I’ve had the same crashes like all the people here. I’ve tried everything for days from changing ingame settings one at the time to updating bios. From fresh Windows 10 install to capping fps to 60/80/120/141 etc. Cleaning out my Corsair 500D/switching GPU (to my older Asus Rog Strix 5700XT). Lowering voltage/performance on cpu/gpu. Fresh install of D4 without High texture pack.
Crashes still happend randomly within an hour (complete restart of system)
Then I remembered I use a custom PBO setting on my 5800x to make it more efficient (lowering temp a lot and oc a little) which never gave me any problems for the last 18 months.
So I’ve reset all bios settings (Factory default) The only changes I’ve made in the bios are:
Negative offset to my voltage on cpu by 0.0375. (note: This works fine on my 5800x. Every 5800x is different ofcourse)
Memory on DOCP 3600mhz
Enable resiseable bar for S.A.M.
Result: no crashes at all for the last 3 hours. (not using high texture pack but I will try this too)
Ingame settings: High. No FSR. FPS capped at 141.
I’ll keep you all posted if there are any changes.
Hope this helps,

Are you using Ultra textures? Decrease to High if you do. Uninstall high-rez texture pack.
Radeon cards don’t brick like Gigabyte 3080Ti do, don’t worry.
I play on exactly the same system 5800X + 6800XT, powered by EVGA 850W 80Plus Gold. No problems at all.
I already have an 850W (Corsair MX850 or something I believe), I will be upgrading it to a 1000W Bequiet platinum. This was already planned as I am adding a bunch of HDD’s for storage and wanted to make sure I wasn’t pushing it too hard.
I had downgraded graphics from ultra to high, and ended up undervolting my GPU also.
One thing I did see mentioned in another thread which set off a lightbulb moment… They said they had disabled hardware acceleration in the bnet launcher.
This reminded me of the start to wow dragonflight for me. The game was essentially unplayable, the stuttering was so bad and it ultimately would end up with the game freezing/crashing (no PC hardlocks though that I remember).
There’s a part of me that thinks that Blizzard have somehow screwed up the hardware acceleration aspect again. I had to disable hardware acceleration in every app I would use alongside wow (browsers, discord, music etc), but as soon as I did the problem disappeared.
I didn’t have any locks yesterday, HOWEVER, I have had the occasional day where I was able to play without one before. I’ll report back in a day or so.
AMD 6900xt here. Teleporting sometimes causes a BSOD. Starting a nightmare keystone and teleporting always causes a BSOD. Was fine until the last patch… Reinstalled display adapter drivers, adrenaline, reinstalled the game, removed the assets. I give up.
Issues here probably not about the driver and I really do not think that is really related with your GPU as well. I also use 6800 XT and there were days that I was able to play without any crashes but there were also times that I’ve got game crashes constantly and not getting any better until I restart the PC and hope for the best.
Not planning to disable/remove that high texture pack since the game supposedly run better or gave me a warning to remove or update settings automatically depending on the hardware. Plese also note that I was able to run Beta without any trouble and this time I actually got my equipment upgraded with new PSU, GPU and also NVMe drive.
Unsure if you have figured it out or not already, but, to submit a ticket you need to visit the Support site and click on the category that fits the issue you are having.
I highly doubt it’s driver or hardware related. Like you I also can have days of play without crashes, or days where I’m crashing every 5 minutes. I’ve tried fresh installs of both windows 10 and 11, fresh drivers on both, old drivers on both, reduced settings to minimum, disabled on board graphics, larger page file, clearing caches. Different memory, different graphics cards (5700XT and GTX770 - so both AMD and Nvidia - both with fresh installs between switching to eliminate driver conflicts)
This is almost certainly a bug within the game’s code. I have zero issues with any other games.
It is 100% a coding issue. I have been having the same issues on my major gaming desktop, game runs fine on my dumpster fire laptops from like 5-6 years ago…kinda sad that they’d allow this to happen…and not even be actively trying to fix the mistake.
Game can be played smoothly from 2023.06.02
after the latest patch with 13 blue pages?
it start crashing every once a while, sometime just after 1 min play.
I will track this, and see if they really ignore any feedback from players!!!
I have the freezing issue during game play. It’s weird that everything is still happening but the video is frozen. The only workaround I have found is opening Task Manager (Ctrl, Alt, Del), doing absolutely nothing to the settings and just closing the window. It only takes a few seconds, and I can usually keep from dying that way. Works every time.
(AMD Ryzen 7 5800, 32GB, 6800XT, 1 TB SSD, Win 11, D4 Ultra settings, 1440)
thank you blizzard for making us waste 70 euros unnecessarily for something that doesn’t work and messes with our computer with constant freezes!
Funny thing is that they worked with amd to come out with bad drivers hahaha what A WASTE OF MONEY!
i don’t get this, i can play every game in my pc but not diablo 4 with constant crashes, make no sense the problem is my pc… i have RX 5700XT and tried 3 differents drivers and still crash, pls blizzard read this!!
Stop wasting your time trying to fix this on our end. It is affecting nearly every type of GPU from older Raytheon and Nvidia to the newest top end cards. It is not a driver issue, it is a poorly optimized game issue.
Blizz knows, and are trying to fix it, but every fix makes it affect more people. Do not let them tell you it is your fault, this is entirely a Blizz caused issue, that began showing up over 2 weeks ago.
Add my name to the list of 6800xt random freezing with audio playing and being forced to restart. I’ve tried a number of things but will continue to do so until i find a fix and report it here.
6800XT here with dual identical monitors (sometimes I think this is the because I’ll have a webpage open on the other monitor, click on it, then come back and freeze up, but this is not always the case. When it freezes up I still hear audio. The only workaround I’ve found was to press alt + tab, sometimes have to do it twice. The video is restored. I’m so used to doing it really fast now that I’m not usually dead once the video is restored. However it still angers me every time it happens. I’ve completly gutted video drivers, fresh install, chipset drivers, disabled AV, tried suggestions from multiple forums, lowered a ton of video settings, nothing…alt + tab makes it snap back but problem occurs daily, usually multiple times per hour. There hasn’t been an AMD driver release since prior to the launch 5/23/23 version 23.5.2…sigh.
On Linux it does not happen. Game is perfectly stable and I’ve yet to encounter one single game crash or system crash. It just not happening. I am playing on 5800X + Radeon 6800XT, 4K 144Hz, everything on max.
If anyone has a skill to quickly boot up Mint or MX Linux USB stick in live mode, and install Lutris application, you can try there. No need to install system on your hard drive even with little bit of luck you can play from live usb mode, no changes to your Windows system
