I already did that twice (opened a support ticket for the forums), and it was basically a waste of time. The customer support people that manage it didn’t have any information to offer aside from what we already know (the forum guide).
I think the customer support representatives who answer those tickets primarily deal with other forums (e.g. WoW or SC2) and do not know much about the D3 forums.
Honestly, if they would just fix it so you could post links from Blizzard’s own forum/websites without having to require TL3 for them, that’s all I need. That alone is about the most idiotic thing in this forum. The ability to post cat videos from YouTube but cannot even link your own damn character profile from the website without using preformatted text.
Yeah, exactly. Blizzard’s forum moderation is sloppy and inconsistent. I just got a two week ban on the WoW forums for this:
“If Blizzard catered to people like you, they’d be at the gallows with every single decision they ever made. Nothing short of your exact demands satisfies you.”
Yet you’ve got people calling each other retards and getting really personal with the insults and attacks but those people continue to post daily.
Okay, let’s go on these one by one with a chance of being completed by me.
Must have visited at least 50% of last 100 days 100% Must have replied to at least 10 different topics 100% Of topics created in the last 100 days, must have viewed 500 topics 100% Of posts created in the last 100 days, must have read 20,000 posts 99% Must have received 20 likes, and given 30 likes 100% Must not have received more than 5 spam or offensive flags 100% Must not have been suspended 100%
So, I have over 50k read posts in profile. Seems like all of these aren’t counted to that 20k value that’s needed aka back on my theory from above.
Hmm, now that I think, maybe I scroll too fast and what is indexed in profile isn’t indexed for the requirement?
I thought the 30 likes given requirement was a Boolean, i.e. true or false, rather than something which needed to be maintained in the rolling window. On EU, I obtained TL3 back in October and have grand total of 37 likes given in the 161 days the new forums have been active. If that was the cause, I probably would have lost it due to that.
For threads I’m actually reading, I use the mouse wheel to slowly scroll through them. For threads I’m just scrolling through that I have no interest in reading I press in the mouse wheel and the move my mouse pointer down… that gives an accelerated downward scroll. Posts that are unread have a little blue circle next to the date/time of posting at their top right. To count as read, that blue circle has to disappear. Occasionally, if I scroll too fast, some of the posts don’t seem to lose that little blue circle. It seems to be the last few posts of a thread that happens on though, the intermediary ones count as read.
This is wrong. I now re-checked it and the first time I got 30%, because not all posts were read.
Re-reading old posts gives ZERO value to counted posts in profile.
Now, the other part of the theory might be right:
It could be that scrolling very fast indexes some posts as read in the profile, but doesn’t count these for the TL status.
I am scrolling slow now and we’ll see the result tomorrow.
I now checked and I lost TL3 exactly on 101st day. So, the likes being a rolling requirement might turn out to be true. But then, why isn’t this mentioned in the green quote?
What’s the source of the green quote?
Seems like it’s this one: https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/the-ultimate-forum-guide-codes-trust-levels-faq/6159
The original data comes from the Discourse software information page - the company that makes the software.
Blizzard then modified it some for their various games. Overwatch was the first one to get it quite some time ago. The green poster is WyomingMyst who is a Tech Support MVP there. He has exensive experience using the Blizzard modified version of Discourse.
Then, Blizz tweaks it a bit for each individual game - so there may be some things unique to D3 that are not the same as OW.
As for why he did not mention it, he probably does not know.
I am sure somebody knows, but it would be someone on the Web Team, not the Forum Moderators who handle janitor duties here, nor the CS team who take tickets.
You can’t talk directly to the Web team
For the same reason they used to borrow my copy paste posts in Tech Support. If someone has already written a guide, why re-invent the wheel? He put the guide on all the game forums as each one switched to the new software. Blizz stickied it there.
Okay, we’ll put the guide to the test here at the Diablo forums.
Right now likes being a rolling requirement seems WAY more probable than me not meeting the post read requirement.
And btw, what’s more interesting, the support guys didn’t want to tell me the exact requirement I am missing, like it’s some kind of supreme secrecy. WTH ROFL.
They are not part of the Web team and likely don’t know what part is missing. They are CS - they don’t dive into software and sort out info that is not plainly obvious in your Summary. They have no training to do that. It is not part of the support they usually provide.
As far as I know, there is no place that displays how far along you are to getting each one of the requirements. People have asked about it for a long time on the other forums. I honestly have never seen any indication saying it can be done right now.
