“Brand new game” XD made my day…
The seasonal model isn’t the problem, it’s Diablo 4’s base game itemization and endgame loop.
It’s designed like a linear RPG and not a cyclic ARPG. I mean, they gave the guy who drove Gears of War into the ground the helm of a hack and slash ARPG looter… what did you really expect here.
Very few people I imagine.
The only other option to keep the game fresh would be to continuously add new things, which leads to ridiculous power creep, so seasons is the way to go, imo.
It just feels that each season is 95% old content and 5% new content. Thats why it feels so bad restarting again each season.
Rod didn’t come until later. There’s probably a lot of reasons & layers as to why it ended up the way it did. Changing key developers in the midst of the lawsuit probably didn’t help. And by changing I mean quitting or getting fired because of it.
I have 5 friends that game together regularly. I don’t mind re-leveling, but they weren’t into it. They all quit due to seasons.
Rob is the general manager, the game director is Joe Shely.
That said, Rob certainly can influence the direction D4 takes, but certainly not in the granular level.
LOL I bet the diablo team loves people like you. You must be the only person on earth that thinks that robot is “amazing”. Enjoy the game. It will be dead by season 5.
Why do you know that?
Sounds like you need to exclusively play the Eternal servers, or maybe ARPGs are not for you.
I am quite fine with seasons. Starting over is fun (or would be, if the game was fun).
It is just the way Blizzard are doing them that is bad.
Seasons should be completely optional fresh starts.
ALL the content should exist in both season and eternal at the same time.
Let players pick the mode they prefer. Without trying to bribe them with “exclusive” content for choosing one of them.
If I had my way, the D4 team would have taken all these resources to develop and improve the base game. I would have loved to see game improve in drasticslly new ways…
Instead, all that energy is being put into throwaway mechanics laid over a base game that is in dire need of iteration.
Meh
That’s the problem when you use the season model in a trivial and easy game like this one. Everything looks the same, repetitive and boring. Everyone that knows this type of game knew this would happen.
Seasonal resets are the laziest and worst content model for your game.
Blizzard thinks it’s God’s gift to gaming and shoves it into all their games, though.
then play seasonal??
if this was world of diablo, a mmorpg, we could skip seasons. before then thou…
I agree. I think this game have so much more potential to do something different from the usual diablo series. Add more content: new areas to explore with new enemies and better loot to chase. I wish we can just keep our 100s and just get stronger with more content instead of the same seasonal. This reminds me of Destiny 2.
Lucky for you that you can have it your way! The Eternal Realm has no seasons, ever! Create a character there and you’ll be happy as a clam.
You don’t like throwaway characters?
sooner than that! they moved out the gauntlet and Last Epoch comes out very soon, D4 is in a coffin at this point
