Would this be a solution to the small stash space problem?

How many people have come to this forum to complain about stash when they did not even have the 13 unlocked? Throwing money at something does not always fix the problem. Blizzard is going to make a killing off of D:I, but we will not get more stash in D3, or will we?

And you buy that statement coming from a company worth $70 billion?

How many years have they stated D2 was unremasterable?

Why are you arguing? There is literally no reason to oppose the idea. “It’s never happening” is not good enough.

I would likely say that the chances are slim and none, emphasis on none. More so if a lot of money would be needed to pull it off.

How many? That was Brevik and what has he done lately “It lurks below.”

I am not. They have said no already so ask all you want, have fun with that if it makes you happy.

Whats the value of the company got to do with it
and considering we were actually there when they tried it we have a better idea of whats going on over your I want and throwing a tantrum because you aren’t getting your way

Also D3 is an old game and are working on Diablo Immortal and D4 and personally I would rather they worked on D4 and released it instead of worrying over an old game that is being played while waiting for D4

Bingo end of story, I am done with this one. :metal:

Kilometer are you getting excited about all of the news for D:I, are you going to stick around after it launches?
If not I will see you on the D4 forum if we get one, assuming they do not move over to reddit for D:I and D4.

A lot of players like to keep 1 of each build. If you have been playing for 9 years as I have and have many, many decent to well rolled ancients, it not easy to re-find those, even with loot raining from the sky.

Using character slots for storage is terrible game design. Characters are for playing, storage should be for storage. Another issue is some people play sc/hc cutting that value in half.

Actually, they said they wanted to increase the stash space, but because the game is designed poorly, they can’t. There have been several proposed workarounds that would give us more stash space without taxing the system or being incredibly difficult to implement. If they can/want to do it great. If not, no harm in asking. Players have been asking to fix the GR maps for like 7 years now and they finally got around to doing it.

I will stick around as long as I still participate in D3 season but my post activity at D3 forum will definitely lower than usual.

I am not saying that D3 should sell storage now. I just saying that selling storage size is something they should consider in their future game as many players will have no issue about buying storage size for their favorite game.

What if we can stack a set?
You cannot stack same piece, and you’ll need a space in your inventory when unstacking the set to put it on or replace a piece.
It’ll save stash space and work better to manage each set imo.

What I gathered in an overly summarised description, is that in group play or public, it became a dog in lag and other issues.

I cannot remember who suggested it, but it made sense to me the idea if the game is smart enough to detect group play versus solo play, that the unlimited stash space is only available in solo and the player had to select the thirteen stash spaces for group play.
The suggestion indicated that by clicking/highlighting/checkbox (whatever) for group play, the rest were completely disabled in group play and could only be accessed and changed by completely leaving group play and going solo again.
It changed nothing other than accessibility and removed group lag from excess stash space.
I thought that was an intelligent solution at the time.

The visual stash space is not the problem. It’s the code behind the visual representation that takes up space in the game when we play. This limits the number of items we can have.

If you keep expanding the stash, people hoard more and more, leading to calls for more stash space; which leads to more hoarding.

Then the game explodes because the database can’t handle it.

Very true. Once one finds a godly item, one wants to keep that because with all the layers of RNG finding another can still be extremely difficult. Loot rain doesn’t change that.

It really is. Using characters as storage is not a solution, it’s a symptom of an actual issue. If one has to use characters as mules, there’s a definite shortage of storage space. Blaming that on hoarding is just ignoring the issue.

Even with infinite stash space mine would be full…

Destroy that junk inside yo trunk! I just keep A FEW beverages in my inventory mainly.

Holy shmoley!

I see the usual “We know what’s best for you!” mentality is afoot, complete with the token belittling of those who aren’t happy with the way things currently are.

While it’s true D3 will probably never change at this point, there are still a lot of lessons to be learned with how it handled itemization and the inventory code. Dictating multiple versions of the same item with the only difference being elemental damage is something that should not be repeated in D4. Them admitting the stash is constantly being saved in D3 instead of when any change is made to a player’s inventory reflects a gross mechanical inefficiency.

Overall, there’s no reason why an individual item should be taking more than a few bytes of data, with thousands being possible per character. Stuff like inventory tetris isn’t needed, but irksomely remains one of those “immersion” arguments that further complicates the management narrative since it ups data requirements and other checks as loot comes and goes.

More generally, I’m apt to argue we need to change how we acquire and improve our gear, which can address inventory concerns in its own way, but the blanket “What makes an ARPG!” tends to prevent such evolution when people cling too tightly to tradition.

In the end, though, people wanting more space in D3 aren’t wrong. Tying slots to seasons is still dumb. Knowing what build(s) you will or want to play in the future doesn’t really justify trashing good things just because you’re not using them in the moment. Finding neat things is supposed to be part of the charm, not destroying said neat things while justifying it with pop culture inspired brainwashing.

It’s not. It’s actually detrimental. Instead of concentrating on items that are useful developers are pouring more and more useless crap into their games and players just leave it on the ground or fill their stash with it. Same thing for items that have six absurdly variable stats. It causes performance degradation without actually expanding the range of usable items.

I still don’t know why you have an entire 70 slots filled with Leoric’s Shinbones.
