Seems that ugly weapon/armor designs at WoW has a long time history.
This game is supposed to be a remaster of D2LOD.
I played that game for years, I even played more than one version; the original and version 1.12 which I have on my computer now. I have a couple mods on it Plug Y and a glide wrapper (so no battle net for this version) and I feel I’ve done the best I can in terms playability and graphics. Truthfully I still like it more than D3.
I was so excited about this remaster I preordered it right away. Now my enthusiasm is waning, primarily because of the character models I’ve seen so far. None of them look right, and it’s not just the Amazon (although she is the worst) it’s all of them. Even the monsters are off.
So if you have any sway over the developers (and it appears you have some) tell them this: I want a game that looks like the original only better. I’d like to see some of the Horadric recipes return (for example: a perfect gem of each type plus an amulet equals an amulet with all resistances). I think the Inventory and Player screens should fill the whole screen not just be displayed on each side (perhaps this could be an option?) The magic effects and portals need attention too.
On the plus side the settings looks fantastic. From the dungeons to the marketplace EXCELLENT.
So if the developers could address these issues with character appearance and maybe give me some of this other stuff I would be much happier with my purchase. While I wouldn’t presume to know the minds of every D2 player, I think there a lot of people that would agree with me.

Original Assasin -> Ugly
Original Amazon, Mage -> Old
Original Necro and Druid -> Looking wild and old just as they should be.
Original Paladin -> Why the f is the paladin black?? A paladin is a european warrior. It’s like a white guy starring Nelson Mandela. As a white person I am offended by this. Paladin is supposed to be white or make that changeble. #notoracism

I don’t agree with with most but black guy as pala doesn’t seem to be befitting either in my point of view, but I don’t really care. As soon as you put a helmet on him he’s just a person in plate armor, skin colour is hardly visible.

Agreed. Those do look nice. Unfortunately, that’s not what we see in-game. (But, neither are the ones I posted. I only included them because they were from the same source as the ones you posted above).

Scantily clad characters have always been common in video games. (Always will be).

All the characters seem to have aged with the game…nice joke Blizz. I’m sure they understood they need to put the characters age back to what it originally was…
On the topic of Asian Assassin/Black Pally…I don’t really care. If we want to keep to our ‘world’ the Assassin should be middle eastern and Pally European. But this is the Diablo world and if the Pally can be black the Assassin can be Asian. Just make the in their 20’s-30’s not their 40’s-70’s…

Every single time we start at lvl 1 is the same time in the world. The story have a timeline. IF they want the amazon to look older, add a ACT 6 story line that is between D2LOD and D3.

Carnage, I posted something similar. I like new art with tough, hardened (but still noble & appealing) faces. Someone suggested an option to allow a player to choose between new or old character models on their system (without affecting others). That’s such a simple solution to this issue. D2R team: please consider that!

I want the Paladin to have the option to have that big 70s mustache like in the original concept art. I also hope the developers bring back the original maggots instead of the lame bugs that seem to have replaced them in the demo footage we saw at blizzcon.
Regardless of what was in the box art. Those are the original concepts.

This is awesome!!! Just perfect. Hope developers ARE aware of this. If devs don’t remake models in this image I hope at least I can play online with these models as mod. Those images deserve their own thread.
