All: please post your ATTACK POWER, and Pit level you can reach solo

Everything on these boards is so confusing. We all have to go back to what blizzard says. They say ATTACK POWER is the closest thing to a damage gauge.

My attack power is 67874, and I can go to around Pit level 60 at best.

You can look through https ://helltides. com/pit and filter for barbarian.

I’ve never pay attention to Attack Power. When I want to understand if something I added to my character (a new aspect, or weapon or whatever) does more damage then I go hit something and if said thing dies quicker then before then damage has increased. Hopefully you can figure out a good way to gauge your damage prowess

My barb is ww earthquake cleared pit 90 yesterday with 2 min left. Most of the time was spent killing boss.
I wouldn’t worry to much about attack power.
My sb 15k AP and he can clear a pit 130.
What build you playing , master work and glyphs lvl ?
Keep in mind that reason most barb have over 60k AP is because they using heir of perdition.
If I used the ugly bastard helm , recommended in most we builds , my AP goes down to around 34k.

How can you say don’t worry about attack power, when this is what blizz says to rely on (they put it on the top stats panel)?

What’s a “we build”?

Quite easily. “Don’t worry about it” heh heh.
My attack power is 22726 and I’m clearing Pit 67 comfortably. I don’t have min/max gear, still got non-ancient gear and most masterwork is sitting at either 4 or 8 ranks and some of my affixes on the weapon(s) are the wrong kind for my build… still waiting for some drops there.

If you think attack power is a good measure and it works for you, have at it. I find it to be useless as measure of how much dps you can do. If it matters… my build is a Bash barb.

This doesn’t make any sense–blizzard clearly states in the tooltip for attack power is an “evaluation of the damage that you deal.” If you can’t trust that, what can you trust? I have triple ap that you do, and I can only clear maybe 60.

Well, to be fair that 22726 number was me standing in a town. If I go and actually fight and click all the buttons and do all the things we do in active combat then my AP was 158,000 but again I don’t relay on that number at all, I just go by feeling, if the combat feels faster (after a change) then damage went up.

Attack power is a very poor metric of your actual damage. It can be boosted by alot of sources of additive damage but does not reflect alot of sources of multiplicative damage. That said its a very superficial metric of your potential damage and best to ignore. Pay attention to the damage splash when attack monsters to see your actual damage.

Some one my friends where bragging about their attack power when they first started saying they had as high as 100k attack power, their actual damage numbers where in the hundreds of thousands to low millions. Meanwhile I had ~20k attack power and was dealing hundreds of millions of damage.

Exactly, resting stat.

“Attack power is a very poor metric of your actual damage”
It’s the only one. There has to be a base, or no one can communicate effectively!

Attack Power 11917, Pit 150 5 minutes.

I don’t think attack power relevant to pick level unlock

I played with a player who somehow exploited to get ancients up all the time. This shows that D4 is not secure.

Your mistake was assuming they know what they are talking about.

Your attack power entirely neglects to include things like aspect interactions with one another and any nuances related to them.

You could have an aspect that give 100000000% times crit damage every 3rd time you use a potion and you equip and unequip that aspect and your attack power won’t change at all.

You could have 5000atk power on a spiritborn and 20000atk power on a rogue and the spiritborn will still outpace the rogue simply because atk power is based on raw numbers and stats only.

No, I have nan SB who can’t keep up with rogues nor sorcs. I can’t identify any reason why damage is so low–other than their is an invisible “I win” that some get and others don’t.

Attack power is a basic number that SHOULDN’T include things like aspects. It’s the base.

You are very clearly doing something wrong then I’m afraid.

Incorrect. attack power is a meaningless number. You could have 10 times my attack number and I will still deal 1000x your damage. It doesn’t even work as a base value.

My attack power is about 17k and I can onshot everything in Pit 60 including the boss. I can comfortably clear pit 105. I haven’t even tried pushing yet. This is still with non-ancestral gloves and pants and no maxed aspects. Glyphs at about 65ish.

You are doing something wrong. I am running my own version of crushing hands.

Blizzard says attack power is the BEST measure of the strength to attack.

There is even an in-game tip during loading screen that tells you attack power doesn’t take situational damage like vulnerable into consideration and it’s merely a rough estimation of your character’s power.

Blizzard is wrong.

i have 140k+ attack power and with inner calm when static 191+k, still i cannot pass pit lvl 90 (i don’t die but run out of time due to ineffective damage). I use double-swing with a mix of rupture/earthquakes/dust-devils/ground stomp and shouts. So unfortunately I have to agree that AtPow is not the metric to consider as a winner, other aspects matter in the character build.
PS. whatever you do to your poor barb, Spiritborns will laugh at you, its a honey moon period for them, we are the drama queens now…
