Primals, love them or hate them, they are here to stay. But unfortunately, due to most items in the game being less than useful, primals are often a letdown and are just salvaged.
I purpose something simple to make them more interesting. How about adding a cube recipe that uses a primal as a reagent? i’d suggest an ancient item + a primal rerolls that specific ancient item.
This would be a long way to fix the sheer disappointment of most primal drops, but not breaking the reward cycle. Seems an easy fix and WILL make the game more fun for everyone.
14 primals this season and nothing I can wear. To say that is disappointing is an understatement. (Even got the same item twice…like what?)
I’d rather have primals be 1/1000 and I can pick the item I want. They are so underwhelming atm and so RNG based it just isn’t fun if you are on the bottom. (seeing people in season wearing 2-4 primals already is just depressing imo)
Most of my primals that I get are pretty much useless, either striaght to salvage or just store in stash to salvage later lol… You’d think when you see that red beam its something awesome for you to use to improve your character but most of the time its not. Something interesting needs to be added in to make “primals” more fun to play with.
Which is exactly what I tried to accomplish. The good news is, I suggested Season of Nightmare being permanent, which they implemented as the gem (better than my idea, I admit) as well as Legacy of Dreams being changed to the first gem drop of the season (which they did, only 2nd) so I’m hoping I can improve the game once again.
I’m nearing 1200 paragon, and have literally had 5 primal drop. 5. FIVE. Period end, the drop rate needs fixed.
Personally, I don’t continue to play seasons nor this game because of a new transmog, wings, nor pet. I play because the opportunity exists to get the best gear.
As new sets come out coupled with season themes, solo players are crushing the leaderboard (bot or not). It’s been 2 weeks and the top DH has cleared a 141 solo. I think a 4 man group crushed a 150 in 3min in season 20. So, I ask, truly what is so detrimental to the game to increase the drop rate of primals?
There’s literally nowhere else to go if we’re crushing these top GR levels so quickly.
I also think it’d be a great idea to add a “check box” in the cube where you click to reforge a primal, and it always guarantees that it remains primal. This should also cost a hefty gold price too, and can only be used for primal items. Useful primals don’t always drop with the desired stats.
p800 and 4 or 5 have dropped for me. I have personally found that the drop rate seems to be better once you clear a GR100 - I have noticed this for the past 4 seasons, and several friends have noticed it too. It could be my imagination, I guess. It just feels more common after clearing a GR100.
I agree that a cube reciipe for either re-rolling a primal or being able to use a crappy primal to make a selected ancient primal would be a great idea. Blizzard will never do it though.
On a similar topic, Primals need to be auto updated if said item is updated by Blizzard (like set items do). It wouldn’t be hard to do…I find an end game perfectly rolled primal and down the track it gets buffed by Blizzard, making that supposedly end game item crap (example, HPS quiver). It’s an utter joke and just screwing players imho.
This recipes will be interesting:
3 random item --> 1 random item
3 random ancient item --> 1 random ancient item
3 random primal item --> 1 random primal item
3 specific item --> 1 specific item.
3 specific ancient item --> 1 specific ancient item.
3 specific primal item --> 1 specific primal item.
Specific means exactly same item, for example convert 3 dayntee belt become 1 new dayntee belt. I have several ancient Dawn crossbow, but none of them near 65% cooldown reduction, this is so disappoint me, by using this recipe it will give me another chance to get better Dawn.
From the recipe above you can see there will be no more useless / auto salvage primal item. All can be converted and give use more hope.
max stat theory and gear bonuses they actually are more skillful than you think for ex. elemental dmg
phy +20%
holy +20%
poison +20%
arc +20%
fire +20%
cold +20%
light +20%
There is simple solution for crap primals.
Primal should be reforged to primal only.
The same patch: rings and amulets should have guaranteed socket or ramaldani gift possible on them.

I have got 7 primals this season. Only one is usable. That should not be the situation. It’s nuts when I have an ancient item that has better stats than the primal I got.
It would difficult to make Primal better or interesting than Ancient without give it more power.
In every season, the loot hunt is over for me the time I got 13 Ancients with Caldesann Despair (Lv100 gems) for my seasonal character. The thought of hunting 13 Primals never come across my mind because I just can’t see the appeal for doing that unless I have OCD.
Melt down 25 primals to reroll one primal (as the same primal, just reroll the stats). Make the number rather high so that not everyone will have all perfect primals but it means that those useless primals that you find can at least be used for another chance at a useful primal later on.
