I played exclusively werebear skills, combined with the 2 wolfs (aspects to turn them into werewolves on weap), and they do rabies (on totem).
I finished every quest that was able to be completed, and I have to say, I got my werebear fix in spades. Yes, it starts off slower, but by the time I wrapped up playing on Sunday night and abusing Grizzly Rage, I had zero complaints… except I couldn’t keep levelling.

Which abilities did you use for your dual storm/earth? I was hesitant to try a dual spell build because I was worried I didn’t have enough skill points to be happy with it.
Wow, you played the only semi-functional Druid build and think Druids are fine! Well thank goodness you aren’t in charge of skill balance. I also played Druids, a lot, I tried werebear, nado, rabies, earth, and storm builds. Werewolf/rabies build is the only semi-functional build. The rest are maybe okay for the initial levels, then completely drop off. The Druid is riddled with issues, especially in comparison to other classes such as Sorc and Necro. Yes, the core feature of druids was for some reason not given to us in this beta, but I highly doubt the Spirit system will bring Druids even close to these other specs. I’m sorry but it’s really silly to play one halfway decent spec and claim that Druids are fine. No, they’re actually dumpster tier. I had a rabies druid pretty well kitted out in legendaries and well-itemized gear and I was doing more damage on a level 15 Necro with crap gear.
I used:
- Storm Strike
- Landslide
- Hurricane
- Earthen Bulwark
- Creeping Vines (+1 from a Rare quality necklace)
- Cataclysm and sometimes Petrify
With the node to give Basic 30% more spirit generation and the spirit reduction cost of a totem, I was almost 1:1 on Storm Strike:Landslide for generation and spending. I think it was 20 generated and 28 spent. I took nodes that gave Storm Vulnerability application and extra damage on CC’d enemies since Landslide Immobilizes with the first modifier. Landslide was also my only +5 skill and I had +1 on one of my equipped items. I “splurged” a little and put a point in Charged Atmosphere (random lightning) and Bad Omen, giving me a Lucky Hit chance to deal 55% damage via a lightning strike when hitting a Vulnerable or Immobilized foe.
The basic idea was to use Bulwark and Hurricane, Creeping Vine active, then Storm Strike 2x into Landslide. It was pretty fun to just spam Landslide into an enemy too with excess spirit. Of course, still missing some really important nodes such as Nature’s Fury and more support for Vuln/Immobilize due to the limitations of the beta.
It’s likely to be my leveling build, too. Bulky, chunks elites near instantly, and some interactions that require at least a little bit of thought. It has a Legendary that works really well with it but doesn’t enable it called Aspects of Natural Balance. There may be better ones, I didn’t really get ones that directly worked with the build other than that.
Edit: In the full game, I’ll likely change out Creeping Vines with Debilitating Roar for the DR, Slow, and extra spirit with Clarity node. It was strong enough for the beta. But, I think it’ll definitely have lots of room to grow (and look forward to) during the full game.

That sounds pretty good! Thank you for sharing. I’m going to have to give that a try come launch

i am unlucky with gear drops even with this multiplier. So i had to do it all with whatever i had.
as I leveled I ran – MIssnado, storm strike, vine creeper (replaced with wolves for some bosses as needed), earth shield and cyclone armor, hurricane.
overall – i managed.
Once I over-maxed my druid and was in nuke mode with my lighting proc build.
I lvled an alt.
Boy!!! the experience was totally diff x]. Makes you question why on earth must druids be in such a sorry state. Totally see this being worse with the lower loot drop chance.
necro – pets do everything.
Sorc – chain lighting kills everything.
Rogue – bow = easy mode.
What legendaries did you manage to find that let you beat the Act I boss as a pure wolf build inside of 20 minutes? Because with just rares, wolf does absolutely garbage damage.
I killed him with a rabies/poision build since it was the highest damage I could make wolf output, and it must have taken at least 15 minutes. It was pure pain.
I ran that final boss at level 25 and I had the nighthowl gives crit one. Besides that just defensive like taking reduced damage in werewolf form. I ran a poison wolf w/ vine creeper build. It was a lot harder on barbarian at 25.
Few that’s pretty long, but the werewolf has great lifesteal potential to stand and manfight.
I killed Butcher in about 20 seconds with level 25 barbarian with a 2/4 upgraded 2H axe. Build:
Rend/Frenzy/rally cry/warcry/stomp combo that gives +80% attack speed on core crits, +15% dmg in stomp earth quake, bleeds enhance crit chance and 40% chance to stun for 2 sec, heal up to 48/sec near enemies, core increase dmg on max fury, +28% crit chance vs injured, +55% CC duration (synergy with stun from bleed), +20 fury on rend dmg on bleed, and 8second bubble.
Small clip to demo- this was before I dropped challenging shout and berserker (wish recorded on bigger mobs :()

By no means the best rend build, but one of the more fun ones and was able to manfight Butcher
EDIT: Or imgur link- dunno how these things work
