Would YOU buy the successor of Diablo 3 if it will be an MMO?

LoL is not an MMO. Yes, it’s massive (as in its following), and multiplayer (5v5), but it doesn’t fit the description.

We are talking more about a game that could be like World of Warcraft, or Star Wars: The Old Republic etc…

Not necessarily that format, but an open world with people running around you can see doing stuff, just like you would be doing.

Also, LoL has to have one of the absolute worst communities I’ve ever encountered in any game. There are a lot of vile people there.

Nothing to that extent to worry about here

Laid out like WoW with territories held by a couple different factions, even if neph and demons were the only two factions. Add contested areas for world PVP. Open trading and make more good items available through NPC’s. Expand crafting so that it’s not an RNG fest, but a focused levelable method of self equipping that requires a butt load of grinding to get materials for item crafting, all of which are earned by killing monsters. (No mining, weed picking, disenchanting items, fishing, or other forms of gathering.) Open world encounters with Prime Evils that reanimated after Malthials fall. If you find a Prime Evil when soloing, it’s either time to run, or form a quick group through chat to take him/her on.

No sub, but reasonably priced cosmetic MTX to make sub unnecessary. No pay to win mechanics. Dungeons and raid completion not necessary to progress into end game content.

I’d buy and play a Diablo MMO with all the above.

Yes, I would play it. I would hope it is M+ rated, dark, gritty, and gory. I would hope it doesn’t require groups larger than 3 people to complete any/all content.

If no microtransactions or monthly fees or some similar sh1t than sure. It was easy enough for me to stop playing Call of Duty because of their greed.

Kind of like the only remotely efficient way to gain power in d3 is to do 4 man GR in mltiplayer right now? I’m currently #20 in nahc for s18 in paragon, so I could probably gamble up gear and push leaderboards for a day or 2 in every class to be in the top 10…but I think that’s lame AF. Here’s to hoping that in d4 they’ll make different decisions regarding things like that…

I know that originally Blizz North was working on D3 to make it an MMO. That is according to what some of the founders of Blizz North said. I know that if D3 was made by Blizz North then I probably would’ve bought it even though it would’ve been an MMO.

So the next in line Diablo 4 or whatever they call it. If it is an MMO and if it is done right then I probably will buy it. I have nothing against MMOs. I have played them in the past and still play some now. I am currently playing Star Trek Online. That is because of the new information on the ongoing support of this game. Till I know what class and what build that I will want to be my speed farmer for bounties and keys I will be primarily be playing Star Trek Online.

Full on MMO, MMO elements, pay to play… all things I will not waste my money on.

I think the answer to that is a bit more complex than simply “yes” or “no”, in that I would not consider an MMO to be a successor to Diablo (1, 2 or 3).
However, I would not mind playing an MMO set in the world of Diablo - provided it was as grim and dark as D1 and D2.
But any true successor to Diablo would have to be an ARPG at least similar to what we have seen in D1 to D3.

Yes, unfortunately that is so true. A single player can’t possible compete with a multiplayer one. Look on youtube at trepchain player, she has like 60000 mats and re-rolls primal gear & optimal ancient gear like a breeze. No, us single player can’t have that much mats ever… Not to mention about the multiplayer XP. But I am used to be punished by Blizz as a single player, they want to force us as much as possible to go MP which is sad.

Nope you could count me out.

I honestly wouldn’t buy a mmo Diablo, I don’t even like the WoW game. Changing diablo to something or anything like that would be a hard pass for me. The only reason I bought D3 is because i played D2 and that game is very good. But anyway… no, just no.

Marvel Heroes online was a game that was both an MMO and an ARPG. So if it is done right D4 could very well be a good game. Where it could be both and MMO and an ARPG as well.

No. MMO’s are stupid and if they ruin my favorite game I will never buy an activision/blizzard product again.

PoE is considered an MMO by many, and there is not a single thing in that game that you need to group for.

If D4 went a few steps above and added in reputations, larger player hubs, player choice with housing/town construction, etc… The game would be dope!

I agree, I would prefer for the next installment to not be a cookie cutter of WoW in the Diablo world. But I am also not going to lie to myself, as stated above, I have no issues with MMO style games overall, and would absolutely play a Diablo MMO because of my love for the lore.

If we are lucky, they create an MMO AND D4! Tie the MMO into the same subscription patter as WoW, so you can play either for the $15 a month. I feel that would pull in a lot of subscribers, and you still have the full fledged sequel to the Diablo series as well.

After all, it is rumored there are still “multiple” unannounced Diablo projects in the works.

But this last tidbit is too much hype train, I am only expecting a single announcement.

Just an fyi, if it is viewed that your son has issues with “idiots” it is most likely that your son does not understand how to function as a team player and work within the confines and abilities of those around him.

Team players never have an issue with even the most toxic group of randoms. Takes skill though, so in time I am sure he will get better. Obviously if you want more team control, STOP GROUPING WITH RANDOMS and practice with a team composed of players you know, etc…

Oh, and just for the record, LoL is NOT and MMO.

I don’t know too many who described PoE to be a MMO, but first and foremost it’s an arpg, perhaps a reason to why you don’t need to essentially group up for anything. Most full blown mmos aren’t like that, there are content where you do need to group up, that’s something I would want to avoid.

Personally, I can do without player hubs, instead I’d prefer Diablo 4 went Diablo 2 route whereas players can make named rooms with or without passwords that are visible so other players can choose to join them if their interests align.

There’s no guaranteed that those projects are games.

You changed your whole post after it didn’t go the way you wanted.
You even changed the title.
Isn’t this breaking the code of conduct somewhat?

Your post first said “if it contained some MMO elements”.
Then your title changed to “would you buy the … if it will be an mmo”.

Well, my theory was that the next diablo HAS to be an MMO… why? Look at the warcraft side. You had warcraft 1 and 2, amazing games. The you had 3 with mixed reviews. Some liked it some didn’t. The only reason wc3 was popular was the dota mod… which wasn’t even blizzard… but after you an MMO.

So now we look at diablo. 1 and 2 were amazing. 3 got mixed reviews. The only logical progression is MMO…

And to anyone saying “yeah but mmo generally isnt arpg” yell well rts isnt an mmo either now is it?

and yes, if world of diablo comes, I would play it. HOWEVER, if its a diablo skin over top the world of warcraft mmo back end, no thanks. ive played wow and its old and boring. sure i come back and play for a few months then quit again, but if diablo is using their engine and its just a diablo face paint, it will fail. elder scrolls online is a typical mmo with an elder scrolls coat of paint, so it sucks. if diablo is world of warcraft with a coat of diablo paint on top it will suck…

Yeah, and it sucks.

It’s their only cash cow and they have to keep sucking up to the idiots who want this and want that implemented because they can’t afford to lose paying customers.

And it’s not even an original game, they copied/pasted the worst of D2.

Saying D3 got mixed reviews means nothing!
I don’t go by some news about D3 is good or D3 is bad.

There are most likely over 1,000,000 people playing D3 at any season start, worldwide.

The reason there is any thoughts on D4 is because of the predecessors were not just amazing but outstanding.

The only logical mode for D4 is ARPG with elements of other types of games.
