finished Act I with druid and hit 25 at the end (with World Tier 2)

I loved it, didn’t see the hate about it, went with werewolf talents and just went at it

didn’t see why there was people ranting about it

I think most of the complaints were on the spell casting/werebear side of things.

I played as werewolf and loved it

Did you crack the game or something? You can’t finish act 1 in the open beta.
I tried to do a “quick shift” style druid and it felt very clunky. I would have to spam-click some abilities to get them to go off for some reason. I didn’t have the issue with any other class.

Mostly bad feedback comes for werebear. I played it all along from lvl 1-25 and it felt super weak. My whole gear and skills are based on damage reduction and fortify and I was dying from 3 hits from butcher all 3 times I encountered him. As a werewolf it does way more dmg and has life steal, I rarely even used a healing potion, but as a werebear I wish I had 20 potions instead of 5.
Ppl don’t get that beta has 300% increased drop rates and if a build really needs 10+ legendaries to be viable then the build really sucks. And count that with the live drop rates, we mostly won’t even find that many legendaries to make werebear viable.

Why not to just make Necro and dominate everything. Countless videos showing Necro killing butcher within seconds.

What do you mean you can’t finish Act 1? I finished it aswell, lol. It’s just you can’t progress further since you get the OPEN BETA message after Act 1 questline is done.

I also liked my Werewolf with Hurricane build druid.

Altho I agree, it needs some fine tunning and QoL changes.

I started as werewolf druid but struggled with survivability so switched to bear which was…ok. Not great. It was hard for me. I was using the hp potion all the time. I got to 25. Big bosses i had to be really careful fighting.

Compared to necro, which i also leveled to 25. Necro was a face roll and felt really powerful.
Big bosses i pressed buttons and they died.

I played world tier 2 or whatever it was called, same as everyone i expect. For Act 1 the necro actually felt about right while the druid felt like i was playing a world tier or 2 higher. I didn’t try a caster druid so i’m sure that would have been a different experience.
I’m guessing that the necro will feel weaker at higher levels/world levels while the druid will just get stronger, kinda like in D2. But who knows, will have to wait and see.

a necro killed it in 12 seconds. Dang. I enjoy werewolf but i took way longer. i don’t think this is my fastest kill but still way longer then that.

Druid is sleeper status. I leveled 3 to 25 this beta weekend doing different builds, caster/companion, bear / hybrid, and lightning storm (although this last one left a bad taste in my mouth. imo lightning storm needs to be brought back to the drawing board. at this rate make it a mini-hammer of the ancients with an aoe are or something).

I was able to level pretty easy in three different wants - main/side quests, spamming world events, and the last one was just raw map exploration while I killed things (this last one was only frustrating due to the massive stuttering that is in the game).

My best druid build, which wasn’t perfect at all mind you, had Landslides critting for 4.5-5.5k, and pulvs coming in about at 4.2-4.4. My damage reduction was about 75% from passives alone.

It’s a great, great class. The build possibilities are insane too which I’m ultra excited to explore on game release. I’ll do a short review later, but unfortunately for now, it’s time for bed because of gainable employment and all that.

I had a hybrid werewolf/werebear build that was so fun and nearly perfect, I don’t even know if I need to use an Ultimate skill really. I don’t get the complaints, it’s like people want things to die instantly at all levels(level 1 included) but don’t want anything to die instantly either?

Druid is fine, maybe some slight buffs are needed in some places but the class balance will always be wacky.

I killed the butcher on my level 22 necro but failed on my druid and barb. Thing with my necro is I had to kite him into packs of mobs to generate corpses to raise my skellies and drop health pots or even my necro would of failed. But by far best class to play for me along with rogue. Other classes are weak in comparison I felt.

Have you tried other classes in the Beta?

I love Druid aswell and he is most probably going to be my first char once D4 releases but damn, I made a Necro for comparison and boy… as if I played another game.
Druid is really underperforming when compared to other classes (to be fair, Necro is also overtuned) but I hope Blizzard will fine tune the classes in the upcoming montsh before release.

I played barb as well to 25. and my friends played necro. Honestly, when we were all 25 and I was on my druid, I always felt I did the most contribution by a long run. Watching them dps from the sidelines to when I would get in and tank and dps both, was night and day difference.

Sorcs are rumored to hit for 6k. Maybe. They dont have the damage reduction druids do.

My barb did great damage, but lacked in survivability that my druid had tons of.

I dunno, I think the “druids are bad” is a meme either carried on by grifters like asmonmald, or people just don’t understand the interactions of the class.

That is clearly my own opinion though.

You can enjoy him.
But that doesnt change the fact compared to all other classes he is the weakest with the worst early game.
he may be a beast late game or at max level, but exping him early without legendaries because now we have like 10x the drop rate that will be on release will be masochism level of play.

At this point I’m going to need raw stats/data. Because from what I saw and tested on both Ashava, the level 35 Elite west of Nostrava, and 4 player dungeons, if anyone was underperforming it was them.

And we don’t even have our class mechanics yet (crushing blow and buffs), I can see why now blizzard removed them from the class for this beta (crushing blow that is)

nobody will give you raw data.
Blizz hates publishing anything, unless it is a huge success.

I played all classes, necro was walk in the park, rogue has 20x better single target boss evaporation than anything other I’ve played.
Druid felt most weak and painful to exp and play.
And I tired wolf, bear, storm, earth, summons.

So how are you saying classes are underperforming without actual raw data?

I’m telling you now, it’s grifters trying to get views or players who suffer from terminal dunning krugers who say druids are bad.

This guy says his build is amazing,

This guy runs his “speed” build.

These two at max rank compared to my druid did not compare to the pulverizes and landslides I was putting out (and that wasn’t even close to perfectly optimized). I walked into 4 player level 25 dungeons and one pulverize would clear the room. 2-3 landslides killed elites, and 10-15 killed bosses.

That’s a 4 man scaled dungeon.

And as for the butcher, like the Werewolf video, I face tanked him the entire time.

I’m telling you the forums are wrong. Which I don’t mind, just means devs arent going to touch druid and I’m going to ride it to the bank on the hard scaling it does.

So how are you saying druid isnt underperforming without actual raw data?

You say he’s OP, I say he is weak.
None of us has any data.

I checked forum, there are hundreds of complains about how weak he is.
I checked streamers playing him, checked reddit, most people agree he is weak.

Perhaps you know something we don’t?

i’m not a great player. is killing the butcher in about 3 minutes fine?

Yeah as I already said, werewolf has way more dmg and life steal which werebear counts on fortify and dmg reduction which is silly and can’t do much. I played for hours as a werebear and manage to find some core legendaries but still seems so weak. Then switched to werewolf and saw that it really does way more dmg and almost don’t even need healing potions cause of its life steal. I would accept me being bad as werebear if I was alone seeing this, but searching in the internet about werebear, sadly all find it weak especially when on the hand there is the Necro who devours everything within seconds.

At level 10, I respec’d my druid for full werewolf just because that’s what I wanted to do at the beginning and got sidetracked because it was underwhelming, but after making the switch and adding higher levels of shred with dash on it and higher levels of Howl, I started to enjoy the build more. Then, I got some wolf pets and they weren’t as bad as people were saying. It was still difficult to kill bosses and I think druids need a buff in that regard, but I did start to have fun with it. I only got to to level 16 with it, though, because I really enjoyed Sorc and Necro more and I wanted to spend more time with them.
