For quite a while the D3 General forum has worked as a forum for all things Diablo. People talk about D4, D:I, D2R, Diablo movies, tv series, weird rumors, and so on.
When D2R releases, it will have its own forum. But right now, most people who might be interested in D2R cant post on the D2R forum.

Some people are playing the beta and still posting on the D3 forum. If they have access to the beta don’t have have assess to the D2R forum.

Yes it’s been used as a general Diablo form and that is the problem. It costs blizzard literally nothing to just open up forums for their unreleased games.
In fact this issue started before D4 was even allowed since lots of D2 fanboys love to come here and still vent their spleen that D3 isn’t D2.2 almost a decade after the game was released. If Blizzard cared about its community it would be doing more pruning. But it’s obvious from the way they run the forum, and the way they run PTRs in D3 (ignore most feedback, push hated/bad changes to normal servers) that they don’t have any interest in any worthwhile community interaction.

Since a forum poster who has not pre-ordered D2R can not post in the D2R forum, where precisely should these threads be moved to?

Open up the D2R form to anyone who has a Diablo game. 
- Create a forum for D4 and D:I as well.

I agree Blizzard could/should make subforums for D4, D:I, D2R etc. that everyone could access. But since they haven’t, dont blame everyone for staying here.
Even with appropriate subforums around, those posts would still “belong” on the D3 forum, since it would be comments on D3.

Complaints about things that cannot realistically be changed by people who don’t play the game and can’t take no for an answer 10 years after the game was released are de facto trolling and don’t belong anywhere.

Even if things cant realistically change anymore, criticism can still be valid. As a way to show that the status quo is considered bad, and not accepted.
We often hear the “it is too late to change X” around here. Even for games that have not even released yet…

That’s how it should’ve been imo. They could’ve gated the Diablo 2 Resurrected forums behind purchasing the game some days or weeks before it actually launched (or even after the game’s launch).

They are interested in feedback from their actual customers, not from those who just come here to troll.
Problem isn’t the gating of D2R forum, Problem is lack of moderation here. Delete every D2R thread and ban it’s creator for a week, and the spook would be over soon.
But this forum has been the garbage heap ever since they invited the world for D4 feedback here.

D2 fans have at least 3 D2R forum sections to post yet they chose not to use them meanwhile D4 players would love to have ONE D4 forum to post instead of posting in D3 General Discussion.
D2R fans have no idea how blessed they were. Even if they don’t preorder D2R, they should at least be able to post in the D2 (2000) section unless 99% of them who claimed to have played D2 for 20 years were pirates. If yes, so much for being D2/Blizzard hardcore fans.

I own 2 copies of D1, 4 copies of D2, and 1 copy of D3. I am their customer. I shouldn’t have to preorder something to give feedback on a future project I may be interested in.
This is exactly the problem. I can post all I want about D:I on the D3 forums and I do not need to preregister. I can post all I want about D4 on the D3 forums and I do not have to preorder the game. In order to post about D2R, I must submit to a preorder paywall.
The problem is a total lack of consistency. For 2 future games, they are begging for any and all feedback and will let you post freely on the forums not dedicated to those games. For 1 of their future games, they require a payment in order to comment on the forum not dedicated to that game.

I finished the D2R beta the updated graphics are great. I most likely will not even play the full game, D2 just does not do anything for me anymore. If I could I would give my copy to someone who could use it. Bring on D4.
