Why 5 days between seasons? Season objectives too hard

Why are there 5 days between seasons for Diablo 3? I have seriously been busting my a$$ this weekend to try to get the treasure goblin pet, thinking I would have several more days to achieve the rest of the objectives I needed, only to have the season end as I was playing. I have only played seasons in Diablo 4, and there is no delay between seasons.

The season objectives are also too hard. The amount of grind needed to get three legendary gems to 70 is insane. And having to get every single objective for every single chapter is overkill. Only a certain number are needed for Diablo 4 (usually 8 of 10), which makes it actually achievable.

I know this is D3, not D4. But d@mn!!! I won’t be playing D3 seasons again.

Sorry to hear you go. We’ll miss your insights into the game. Good luck with D4!

Because…

  • Seasons end on a Sunday at 17:00
  • Non-emergency patches are applied on Tuesdays
  • Seasons start on a Friday at 17:00

The reason for the gap is because there needs to be a patch applied to the servers so that the seasonal theme is available. As that happens on a Tuesday, and they want people to have as much free time at the start of the season, it starts on a Friday so they have the full weekend.

FYI, once you can do echoing nightmares, having Whispers of Atonement will count towards the three as well. So if you get lucky with gearing and drops in GRs, it may well require a lot less grind. And then you have augments for the augment item of the season journey. If you can score a Flavor of Time somehow, Condy and Power will carry you a long way.

The Boss Mode seasonal conquest (All bosses bar Vidian in under 20 minutes) will also net you all the beat-the-bosses parts of the season journey if you do at a high enough Torment level (I think none of the bosses are higher than T13). And that includes even if you fail the conquest.

If you can do the first four levels of the season journey, you’ll have a full set for a particular class. If you chose wisely, you’ll get a set that lets you blitz T15/GR70 pretty quickly. I haven’t looked at the seasonal sets, but I’m sure there’s a good one somewhere. Otherwise LoD necro builds will always kick bottom with even scuffed gear.

Free tips for everyone.

Edit: I looked up the sets

  • Barbarian – Immortal King’s Call
  • Crusader – Seeker of the Light
  • Demon Hunter – Natalya’s Vengeance
  • Monk – Uliana’s Stratagem
  • Necromancer – Trag’Oul’s Avatar
  • Witch Doctor – Spirit of Arachyr
  • Wizard – Vyr’s Amazing Arcana

From those, I’d go with necro, barb, or DH. Ethereals will make any of them a lot easier, too.

3 months is plenty of time to complete Guardian in a single Region.
If you play S32, don’t wait until the last 2 weeks to start.

I had 2 accounts, decided to have this one only and I didn’t do this season on this account. After 1 day of playtime, I finished the season journey to get the pet. So if you know what to do, you can get it done in a day or 2.
On top of that, I leveled 2 classes before I finished

just try to enjoy the game, it helps

I might do… one day!

A lot of people finish the seasons journey the first weekend (me included), so I don’t agree with you OP. Also, it all depends in what you put in the game. If, like myself, go all in the first week and play ALOT, then I pretty much acquire most things in the game. Others like to pace themselves. It’s what give you the greatest joy.

My suggestion: Just enjoy the game and if it doesn’t provide you any enjoyment, then play something else. No need to get upset over it. It’s just a video game.

I’ve been playing with squelchy things.

To be fair, we don’t know how good a person is. For some it can be hard just to get a build for running torment 16.
I still meet players that seem new to the game. But with 3+ months , if you find the journey hard, a lesson is learned that you need to start sooner

You just need to collect 3-4 Petrified Screams by diving into Greater Rifts almost non-stop farming. Consume them in Cube then stand the waves of monsters in Echoing Nightmare as intended; anything above level 70 would do. You just spare one of them to sacrifice at Altar, then run the rest with the hopes of reaching level 125 on at least one of them. You need a Petrified Scream and level 125 Whisper to sacrifice at Altar.
When you collect all three Whispers with scores above level 70, just go into any low Greater Rift you would like, finish it and upgrade any legendary gem ONCE and watch the achievement pop up. After that if you have a level 125 Whisper, you can sacrifice it to Altar.

Good bye. You know you’ll be back when your eyes catch a nice looking cosmetic.

I didn’t even know this. Well, that makes everything much easier

To be honest I took this for trolling folks. If he/she/they/them thinks “D3’s Season Journey is too hard” in comparison to D4 then it’s obvious he/she/they/them doesn’t play D4 when the final step of D4’s Season Journey requires beating Either Tormented Duriel, Tormented Andariel (Tormented bosses are level 200) or Lillith (which most everyone thinks is about the jankiest boss ever created in an ARPG.)

Thus, he/she/they/them is a liar or trolling.

Seems to be a “she” and playing console…

Or a “they” (in response to KillerProc’s response below). I have no intention of being against same sex marriage or show any kind of bigotry.

Having a “husband” doesn’t equate to being female. Same Sex Marriage is legal (for now).

That said, I suppose I could put the obligatory “he/she/they/them” in place of “he”. We shouldn’t misgender folks.

True. Edited my post :smile_cat:

I think that’s unnecessarily harsh. There are a lot of you out there with 13 years of D3 experience who take it for granted. Being able to faceroll a 150 does require a certain amount of experience and knowledge that you might not realise.

Knowing optimal levelling strategies
Being able to assemble a farming build efficiently and correctly with the right stats,
Knowing the mechanics of the build and how to play it correctly
Knowing GR mechanics
Gearing up for pushing
Knowing the season dates
…
This list isn’t exhaustive. I’m sure there’s knowledge I take for granted.

And if you don’t know about Maxroll and Icy Veins as a starting player, the in-game help ain’t going to… errr… help.

Now forget absolutely everything you know about the game. Come in to a community that’s rapidly shrinking and only has a few casuals and the addicts who haven’t found some other digital crack to occupy their time. Some of them are helpful but not a lot. It’s still mostly sarcastic toxicity. And the botters don’t come anywhere near this place.

I feel for the guy but this was a badly chosen location to vent.
