Anyone else get code 52 perma ban for no reason

My dad was finishing up one of his characters during a helltide he gets disconnected and his d4 account banned, keeps reading code 52 when he tries to log in - he literally has no idea why he was banned; the whole thing is absurd, hundreds of hours wasted for no reason - we made a ticket but they said nothing and marked the problem as resolved without resolving anything; waiting for response on 2nd ticket

There’s code 52 you can get when you disconnected but your character is still in the world somewhere, probably getting killed by a low level demon.

Did he try again after a bit? It can take a few minutes to clear itself. It would be pretty weird if it kept going.

We have been trying for a few days for him to get back in, and we sent in a ticket but that didn’t help, trying to send in another - no time limit on this ban it just reads as if it’s forever as well

I swear 95 percent of the time it turns out the dude was running a bot or something but hey, who knows.

My dad doesn’t know how to do anything like that - I’m happy he can even play with me (doesn’t know how to bot I mean)

I don’t know how to help except to try and contact support if it’s like that, I hope you and your dad can get it worked out though.

Thank you appreciate the kindness here, we are trying but I don’t think anything is going to happen with it not sure what to do I doubt support cares

Blizzard can’t really even make a decent game, so it’s no surprise they also can’t moderate it appropriately.

They probably just randomly ban people who don’t play often or post on forums just to be able to say they banned hackers/cheaters every so often.

When in reality they are just randomly selecting people who they think won’t make too much of a public debacle about it.

It does seem this way because we have absolutely no idea what’s going on, and we have both been customers for a long time, especially me.

report the problem to a consumer association. this is the only way to get a reply from a clown company. In my country for a thing like that … you get a money and a total refund.

Check the email associated with the account. If he was actually banned banned, he would have received an email about it.

He did receive an email and we sent a ticket; again we have no idea why or what’s going on, our first ticket was marked resolved (without being resolved) and waiting on a response on our 2nd

There have been a couple false bans here and there. Only 2 that I know of for D4.

Were you playing with him in a party? Anyone else in said party? Did you guys do anything that would be even remotely considered an exploit? Even if it wasn’t intentional, blizz can be stupid about exploits.

That is all just for trying to think of why he might have been banned. The only thing to do to solve it is to keep sending tickets. If they closed the first one without any reply at all, then that is something borked on their end.

My dad told me he had joined a random group of people doing a helltide, I was away, he says they were just going around killing stuff like usual getting cinders so he has no idea why this happened

The same thing happened to my dog. For the past three days, we have been drinking and wondering why.

your dad uses a VPN for work ?.
he did play the game with the VPN enabled ?.
blizzard can ban when your users seems “shared” with others.
try to ask him.

He doesn’t use a vpn

ok guy, i know is not normal but i immediately report the problem to a consumer association. Some association works free of charge for this things. try to search one in your country.

In my country if you get a ban the company is forced to give you the evidence of the infraction within 60 working days. without response all transaction beetween you and the company is refunded immediately and the company has to deal with the judge

There are a few others who have posted about account penalties on Tech Support with error 52 (account banned). Below is what I posted for them.

Error code 52 is an account Suspension or Ban. You should have gotten an email sent to the email address on your Battlenet account that tells you the category of infraction and the means to appeal. That appeal is only done via ticket. Ticket times are around a few days right now.

A quick reminder of the sorts of things Blizzard will penalize an account for is below. That includes account sharing/pilots, automation of any gameplay including rotations, selling gold/items/carries, any outside software that is not approved by Blizzard, etc.

License Limitations. Blizzard may suspend or revoke your license to use the Platform, or parts, components and/or single features thereof, if you violate, or assist others in violating, the license limitations set forth below. You agree that you will not, in whole or in part or under any circumstances, do the following:

  1. Derivative Works: Copy or reproduce (except as provided in Section 1.B.), translate, reverse engineer, derive source code from, modify, disassemble, decompile, or create derivative works based on or related to the Platform.
  2. Cheating: Create, use, offer, promote, advertise, make available and/or distribute the following or assist therein:
  • cheats; i.e. methods not expressly authorized by Blizzard (whether accomplished using hardware, software, a combination thereof, or otherwise), influencing and/or facilitating gameplay, including exploits of any in-game bugs, and thereby granting you and/or any other user an advantage over other players not using such methods;
  • bots; i.e. any code and/or software, not expressly authorized by Blizzard, that allows the automated control of a Game, or any other feature of the Platform, e.g. the automated control of a character in a Game;
  • hacks; i.e. accessing or modifying the software of the Platform in any manner not expressly authorized by Blizzard; and/or
  • any code and/or software, not expressly authorized by Blizzard, that can be used in connection with the Platform and/or any component or feature thereof which changes and/or facilitates the gameplay or other functionality;
  1. Prohibited Commercial Uses: Exploit, in its entirety or individual components, the Platform for any purpose not expressly authorized by Blizzard, including, without limitation (i) playing the Game(s) at commercial establishments (subject to Section 1.B.v.3.); (ii) gathering in-game currency, items, or resources for sale outside of the Platform or the Game(s); (iii) performing in-game services including, without limitation, account boosting or power-leveling, in exchange for payment; (iv) communicating or facilitating (by text, live audio communications, or otherwise) any commercial advertisement, solicitation or offer through or within the Platform; or (v) organizing, promoting, facilitating, or participating in any event involving wagering on the outcome, or any other aspect of, Blizzard’s Games, whether or not such conduct constitutes gambling under the laws of any applicable jurisdiction, without authorization.

Any software that provides functionality to the game that is not intended is considered “cheating” and not allowed. I don’t work there so can’t see anything about the OP’s account, but wanted to clarify that for you. Hacks are not the only thing Blizzard does not allow.

Doesn’t the email say why?

Pretty sure they tell you why you get banned.
