Bash Builds Are Going to Hell Now in S5 PTR?

Apparently with the correct uniques it actually got buffed.

Zero luck trying to get the sword that apparently makes it all work. Can craft all the necessary Ubers from dead Eternal builds but cannot use what the game refuses to give me. Why is it that we can craft ubers but not uniques? Sense. None.

The build, using the new sword, but not the helm, feels almost as good as the live version. The 25 resource costs can be negated in a variety of ways (basic resource gen temper on rings), skill tree, etc.

The unfortuante part of this, is the sword is only really useable on basic skills that have a nautrally high generator value already, so build variety has suffered, once again. You would have to use too many sources of generation (skill tree, tempers, aspects) for the sword to be useable on anything that generates less than 7-8 resource per cast.

Why would you ever take more than 1 Bash Cleave as a Weapon Temper if Damage to Close, While Berserking, etc. all have much higher additive bonuses? If Blizzard’s intention is to “fix it” add parity between Basic Skills and remove the ridiculous scaling, the solution is easy.

  • Paingorgers no longer marks targets damaged by non-basic attacks and next basic deals a non-snapshot damage to them. Instead, Paingorgers allows all Basic Skills to Cleave.
  • Bash Damage Weapon Temper gets removed and replaced with Bash Utility Temper similar to Lunging Strike and Flay. All Basic Attacks should be Utility Tempers and not Weapon Tempers, even if they increase the damage.
  • +Basic Skill Damage Weapon Tempers added. This additive bonus would match Damage to Distant enemies at +85%-115% Basic Skill Damage.

Now, you can choose to truly build using any of the Basic Skills. Even using Paingorgers as Utility support for non-Basic Builds would be viable considering you could hit multiple enemies to generate Fury very fast, apply Lucky Hit and Status effects, conditionals etc.

Basic Skills should be viable as Primary damage, but should require a lot of investment to compete with Core Skills. Core Skills will need their Base Damage increased.

This is what happened my dude:
Bash was bugged with Multiplicative dmg in S4.
Blizz posted patch notes to fix bash in S4.
Barbs cried soooo hard.
Blizz said “Nah buds it was a typo, from a previous season notes.”
Barbs believed this, they are barb players after all.
Blizz is now fixing Bash, but even Barbs need 2 seasons to forget.

Did PTR/S5 actually fix the bugged Bash multiplicative damage Temper, or did they just lower the value to 20%? I don’t know. I know what it says, but it also says that for S4 now, and yet it’s multiplicative now on Live.

So that’s why I stated what I did. Even at 20% Bash Temper, if the damage is still multiplicative, it’s far better than an additive Temper. Did you test it on PTR with value changes against actual dealt damage to determine the delta? I didn’t.

It doesn’t matter what they call it, just the outcome is important.

It does in a way. If Blizzard had consistency, they would label things appropriately, stick to it, document changes, and call out bugs that are causing things to not function as intended.

S4 Bash just highlights exactly how poorly they do at that.

  • Bash Temper Multiplicative, not Additive
  • No official statement by Blizzard addressing it
  • “Mistaken” Patch notes addressing it
  • Zero S5/PTR notes correcting it

So you are correct. It’s as if Blizzard doesn’t want players to discover what is already widely known about Bash/Temper, or doesn’t wish to admit their mistake. And the truly sad part? Bash/Temper is but just one example.

As I stated above - we don’t even know if S5/PTR actually fixed multiplicative Bash/Temper without testing delta vales ourselves. We know what the game states, but we can’t trust it.

They have a team that works on how to manipulate the player base to increase the shareholder revenue.

? Bash is literally more broken now then ever…

Additive and lowered the amount, double whammy. It is just designed poorly.

These new basic attack uniques are TIER SS. So much for anyone using anything else.

Unless you’re the Sorc class designer…

Okie doke. Finally got a well-rolled Crown of Lucion and shard (300x) of verathiel. I can kill tormented beast in the ice first phase. It’s very decent. lol. keep in mind also using a grandfather, starless skies, etc. Damage w/o the tempers is better than what it is in season 4. So don’t worry about bash. We are okie dokie.

It’s coming in a new season anyway. You start from scratch, and work up to it. I wouldn’t be worried about rerolling tempers right now lol

Your idea for Paingorger changes is great… for Barbarians. The item is a generic unique for all classes, and your changes just made a bunch of stuff jump out of balance for everyone else.

You can have the Unique work differently depending on the Class

Of course it is. To think the D4 team has any actual basic ability to code, much less balance the game is as good as borrowing your auntie Hilda’s walker, to qualify for a snowboarding competition.

Lucion is the biggest offender by far that produces quadrillion, trillion, billion numbers.

It is bugged, very likely to get nerfed

I was planning to keep playing this particular character into eternal though
