I feel like it’s beyond time for Diablo to move on past seasonal resets being the main aspect of endgame. I’m tired of constantly having to start over again just to do it all over again…and again…and again.
I know it’s never happening, but I wish D4 had gone with more of an MMO route with endgame group dungeons and raids, or some other method of endless progression for permanent characters. Seasonal resets were fine in D2 and 3 but I feel like D4 was the time to move past that (but they could still have seasons as a separate mode for folks that want it).
Anyone else agree?

Nope it’s how Diablo has been and how it should be. There is a reason they have the eternal realm and it’s for people who don’t like the season aspect… mostly destiny 2 players. Seasons are amazing and make it like getting a brand new game every 3 months that’s free and you don’t need to pay for.

Right but there’s virtually nothing to do in eternal realms. You’re still stuck at lvl 100
I’m sure you’re not the only one but that doesn’t mean they should stop doing them. Eternal is always an option.
I play for the seasons and if they stopped doing them I’d probably stop playing.
And THAT is why no one plays eternal and we all play diablo because it has seasons… without seasons there would be nothing to do at all. So NOPE keep the seasons they are fun!

I feel like you aren’t understand what I’m asking for.
it just needs to be 4-6 months instead of 3, with way more content each season. 3 months is the common trend but its obviously too short to be able to associate any true value with your character/season journey and therefore never really worth it to grind hard for an optimized character.
most people just clear their main goals (ex: hit lvl 100) and then quit in a few days to a week depending how efficiently they play. also its the same for PoE.

Test your heroes w/o the seasonal perks. Lots of people can do high end with vampiric powers, a robot pet that clears rooms, etc… How good are you solo?
The game is based on making new chars just like its predecessors or other aRPGs, so you need to change it first for a new system to work.

I’m not tired of them, it gives me an opportunity to try other classes because I wouldn’t otherwise. And it keeps everyone on an equal footing with a fresh start and new balance. People would cry way more if their overpowered builds were nerfed and they used them permanently, if permanent characters were the norm / focus. I also like the different ideas even if some of them are trash. There’s also a timeline for balance and changes and updates, so that they don’t go forever without updating like they did with their previous games. It took a lifetime for them to release patches for Diablo 2 and Starcraft.
I like the online / live service / seasonal focus, and this is coming from a singleplayer gamer. They just need more content and depth.

Yes, you are the only one tired of seasons. You can feel free to play on eternal.
after you get all the stuff the game (any game) gets boring af
Nope. I kinda like the reset. Nice to start over and see how fast i can relevel and min/max.
Seasonal content is a nice addition. Not crazy about the robot, but i like the vaults for the most part. 90’s NMV rains gear so min/max is super quick.
Everything that has a beginning has an end.
And real money level boosts that make you skip most of the game?
I only play eternal. The fomo power spike design of seasonal never appealed to me.
That said, there is a distinct lack of care from the dev team for eternal; there is less content and the seasonal powers design plan leads me to believe that there is less concern for class balance, which affects eternal as it doesnt have those powers.

nothing wrong with playing on eternal. i played non season D3 forever, lol.
I think seasons should build on one another instead of starting over every 3 months.
We should have malignant hearts, vampire powers, and the seneschal pet at the same time. Once in a while they can clear the table and start fresh.
But like… why? I feel like I’d understand if MMO options were lacking, but they aren’t. There are several games out right now that give you exactly what you’re asking for, chief among them being the other flagship Blizzard title that has dominated the genre for 20 years starting this year.
For me, if I’m in the mood to play an MMO, I go play an MMO. If I’m in the mood to play a MOBA, I play a MOBA. If I’m in the mood to play a seasonal ARPG, I play a seasonal ARPG. At not point do I ask for any of those games to be more like the other.

Yeah, I’ve been sick of them since they started, lol. It doesn’t make any sense to start over.
It wasn’t even added until years after in DII, which really sucked. Seasons suck.

I am tired of these posts, it doesn’t matter what we think of seasons, it’s seasonal play or eternal realms.
