What I did like about D3 and what I still like is pretty much the same actually.
Mostly I like QoL: Gold pickup pet, that vacuum stuff pickup, shared bigger stash/inventory, maybe the ability to craft something every now and then, not sure about rerolling mods, kanai cube’s extract leg powers are OK’ish.
Combat fluidity as opposed to D2 yes, but it is a much newer game so nothing really to drool about much.
Fluid combat - I like the animations and killing hoards of enemies in quick successions.
Rifts. I like being competetive, and so rifts leaderboards was (and still is) a great idea for me, it brings me back to the game every season. Even tho there are a lot of cheaters, botters and min-maxers, it feels good to achieve something knowing you did it “clean”; I once was in top10 crusaders with my mediocre 1,4k paragon around mid season, then I stopped playing cus I knew I wouldn’t physically be able to catch up with botters. Still, feels great.
Fluid combat system, even on a low end PC. In this aspect, D3 is the best in all ARPG right now.
As an adult, I only have 10-15 mins game time session, from time to time, maybe several sessions a day, but I rarely have moe than 30mins to do anything at all. So the rift, GR of D3 is perfect to such time, I can run 2-3 of them then stop, dealing w/ my family. With other RPG, I don’t feel like I do anything meaningful in such a short time. POE offer then same w/ map but POE is less forgiving in playing carelessly.
that I can gear myself to the max without needing to trade a nickel.
Makes me wish I could erase ~8 years worth of memories of playing D3 so I could start from scratch. Too many changes occured too long after release, and unfortunately I’ve played through all of it. S19 will possibly be my very last.
