*Problem identified I think. Why is this game using so much VRAM?!! High rez pack uninstalled only lowered max usage by 2GB. Even on low settings my VRAM usage is over 12GB. It’s not like I have some crazy rare setup.
This game maxes out my 3080ti @ 4k @120FPS. I can use DLSS to lower temps and usage but I truly feel like there is something wrong here. This game should not be using that much GPU power IMO. I don’t know enough to have an educated opinion though. Is the high rez pack so detailed that’s just how it is?
I think the rubber banding I’m feeling is the game using memory wrong somewhere. The stuttering was present even when I alt tabbed and had the game in the background. I can see the game itself without me moving have a stutter. It seems to get worse the longer I play. The game also takes 5 seconds to close out which seems odd.
My PC is fine. Fresh install, fully updated, every game works great, 3d mark scores are better then they’ve every been, mem test works.
I don’t know what the deal is. Maybe only people with 100+ FPS/hz are seeing this issue? I have a huge case, my temps are all normal. Still …for some reason it feels like this game is working my PC way too hard. The problem gets worse the longer the game runs.
I hope someone at Blizz is looking into this. Any other 3080ti users with a similar setup seeing the same results? I’m hitting my target FPS no problem but there seems to be an issue with usage.
*I don’t recall dealing with this issue in beta. It was very smooth.
Win 11 fresh install. Every driver updated, triple checked.

yeah, I have similar specs and I need to run high graphic settings with DLSS to not fry my legs next to/on top of my PC lmao

Well, you can raise cap to 150 FPS and see if it manages to go there.
If it does not, then 100% for 120 FPS at 4k is exactly your maximum.
There is a known memory leak somewhere though, so probably it as well.
I can’t even see my GPU usage while playing D4 on my 3060ti. When I open task manager it doesn’t show for some reason
Hey bud. I’m pretty sure it can go above 120 FPS no problem. The main issue is the stuttering. I think you’re right about the memory leak. That’s what it feels like. It’s been years but I remember dealing with games that had that issue.

I just checked the game’s performance on my backup PC, which has a 3080ti and specs seemingly comparable to yours. I had zero problems even during periods of extreme screen congestion. You sure your GPU isn’t just on its way out? Could also be a driver issue. Make sure you’re using the latest Nvidia driver. They did put one out specifically for D4 a while back.
I’m more surprised you’re getting 120 FPS without DLSS. I got an RTX 4080 for this game and with frame generation, albeit with worse components otherwise, I can dip under 140. I do also use DLAA however which may or may not correspond to DLSS 2…
The stuttering doesn’t show until after I’ve played the game for 10-15 minutes, opened up menus n such. GPU seems solid. It’s a FE 3080ti. Temps on board are good. Gonna download EVGA precision to check further later today.
*If I log in right now, everything is smooth. Go do some nightmares, open world, come back to town…bam…game runs like crap and I have to restart.

“the longer the game runs” is pretty typical of memory leaks, so if GPU/CPU temps are all good, that’s the likely culprit indeed.
Edit : well you just said temp are good, so that leaves the memory leak

I get 100-120 with DLSS off. I just leave it on quality since I don’t see any loss in graphics.
This seems like a pretty reasonable conclusion. If everything else checks out, it pretty much has to be the game. Curious that it isn’t behaving this way for more people. Memory leaks caused by such a widely used application normally catch a fair bit of attention.
I’m gonna verify vram temps with evga precision later. It’s a FE 3080ti so it has the good heat sink from NVIDIA on it.
Sounds like something is wrong. You can also use MSI Afterburner for graphs of everything but I’m not sure you can view those over a period of time.
As far as cooling goes these should be the worst.

13700K, 64GB DDR5, 4080 FE
Stock speeds, no OC’ing, fans barely humming.
Max graphics, DLSS on, solid 161 FPS in game
Last I read the FE coolers were the best. It runs cooler than my EVGA cards ever did. That’s whatevs though. I’m gonna run EVGA precision later and look at VRAM temps while playing.
*It ran great during the beta.

The Nvidia stock stuff comes at the lowest price and it’s usually what aftermarket manufacturers or whatever they’re called beef up. From my recollection of GPU reviews in general, albeit from further back, the Nvidia founders edition usually runs the hottest. By the way, this game maxes out the VRAM on my 4080.
You are right, I think that changed with the 3000 series or whenever they started using the new design. Gonna see what I can do. Wish me luck.
**Just saw your edit…its maxing out your vram? Okay…let me double check a couple things while playing. I thought my VRAM usage was fine last night…but it was 3am.
Maxes out VRAM for a friend too then game crashes. Takes about 30-45m.
They fixed it during beta, but I guess it did not for everyone.
16 GB on the card itself, I think like 13 is the floor but I think I’ve seen it maxed out. I can look now again.
100% GPU usage and 13 GB VRAM on the character screen. Yea, VRAM maxes out in-game and 100% GPU usage but my experience is mostly free of problems. Highest settings, 9900k CPU and 16 GB of like 3600mhz RAM.
Not in recent years no. Ever since the 3000 series the FE cards have become standard for build quality.
