Necro player lvl 47 here.
I am having really hard time doing just normal endcontent stuff against same level mobs.
I have an easy Bone Spear, Corpse Explosion with Iron Maiden, Bone Golem, Reaper Skeletons, Build. I have used all skills to upgrade my over damage as well.
I have all legendary items, most of them give +1 or +2 to corpse or bone skills.
I am still struggling.
Re-rolling stats on legendaries is just insane. I can not afford that.
And rerolling more than once costs 100k gold. I barely have 300k in total.
What am I doing wrong? I really need some help. I am starting to want to start with a new char and not play endcontent if its so difficult.
And please, you can not say I have to have perfect gear first to do it. That should not be the case. I just want to do those World Tree things and some random dungeons.

That build sounds horrible! I can’t imagine what synergy you see in there. Keep Bone spear, drop corpse explosion, grap tendril and for love of god… get rid of minions. Also Bone Prison > Iron Maiden. Bone Spear is easy (and also our best build along with Spirit) but you still gotta know what you are doing and as all builds it’s gear dependent (not just aspects, right down to the stats)
Lv 64 Necro in WT 4 (since Lv 60)
Regarding “knowing what you are doing” if you are burning your essence to the ground, you are screwed. You will be playing with essence almost capped and burning under 70% only if: You have waaaay more than 150 essence / you know you can finish fight right there and you don’t need to pick another pack right away.
BS has great synergy with Aspect that gives your next core skill bonus damage after using Basic skill (with ideal roll capping after 3 basic attacks), it will kinda help you with right tempo (until you have Bone specific paragon and grab some extra essence sources)

What tier are you?
[20 f’ing characters, wtf]
Lol imagine having a necro in your game but pets aren’t a viable build.

Necro is amazing dark themed caster, screw minion idle play, do your own killing.

It’s hard to offer advice without a good look at your gear, most builds are viable but sometimes you just need to find that better piece of gear with a a bit of luck to make a night and day difference.
In all honesty I would keep at it, because I find you hit flat spots. Then luck goes your way and things start falling over.

The gold issue can easily be resolved by selling loot you find to a merchant.

Are you on WT3? Because that would explain a lot.
Lv58 Necro here. Summon Skeleton (Reaper Skeleton w/ Flesh Carving and Shadow Mages w/ Stun) , Blight, Army of the Dead, Golem (Blood w/ Dmg Reduction), Bone Splinters, and Corpse Explosion (from left to right on my hotbar). With the talents/gear I’ve picked up, I’m easily able to flood the area with massive AoE that melts everything around me. During boss fights, the Blood golem is usually able to tank while I pile up Corpse Explosion AoE. I’ve been able to solo every boss easily. Usually my deaths are due to Elite mobs pulling some random combo that makes me laugh by getting caught on it. Got Butcher to 10% while solo… I’ll get him next time >:)
Most important thing… like Darke posted earlier… a build needs synergy

This, I did it for like an hour and have more than enough now.

Ya I think minions are just too weak if you not building a shadowblight build and even then your a super glass cannon if something hits you.
No minon blood build or bone build seems the way right now.
At least that’s my experience on hardcore to risky playing with minions.
You must be joking.
Why would I be on WT3 and complain about difficulty?
No I am on WT1.
If as soon as you finish the Story the game becomes a Min/Max Tryhard scenario then something is wrong. I dont think my skills are that bad. Sure there are builds with better synergy but why should this mean any other build than the min/max one is garbage!?
Thats bad game design then or something else is wrong.
My minions die often and its not really cool to have that even on WT1. The easiest difficulty.
I will try to change my build a bit an what some here recommended. sigh
Uh all I said was selling loot to a merchant gives you lots of gold…
I’m sure if folks saw my build, there would be people left and right telling me to get X instead of Y to improve my damage. I know my build is not the best but I’ve picked skills that work for me and I’ve been pushing through with no issues because of it. I never looked at min/max builds. I’ve just moved my points around when I thought a skill didn’t do enough. Looking at the build you listed, I think the problem is that you’ve spread yourself too thin by going in 3 directions (Bone, Dark, and Curse). But this also comes down to not knowing your talents 100%.
Yeah and you dont get yourself how useless and unintelligent that comment here is?
Anyway back to my issue. I change to that " Bone Spear Necromancer Endgame Build"
with tendrils. Damn this build does not seem feasable untill you already have the perfect gear for it.
I will test it more and try to figure out the mechanics but so far its working worse than before.

(Ignore the play, I am super tired and about to go to sleep), just showing it works really well if you simplify it. 0 Uniques, every aspect can be obtained from dungeon.

Thanks for the video. I will try. Have a good sleep!
Just want to add to others. If you have super gear every build is OP.
Question is what build can pull it off if you still noob and beginning with endcontent.
And my question would be, why they made the game this way that you already need super gear as soon as you finish the story. D3 you could still do fine with yellow and unoptimized gear.

Have you tried some generic aspects that increase damage from core skills?

So in terms of needing “epic gear” to play content after finishing the story… most of my gear is in the 550-650 level range because they’re mostly decent stats… sadly I have had some bad luck with a replacement amulet so I’m still using a 387 item level one lol. Having my build focus on darkness dmg, I just need an item to have 2 of the following to be viable for me… any extra stats is just… extra: Dmg %, Darkness Dmg %, Dmg vs Slowed, Dmg vs Shadow DoT’ed, DoT Dmg %. I’m not overly focused on survival stats since I run between my skeletons and let them die in my name
Going back to your build you showed earlier. While I’m just focusing my gear bonus on darkness damage, you’d be splitting yours to make Bone/Darkness/Curse all viable and end up making each one not hit as hard.
Also, feel free to tell me off. I’m enjoying the necro and want to help others
I won’t take offense if you say I’m posting too much here
Don’t forget that you can turn yellow gear into legendary by adding an aspect to it! It’s allowed me to gear up.
Also keep in mind that the aspects you unlock via dungeons are the weakest rolls and most expensive. Keep an eye on which legendaries you are tossing away in case it has an aspect you’d like to save via the occulist.
