Except I fully intend to help people as much as possible. I don’t want free for all loot for selfish reasons, but for what it brings to the table in terms of meaningful shared experiences. I don’t have the opportunity to be awesome to someone if the option doesn’t exist to be a complete dick.
Timed Allocation Loot does exactly the same.
You still need to survive to get gear in Timed Allocation system.
And it is indeed possible to leech gear in FFA.
That still exists. It is just determined by dice rolls instead.
Heck, there have been multiple FFA proponents complaining about how bad they would feel about losing an item roll in a Timed Allocation Loot system. It would hurt them. Just like in FFA.
That can happen in Timed Allocation loot too. You can be really lucky, and win every single item.
Yeah, nobody has ever been handed free loot in D2. Oh wait.
cuz grandpas grandmas are too old and dont like change cant adapt
Times allocation does address most of the concerns with PLoot but that one big glaring one is still taking away the barrier to entry by being able to glean loot you aren’t prepared to get yourself. And yes you can sneak the odd grab in FFA loot, but it is much less prominant then the leaching that would be widespread and devalue the items in Ploot setting
EDIT This will lead to strong people only ever allowing other strong people into their games and actually have the opposite effect your intending as less and less people would allow anyone not deemed powerful even into their games ever. It would also greatly slow down the pace of the game, having to annoyingly constantly roll for items in a game where you are showered in loot.
That is not the opposite of what I want tbh. I am strongly against leeching and getting carried.
If we ignore the whole FFA/PL topic for a short moment, I would love to see players take more of a stance against anyone trying to leech in their groups.
Yeah, I think it would be cool if more people play together, but that does not have to involve carriers and the carried/leechers playing together.
If more people split up into groups that are more appropriate for their current progression level, that would be a quite interesting development. Might even lead to better runs for many (since imo, it is both boring to carry others, but definitely also to be carried)
Maybe I am misunderstanding this, but you dont have to click “roll” when an item drops, it just happens automatically if you are within range.
That said, yeah, Timed Allocation can slow some players down; like item X drops, player 1 wins it, but do not want it/do not pick it up. Player 2 want it, but now has to wait for some seconds before the item turns FFA. That might slow down player 2, who will have to catch up with the group again (and even miss out on potential loot for a while).
I dont see that as a problem though. Both FFA and Time Allocation has their pro’s and con’s for players. That is what makes each of the viable to play. In FFA you need to learn how to get near the boss at the right time and click fast. In Timed Allocation you might need to make smart decisions on whether you want to wait on an allocated item to turn into FFA.
With both options available, people can pick the one they want. For people who solely want XP from the runs, FFA might definitely be the most efficient choice.
For this reason right here. Everything people don’t like or aren’t good at is “toxic.” it’s a bunch of bullcrap.
People see somebody else get something that they want, and they sit around sulking, crying, whining, and critizing the world instead of sucking it up and moving on.
OR… here’s a crazy idea… talking to the group and asking if you can have it. BUT, I guess that won’t work because everybody think they are entitled to every single thing they want.
And the ONLY thing people are complaining about really boils down to them not getting an item solely because it is a unique or set item. Doesn’t matter if it’s Vidala’s, Blastbark, Wizendraw, or the 50th green double axe to drop in the game or if it’s actually something good. They didn’t get it, so they cry.
Constantly whining about not getting anything, but somehow they have the gear to keep up?
I’ve yet to see anybody say exactly what in the heck it is that they are unable to loot? What dropped that you didn’t get 15 years ago that was so detrimental to your mental development that you cannot handle being in a game with other people on the chance that they may get what you want? What in the world left people that mentally crippled that they are throwing a tantrum because they saw gold/green text at Lister and the hammerdin got it?
People for this don’t even know what in the world is good loot. I’ve played in games with people talking about how it would be better, and the whole friggin time just observing the stuff they leave on the ground.
Want a funny example? Starting fresh with people and they are talking about not having any money. NONE. Meanwhile I’ve picked up 6 stacks of throwing knives (~450g each). I point them and gas potions out to these people, tell them to pick up scepters, wands, and staves. Do they? No, WHY? Because they just want the blues, yellows, and “good stuff.”
So, actually your ploot crap (depending on which of the 10 variations were talking about) just screws over people that know what they’re doing.
Maybe it would be good to have two game modes. Then all the whining little babies that never learned to share can go to their personal playpen and leave the rest of us alone.
This remains the #1 priority for changes in D2R.
Maybe someone could ask Rod about that one
wow… really? this is new to me, are you like this? cus it sure does seem like it. lol
I hate everything, especially what I hate.
But, a more real answer? You decide.
The truth is tangential.
lol, #dontshakethejello
Heck, I’m not even really that much against ploot. It’s just the way people are acting (on both sides of the discussion). It’s gotten pathetic and irritating.
I should probably stop being so fussy about it myself
because they are hateful people what did you expect? I mean didn’t you hear the one guy he’s like f all you handicapped people I don’t care at all, if you add a way that shares loot I’m getting a refund hahahaha. If you want my personal opinion the reason is because they are trump fans hahah. I almost guarantee you, if you got to know the people that say the crazy stuff about p loot they are all the same people who think trump is still president.
Me personally it doesn’t matter I’m not playing with any one on here haha, so p loot ffa is meaningless. The drama around it though is beyond hilarious, I wish some one did a reenactment of the nonsensical drama about p loot hahahahahaha. If I was the owner I would of put hints about it being p loot, just to f with them it would of been even more hilarious.
I think they should make it where if you click the gem in teh lobby 500 times it says “ploot enabled” LMAO
This are all good point I would add 3 more here:
6. In general you go for group play for exp and solo for MF. Ploot takes away decision: do I want higher lvl, or do I want better gear? Why should be there 1 “group play” mode to rule them all?
-
kind of dumbs game down - you dont need to know what to pick, you dont have to keep space in inventory.
-
It removes part of the excitement in scenarios like this: you killed champion pack you managed to grab unique ammy, other guy grabbed ethereal thresher, your ammy turns out to be Nokozan, meanwhile Bowa killed some random mob in the corner grab magic tiara and shows you artisan of speed tiara. This kind of things doesnt happen with ploot.
i agree, i hate everything equally lol
You used the word “toxic” you won’t ever understand.
Wait…so you mean…no…
Toxic people hate things are are resistant to change.
Oh. Seems to fit.
ploot is a handicap, if you cant click fast enough you should probably give up gaming. if you want ploot make a private game its as simple as that. theres a reason why d3 is trash they took away all aspects that made d2 great. Im not against QOLs most of which they have implemented are great
Serious looting is not made in random parties. It is made by running bosses/areas with a solo MF character, perhaps with a group of tight friends. Anyone who made it far has realized that. PLoot is useless. Party up with randoms for XP, solo or party up with friends for loot.
There is no hate against ploot, that is a perfect feature for games designed on it. Introducing it in a game designed to be ffa would require adjustments in the drop ratios, leading to an increase of those that would harm the game and break the current balance.
It is also a matter of preserving the game as it is and not changing it just because of the whim on a portion of the players, wich also seem to be the most unexperienced ones, at least for their comments written about the game overall in this forum.
Oh please, it would not 'become much bigger in resources". You could literally just add an array to the end of the code that already exists for the drop, and randomize the loot in the array between the players in the room. Done, easy. It doesn’t even add time to the big O notation because it’s a simple array.
