Would this be a solution to the small stash space problem?

I think more stash space would make the game more fun. A lot more stash space.

If it’s true that there are technical limitations to this - the game lagging from having too many items in the stash - then would a solution be to implement some kind of mail system, similar to when items are mailed to you after the season ends?

You could use the mail mechanism but with a different user interface, such as having a Master Stash (not a mail inbox), that you manage in a stash manager. The current stash as we know it remains the same size so as to not lag the game, and items can be moved to and from the larger Master Stash.

This has been covered several times before, less hoarding seems to work for many players. Constantly beating a dead horse will not bring it back to life. After many of us have moved on to D4 some people will still be asking for more stash in D3. I always have unused stash it does not make the game more fun.

I do believe that players are keeping way too many items. Now I understand that hardcore you will want to keep items that you know that will help you quickly get back to where you were before. But even then I think that if done right the stash space we have now will be fine.

The questions to the OP are the following. 1.) Have you unlocked all stash space by completing Conqueror during a season. 2.) Check to see what you are keeping and ask why are you keeping it. A lot of items are really easy to find with the way loot drops. I could understand it better if the legendaries didn’t fall out of the sky like rain.

One does not need to retain all set pieces for all classes with attendant legendary items. The set pieces, when updated, are retroactive and generally very easy to get especially with seasons and Haedrig’s gifts… so, really, only need to keep those you actually want to use and that’s most likely one or two sets, freeing up a significant amount by tossing 6-7 items per set * 7 classes * 3-4 (the actual sets.) This is even more rewarding if you opt to use LoD builds as set items can all go.

Legendary items are a little trickier as sometimes they do not update and you may not want to get the current version. Sometimes you do. So, keep those which are absolutely critical. If something is not legacy, it can be tossed as you will get another… especially if its not even required but “fun.”

Get rid of useless gems.

Get rid of multiple stacks of Ramaladni’s.

I admit, when I started, I kept everything because I did not know what I needed. It can be tempting but it is also pointless.

We all potentially have 13 stashes of storage space available, plus 17 characters to use as mules (with 13 equipped items each plus their inventory space), plus 17*3 = 51 followers who can each equip 12 or 13 items… I don’t think there is a ‘‘small stash space problem’’, but rather that some players have serious hoarding issues

Fixed it for you.

Ultimately the solution would seem to be to eliminate stash entirely. You can only keep equipped items.

Quit hoarding trash. There’s your solution.

I wonder if that is the way they are going in D4, they have never talked about stash. The inventory is now divided into different sections. What will the hoarders do if they are crying about 13 tabs in D3?

Why are you even arguing against something beneficial. It is complete nonsense to not ask for more space. Good for you if you don’t use it. For the rest of us, there are serious limitations that have no good solutions.

With the expanded leaderboards there is now a legitimate reason to keep at the minimum 6 builds per class, not counting all the items included in variants. That is a serious amount of space needed.

We need bigger tabs so that one build of 13 items can fit in one row of the tab. This would mean a 12x10 grid (7x10 currently), and it would allow for 5 builds per tab which sounds reasonable enough (though if it can be made 12x12 that would be perfect).

Regardless, more space is needed, point. I’ve had to trash many GG items in the past just because I would never really the build they compliment (too weak, or not used enough). This shouldn’t need to happen.

Considering the last time they increased the stash size to what it is now they actually lowered how many you could get because it just didn’t work, can’t remember why but basically the number of stash tabs you have now is the max the game can handle
and i believe you get 2 stash tabs with the necromancer if you don’t have the necromancer

Hoarding is a disease.

Because you are not going to get it, deal with it. How many times do we need to go over this.

The amount of stash space needed depends entirely upon the way one plays the game. Those who only play 1, 2 or 3 classes exclusively and ignore the rest feel like there is always plenty available. Some people, like myself, play every single class and usually more than one build of each.

Now I know the stash is at it’s max and have no delusions of it being increased any further. However telling people they are hoarders and have a problem is simply false and ridiculous. I play DH more than anything else so I have one entire tab just for DH sets. I have another half tab just for supporting legendaries for those sets. I have one tab dedicated to regular and legendary gems. I have one tab each for the remaining 6 classes (which to be fair is not nearly enough in some cases) 3 tabs are used to keep ancients which I use in LoD builds or as supporting items to the class sets.
That leaves me with 1 and a half tabs for various other novelty items and such (puzzle rings, bovine bardiche, collectors items that can never drop again, ever, etc.)

My point is, just because some of us use up every last inch of stash space doesn’t mean we are doing anything wrong or keeping useless things. Everyone plays the game in different ways and just because the stash is plenty big for some does not mean it is that way for everyone.

In other words management doesn’t want to spend money to fix it.

It costs you nothing to have a positive attitude about it. “The chance of it happening is really low, but it’d be cool if it could happen” is the perfect way to look at it. This defeatist mentality of “it’s never happening, ever” helps no one.

So what part of they tried to put more and had to lower how many they wanted to put in because of game limitations don’t you understand

They already said they will not increase the stash space, what part of that do you not comprehend? Some people would like another expansion, but we are not going to get it. So, asking for it over and over and over like a 9 year old wanting a new toy will not bring about the desired result.

Storage size is one of the many features in ARPG that people are willing to pay money to buy it.

I heard that there was even some hardcore D2R players bought new copy of D2R just to store their gears further.

Storage size is always an issue for the players who play all characters and want to optimize it or just to prepare for the future changes in case Item X became really good in future patch.

I do not think that money is the issue if so, I would gladly pay for a new expansion or DLC but it will not happen.

I just saying that increase stash size in arpg is something many people will pay for it.
