Bricked 3090 GPU

Dear Blizzard

Tonight I was playing Diablo 4 and I went to attack/participate in an event (whatever the bosses/events in the circles are). When I was about halfway though the event, both of my screens went blank. After trouble shooting and plugging into my built in GPU, I was able to determine that my GPU was bricked.

No lights, no RBG, not being recognized by my computer at all.

Make/Model: EVGA 3090 FTW3
Settings:
Windowed (fullscreen)
Drivers were the game day Nvidia release drivers
3840x2160
Sharpen 6
Max Foreground FPS 150
Max Background FPS 8
Quality Low

I know you had issues in the beta, but seriously, this should have been fixed for a released game, and if you could not fix it, you should have delayed it/pushed it back.

Now is the time for you to be transparent on this issue. What is going on, and what are you planning on doing to fix it.

the fact that theres no one else losing their minds over having a bricked gpu makes this kinda sus, like i dont doubt your gpu broke while playing d4, but i wonder if its really related to it, so far i havent seen any other reports, and i feel like there should be a lot more if this was actually an issue with the game itself.

How is it Blizzard’s fault you bricked your own hardware?

There was an emergency driver update for nvidia like 40 hours ago, specifically for diablo 4. Probably would have saved your card had you checked or enabled auto updates.

While its easy to blame blizzard, i was checking my drives every day for days leading up to friday, and then left it up during the pre launch incase something like that happened.

My 3090 is putting work in just fine. Sorry.

my 3090 stays at 40-50. fan cooled to, but I changed the fan settings and i run the GPU in high performance mode.

Or maybe “I tried OC my video card and now it won’t work”

In 30 years, I have NEVR SEEN A EVGA video card brick.

not once.

ever.

I am using RTX3090 too.
GPU temp about 75C hot spot / memory < 90C
They have fine tuned it already, at beta my GPU fan near full load…
Game can’t brick the GPU if the GPU don’t have problem…

and extremely fast SSDs

This I wish they were still around had them from the 460 to the 3080 ftw3 and never ever had a evga die

There’s multiple reports of GPUs being fried along with other GPU related issues.

Overclocking can’t brick a modern GPU unless you flash a different VBIOS or try to physically modify the card. The worst that can happen is a program becomes unresponsive, you get artifacting, or you just instantly crash back to the desktop screen.

Hardware breaks unfortunately. Not necessarily DIV’s fault.

Except their frame rate bug was breaking cards in beta for people who didn’t have it set in control panel as a back up. NW did the same thing on their launch. You can’t trust the devs to do the basics in any game anymore. Always set a max in your control panel.

I mean there is never really a good reason to exceed your monitors refresh rate in frames, even more so when it comes to exceeding a games intended frame rate. so just because you can push 800 fps, doesnt mean you should.
