Are we sure that D4 will just have cash shop cosmetics?

They actually stated that WoW classic would not have p2w tokens. Fast forward to today…

I mean, you can’t make this sht up anymore with Blizzards greed.
I give it it 6 months and Diablo 4 has QOL items pushing p2w in the cash shop, if not straight up Diablo Tokens to trade for gold.

It will!!!

For now…

i never played wow but how are tokens that grant ingame time pay to win?

They’re tradeable, so it essentially just becomes a legal way to buy gold. Albeit, at worse rates than real gold sellers

they give gold  and then gold can buy big BoE items. that’s what sodapoppin does when he revisits retail… buys token cap every week until he’s pimped out in BoEs  then quits when the normal ppl finally catch up.

gold is also tied to your m+ rate/performance as well. consumables. its very expensive if you do that all day non-stop.

There is literally nothing we can do to point the answer one way or the other than that they have repeatedly said they will not sell power. Complain about it when it happens rather than wasting time or brainpower doing it now.

WoW tokens are paid for with real money and can be exchanged for gold from other players. It’s literally a legal way to buy gold.

I cuts down on gold sellers a lot by just making that transaction part of the game. Would be nice if they actually moderated the game; but since they won’t they may as we’ll make some money I guess.

With all the KFCs and buy this headset for a cosmetic it seems they are gonna do whatever they think they can get away with. The only reason it’s not pay for power is because it would cause a big uproar if they tried to push it that far.

I was gonna do the season pass, but at this point I’ve decided not to at all…

I wish the Battlepass wasn’t tied to the season. The design should be like other BP games where your main characters can level the BP.

But i’ve fought that battle here. Kinda is what it is now.

Diablo 4 will be Free 2 Play two years after it comes out, selling P2W mechanics. You know, if they do to D4 what they did to Overwatch.

We think we do, but we don’t

I’m planning to play the seasons, but Im not gonna pay for the “battlepass” (I ment battlepass, not season pass haha)

For now, I think no. Down the road? Who can say. Depends how many new yachts bobby feels like buying in the next few years.

Of course? Why would a company not do whatever it can to make money, assuming they can “get away with it”

If the vast majority of players don’t care about cosmetic microtransactions, then yeah, they’ll add them. We’ve known about cosmetic microtransactions for months, and seemingly people aren’t that bothered by them in general

Whether those microtransactions are within the in-game store, or on twitch, or part of some headset… it’s irrelevant, imo. A cosmetic microtransaction is a cosmetic microtransaction, regardless of what form it takes. You were never realistically going to own every cosmetic microtransaction in the first place, and if you were really willing to drop the tens of thousands of dollars it will eventually take to obtain them all, then buying a headset is not going to stop you

And yeah, the big issue will be if/when they add P2W options into the game. Like others have said however, we have no way of knowing whether they will. It’s possible. It always has been, and always will be, possible. If you aren’t okay with this possibility of them changing their minds in 8 years, then don’t buy the game. Don’t buy any game, realistically, because you can never be 100% sure of how any game will progress

Because there is such thing as reputation? Some companies care about that, some don’t. Bottom line maximum money isn’t always the maximum amount of money, due to many other factors.

That being said, Activision/Blizzards reputation is pretty far in the gutter. Wonder if they care to get out of it?

It’s just become tiresome at this point. I expect companies to do it sure. Doesn’t mean I have to like it.

I would love it if U could just earn all the cool stuff by playing the game. I’d happily pay a sub instead of this nonsense.

I miss the days when if you wanted people to to sub to a game you made the game fun, not this “limited time only,” FOMO, gimmicky stuff we get these days.

Don’t worry, once Blizzard crunches the numbers and realizes a majority would love to purchase a premium Battlepass but refusing to play a trash seasonal character mode, that will all change.

Clearly, reputation doesn’t seem to matter. People will still buy your products regardless. You have to do something pretty extreme at this point in order to drive customers away, and even then I’m not sure that’s enough. Just look at Immortal, that game still had people defend it and still had people spend literally hundreds of thousands of dollars on the game

If you don’t trust in Blizzard, that’s perfectly fine and reasonable. I don’t have huge hopes for them either. But if you can’t trust them at their word, and knowing the potential for P2W is there, then don’t buy the game.

Personally, unless they add P2W microtransactions within the first season, then I’m going to get my moneys worth before P2W is ever added. And I’m fine with that. If P2W is added in the future, that sucks, but I’ll simply stop playing the game and never buy any future expansions

No, you don’t have to like it. I agree, personally I would rather pay a sub fee than have cosmetic microtransactions. That being said, I am okay with cosmetic microtransactions. I can see there are some pros and cons to that method, as there is with a sub fee. If I am okay with cosmetic microtransactions, then I fail to see why it matters whether those exist in the in-game store, or whether they exist in KFC or wherever else

It’s definitely not the end of the world or anything. I’m still planning to play the game. The micro transaction way just feels substantially more manipulative I guess. A lot of times it feels like the effort goes into the cash shop more than the game itself with this kind of business model.

I like a sub, because it feels like that gives the company an incentive to make the game fun, or in some cases grindy granted, to get me to sub.
