2.2.0 Campfire Chat Feedback (Luke warm reception)

Good changes:

  1. Rares are relevant again, even if it is just a place holder for the GA Legendaries.
  2. More Uber Bosses.
  3. Gor’s changes
  4. Boss powers kind of cool
  5. New Minion Necro unique (kind of weird choice to make Zir sword minion instead of blood)
  6. Boss Keys stacking to 99
  7. Teleport directly to Uber boss dungeon

Unsure if I like or dislike:

  1. WW nerfs and buffs. If it makes WW stronger then its good. If you dont want WW to add earthquake to its damage, make another Unique that pushes WW in a certain direction. More testing needed but I am assuming this season is going back to WW Bleed barbs.
  2. New Necromancer Aspect of Service and Sacrifice. Is this supposed to replace Aspect of Grasping Veins or Frenzied Dead? Its icon is red so I’m assuming it’s an offensive aspect. Better question is will this even be worth it. So far there seem to be room for 4 aspects in the minion build and they all have to be outstanding to make it in. I don’t know if increasing just mage damage is worth giving up minion attack speed. Downside to this aspect also makes you keep spamming the summon skeleton button. That is unless you nerf your damage output to put on the unique ring that attempts to auto summon skeletons every 1 second if there is a corpse. More testing is needed.

Bad Changes/Did not implement:

  1. Nerfing damage for WW barbs indirectly by nerfing everything the current build is built on.
  2. No new WW Barb uniques. Give us a ring, 1h sword, pair of 1h swords, or pants.
  3. New Minion Necro Unique is 2H sword instead of Scythe/Shield or 2H Scythe. The Sword of Zir the vampire should be a unique for Blood Necromancer’s. The base game had the origin of Necromancers killed and you can’t bother to come up with a name for a Scythe and Shield combo for minions? The class fantasy is weird on this unique.
  4. Still nothing fun to keep players engaged with the game like unlockable cosmetics. You still them all in the shop and there is nothing worthwhile in the game worth farming.
  5. Same season formula, different theme. There is no imagination going into season anymore. You add 2 uber bosses, change some names, change power effects, and call it good on a season? Purpletides back to Greentides.
  6. No Cow Level yet. No Secret level realms in general.
  7. Lair Keys now only open chests instead of summon boss. Depending how abundant these keys are will probably determine how bad this change is. Does this make it fair loot wise? Sure. No key no loot. Does this kill Uber Boss groups? Yes. Why carry or attempt to carry anyone in an Uber boss unless you give a group a buff to loot drop quality. Increased GAs on uniques and mythics or increased mythic drop chance. Something.
  8. Stygian Stones why? Just get rid of them.
  9. Belial has no unique loot to strive to kill him. Give him some unique gear or a high chance to drop a Mythic Unique. Something.

I said luke warm reception, but I think the scale has tipped into bad.

they are giving them back 3 base affixes making them good for early game and torment 1 bases for legendary aspects to be applied. This is before you get any GA Legendary drops in T1.

The reduced chance for Unique items to be Ancestral is a big L i think.

When did they say that?

I dont remember hearing them say they would reduce the chance for Unique items to Ancestral. Do you have a time stamp on the Campfire?

You didn’t read the rest of the section, fwiw:

  • When playing in a party, Lair Bosses have a 33% chance per additional party member to drop an extra Unique Item from their unique pool.

Despite this party buff, I still think overall this and the other changes to boss loot drops will result in less multi-GA uniques.

oh i read the section and I still dont think receiving a chance at 1 total extra unique is going to incentivize group play. Now if they said that each group member increases the amount of uniques dropped from the boss by 1, that would do it.

  • Unique Items:
    • Removed the bonus Ancestral rate from Unique Items. Unique Items now have the same ancestral rate as Legendary Items.

for better chances at ancestral uniques, we’ll have to fight Belial now.

rares are relevant again

oh great, so now u have to pick up literally every piece of trash u find to inspect it.

they really don’t understand what tedium and burnout is.

even still, if rares cant roll GA’d mods they’re still worthless to even pick up because they’ve sped the game up 800% – even during the leveling process. gear stats don’t matter when leveling, and those 3 stat rares are now taking up your aspect power drops (which do matter).

Idk, it’s like they don’t have a single person on their staff who has played this game.

Yeah that is an L, but its probably going to be easier than ever to get boss summon mats in season 8. Just kill the right Uber boss 10-20 times and an Ancestral version is bound to drop.

for leveling to 60 yeah.

you cant even get GA’s until you hit T1 this changes probably very little except you wont have as many legendary drops.

no they dont. aspects were a luxury. they never should have rained down as much as they did in the 1-60 leveling process. This is a W to leveling. Why should a player go from zero to hero at level 15?

This isn’t directed at you. Just something that’s common: players - “I want a lot of loot for the dopamine hit! Also, I don’t want to pick it up or evaluate it”

Yeah, just the line of logic doesn’t make sense for giving rares 3 stat lines with how they’ve changed the leveling process.

It’s just a “change for the sake of changing something”.

There’s no point in the current iteration of D4 where you would want a 3 stat rare to drop instead of a legendary.

Maybe between levels 1 and 8?

uuuuhhhhhh…you realize that rares are more common than legendary items right? With this change that means that Rares are essentially potential legendary items without the aspect that makes legendary items legendary.

This means that if you have a reduced legendary item drop rate and the legendary item that drops has crap stats but the aspect you want, you can copy the aspect in the codex and put it on a rare item that drops with the right stat rolls now. Before you would do this as a short term stop gap in your build while leveling. This is no longer the case.

It currently takes 3 hours to go from 1-60, and the gear doesn’t matter on the way up.

You literally just stand afk at the seasonal event and leech xp while gaining 3 levels per minute.

You’re talking about vanilla D4 on release.

Because it does nothing for the current iteration of the game.

it does nothing for the endgame. it does a lot for the early game as they are also slowing up the leveling process.

They will never slow the leveling process to the point where rares matter again.

The game has gone full arcade arpg.

The people still playing love the faster leveling, this forum is a bad sample of the playerbase.

Reddit is a much better sample and those guys have been celebrating the faster leveling like no tomorrow.

I don’t think they’re trying to incentivize group play, but rather they’re trying not to disincentivize those that want to do it in a group.

never say never. we will have to see how much it slowed down. if it is just a little bit then yeah it doesnt matter either way. if they slowed up the early leveling a lot, then yes it does matter. either way it is either a neutral or positive outcome.

They may not have tried to kill group play on uber bosses but with that measly buff to maybe getting 1 extra unique, I don’t think the juice is worth the squeeze now unless you get instant groups formed and they are all waiting for the boss.
