs wanted to do something new.

Look at all the past footage. Did you really not see, it was not building from D3.

Indeed.
Seems hard to read it any other way.

But I guess patch 1.1.1 will tell.

We can argue all day if you want.

But i would rather talk about the games instead.

Peace. Nobody needs to be a winner.
I don’t want to win the fight.
It was not my intention.

I am tired and wired that is all.

Don’t want game to be easy

this right here proves devs have no idea wtf Diablo is meant to be.

It isnt a hard IP.
Its a power fantasy where you slaughter hellspawn.

If we wanted hard games we’d play something else liek PoE/Souls game.

Resistances are hard to fix.

…so explain why this wasnt caught in alpha/beta?
did you do no internal testing AT ALL?

I’ve seen indie games made by a handful of people (or even just 1 guy) make more balanced games :expressionless:

You mean except for the way they’re copypasting the rift+grift system with this “new content” that will replace the current t100-difficulty, later on?
Only thing meaningfully different is the fact that rifts doesn’t have tiers, while nightmare dungeons does. But they’re still reducing the overall difficulty of nightmare dungeons as a whole, which will provide the space for that copypaste of the role Grifts provides in D3.

Maybe it’ll have tiers too, maybe not. Time will tell. But the roles they play will be identical to the rift+grift system in D3.

Bending to complaints about xp is also exactly like D3.

You haven’t played d1 or d2r , or what do you mean by hard.

I am too tired to explain.

It was said in context to the argument that D3 was 12 years ago and they didnt build from that game.

They only said this because people are leaving their game… They don’t actually care what they did or who’s experience they ruined

neither are hard.

sure might die at times but they are by no means hard.

Credit where credit is due, not always a fan of your combative posts, but thanks for the detailed summary.

Otherwise, looks like team is good at nerfing all around. Nerf players, nerf mosters. All will be nerfed!!!

I am honestly just sick of the battle pass nonsense. I gave you 70$ leave me alone and let me play.

I really do not like this kind of income model for games. Put out your expansions and I would buy them if they have content I want. This who pass thing is just exhausting and repetitive kind of like the end game… actually kind of like the game in general. I left OW2 behind because it became too greed driven for my taste. I really used to love Blizzard. Now im just disappointed. Like yo Dad.

It was an indirect apology that they released an unfinished game. I didn’t expect that, but it makes sense because all the hardcore fans are grown ups.

It sucks to wait, but I think the game is going to the right direction.

Well no, not back then. But the developers, leads, so many have been replaced trying to create that game, and now the recruits that managed to launch the game are copypasting stuff from D3, while trying to re-package it all as something new.

It’s not a bad thing per se for them to do so, but it’s very uninspired and shows a lack of creativity. It’s just a factory farming money using patterns available to them, instead of artists showing their talent. It’s very sad.

As a consumer, all you can hope for in the end is that they make something enjoyable. And I really hope they manage to make barb enjoyable. Or else it’ll eventually lead to an uninstall, not even logging in again until they buff barbs significantly. I’m tired of struggling to gear up, needing near-perfect rolls on perfect stats just to be able to survive.

A melee-only shouldn’t have to kite if it’s not pulling more than 1 pack. That’s just basic. No matter the difficulty.

(A melee-only that needs to kite just 1 pack, makes it into a ranged class with just a very short range to damage stuff.)

Definitely a great session.

But poe is hard,

What i am trying to ask is what is hard?

about POE and making D4 too hard and unlikable. Like poe?

Ughmm the first two points in your tldr: kinda cancels each other out hahaha

o we anit fixing the nerfs but we are giving buffs… how do you un nerf a barb that reiles on 4 stat sticks or a sorc with no survivability without undoing something on the nerfs.

I would argue and entitled players, d3 fans, that want more of the same.

First time i have heard Joe mention Goofy goblins from D3 is after this hot mess.

SO yeah.

Just what i want in this desolate lands in sparkly coloured goblins.

This is what is making me hate D3.

It already exists, shut up and go play it, but no stream revenue.

Content,
New toy needs to be mine too.

Madness.

This is fine work. Probably deserves a sticky.

“We don’t plan on ever doing a patch like this again” are hollow, meaningless words. I’m not giving them a gold star for effort after-the-fact. This patch should have never come out in this state in the first place.

Does Blizzard not have internal playtesters who were capable of playing the patched version and saying, “Guys, these changes just don’t feel fun.” or “Hey, I understand why you’re nerfing vulnerability but without buffing anything else you’re not changing anything; everyone will still want vulnerability and crit, they’ll just be weaker.”?

Or are their playtesters too scared to speak up to their bosses? Because anyone playing this game could have seen these issues within literal minutes of playing post-patch.

Then their comment about why they nerfed Sorcerers just highlighted how completely clueless they are about their own game. They claim they nerfed them to “bring them in line” with other classes. In the late game, Sorc is already the worst class! There’s nothing to “bring in line”! There was pretty much only one viable build for pushing nightmare dungeon tiers and that one was heavily dependent on vulnerability, crit, and cooldown reduction – ALL of which were nerfed!

And they don’t consider nightmare dungeon tiers to be “end game”? Then what the hell is?! Certainly not Tree or Helltides. This game has no real endgame other than pushing nightmare dungeon tiers and trying to get to 100.

They took a bunch of softball questions and tapdanced around most of them, such as the non-answer they gave about extending the “exit dungeon” timer. They promised a few scraps of buffs and gave a single stash tab. Ultimately, the only thing this campfire chat showed is that they’re clueless about the game they built and their internal processes are a trainwreck.

Saying this was a “homerun” is laughably off the mark and borderline shilling.
