I was 24 when I purchased D2 and later LoD, so I remember it well. I have a greater fear of “buyers regret” than FOMO. I’m all for retaining the original experience, but I think holding back on QoL and other improvements that could modernize the experience is going to be the deal breaker. My 2 cents.
40USD? no thank you

I already have. D2 was the first videogame I worked for to get the money to buy it.
Nowadays money comes a lot easier and 40€ is pretty much nothing to me. Especially for a game I intend to play more than once. Way way more.
I have not played D2 in over 9 years, every time I install (I have a few times) it I just cannot go back to the old dated graphics. D2R on the other hand looks great. So I will most defiantly give it a try. I play solo and take my time I like to look at things instead of just running past everything. $40 is the same as a pizza and 6 pack.
$40 dollars is nothing.
For me it’s the resolution. 800x600 is just terrible on a widescreen. The graphics itself I can manage.
D2:R supports 1920 x 1080 officially and I heard them mention 4k during one of the QA’s.
I bought it, because in the words of Ed Bassmaster, “Just look at it.”
Ill definetely get it, but I wont preorder for the sole reason of what they did with WC3R.
I have faith in VV and I doubt they will mess it up like classics team did with Lemon Sky, but I think that preordering is something you should never do.
Better wait for a while and keep watching development/updates.
Its not like your digital purchase will be sold out like physical purchases were in the past.
Very seldom do I pre-order things, but I’ll get D2R once I can be sure they’re not going to Reforge it.
I’ll definitely get it if they just stick to what was shown: Update the graphics, a few small QoL things like stash tabs, and keep everything else as close to Diablo 2 as possible.
Multiple reasons:
- WC3R and Cyberpunk 2077 killed pre-order hype for me.
- It is the same game with a prettier graphic that has a similar price range with other new games or remake games out there. So, no rush and lack of urgency to get it.
- Going to use the $40 to buy any new game that I can play immediately instead of waiting until the end of the year.
- The pre-order bonus doesn’t seem attractive or exclusive enough to get it. It will be a different story if pre-order gives you 1 stash slot and 1 character slot for D3.
I like that yes please.
I’ll only buy D2R if it has
- pure offline mode = full mod support
(to keep singleplayer interesting)
and/or
- instanced loot
(to make multiplayer enjoyable)
I don’t mind how much the game will cost. I’m a big D2 fan, so I pay full price just to play it. If you are a big fan aswell, I don’t think you care how much the game will cost you, unless you are a pro D3 fan.
I was never a fan of D2. Simple as that.
Already did. I have been waiting for this for so long. I do hope they add more QoL things and end up doing a balance patch though.
I am still wondering, not sure I really have the time for the game honestly
I never preorder unless this gives at least some benefit - even if I know I’m going to play with a 99% certainty. Because… just WHY.
It’s not the money per se, but the more I think about it, it’s that I won’t enjoy it more than D3 and therefore will not play it and I certainly won’t play when D4 releases. I guess it not for me.
I have never played D2 and I am curious. That being said, the genre has evolved too much and I suspect that the game will be much less engaging and rewarding that what people want.
Yes, it supports up to 4K. Of course Switch and Xbox One and PS4 are not 4k (I don’t believe XOne and Ps4 are), but the Series X and PS5 are I believe.
The one question I have is 21:9 ultrawide support. I read it was coming for PC, then I read that they are looking into it and how to handle it with monster detection. I am really hoping they get ultrawide working. I know PC also may have uncapped framerate. D2 remade with 120 fps on ultrawide? Yes please!
