Well to add to this, the Twitter post by the main Diablo producer was talking about the limitations of the engine and that they’ve pushed it as far as they can (to 19:9 aspect). However they didn’t go into detail and said they would make a post probably after Beta concerning it.
I am still hopeful that they will have some sense and leave it up to the individual for SP. This I think should be a bare minimum. MP is where I’m a little more forgiving in suggestions and what could happen. But at the same time I believe the current black bar solution is not/should not be the solution.
There have been multiple solutions/suggestions that I believe could fit and be a happy medium.

Oh I agree Grim. That’s just what they stated.
Though I don’t know the intricate details of the aggro range, or the coding specifically to state otherwise. The alpha videos I have seen, do indeed look like the game has been playing fine. I wish I could have been in the closed alpha to experience it for myself and comment on directly.

If it still goes through the same way as it is, but someone is able to mod it out for SP I will still support them, even though I will be incredibly disappointed in them catering to PvP on the issue.

i think they are running out of time so now they are cutting corners to make the release date (a huge NO from the boss. no more time) that’s what i suspect is going on here those lazy coward’s .cant even tell the truth to the customers.

catering to pvp that can’t even be played without bugs and glitches but is some how balanced so well it is highly competitive and can’t withstand the onslaught of adding 31% more screen width to a screen that is already up 33% from the live game.
I’m not exactly sure how to read your response, as it’s hard to pickup on which way it’s debating and if you are being sarcastic or not.
I don’t consider D2 PvP “highly competitive”, is there an actual league where there are prize pools? How about E-sports leagues? Streamed tournaments? If not, I would not put it in the same category as games that fit those requirements.

oh i was agreeing with you on this pvp is a hysterically bad reason to remove ultrawide support especially if you could toggle it in a game by game basis. It isn’t supported by any of the recognizable leagues their is no official tournament, it’s not balanced and now people are crying it can’t even be played properly without glitches.

Yeah, that is exactly true. I hate sometimes when you read something on a forum/post and it’s hard to figure out which way to take it. I did not mean to come across as negative if it was viewed as such, was just further clarifying myself on the second part of the last post.
I will say one thing though, PvP’ers in this game have such a hard stance. They don’t want someone ELSE to have an “advantage”. Yet at the same time they want YOU to participate in PvP even if you do not.
To me most of the times I’ve been PvP’ed in the original and LoD it’s been someone else having the jump on me, or advantage at the time. It’s never been a time where they will message in-game in the chat and ask if I’d like to PvP (unless it’s an actual game room specified).
So it’s like they want the advantage while PvPing, but yet don’t want anyone else to have a perceived advantage. Ironic.
even on d2r already the current meta is to grind to 32+ then go in and hostile people of a much lower level just to wipe them all out and bad talk them, it’s the skilled move i guess.

Not surprising, I just don’t understand the PvP ganker mindset. It’s so foreign to me, that’s just not a fun thing to do.
most pvp gankers are board players that have nothing better to do than get off on other peoples misery. both in game and in troll form on the forums.

Or better yet, just keep the black bars and make it so the cursor disappears after a certain point or something. I don’t care if an ultrawide player can see me coming.
No. That is not how physics works:
When you TILT AND ZOOM, you can give the exact amount of information as other screen formats, for all formats.
Only zooming, without a tilt, causes loss of information.
Imagine a chess board.
It can be fully represented in any screen format through tilting and zooming, obviously without any square falling outside the screen.
And all this argument about seeing more, faster teleport, faster collecting items, faster climbing on the ladder will be irrelevant on Day 2. Bot with maphack built in, running 24/7 doesnt care about your opinion 16:9 users, does he? Now compare the amount of bots currently running in D2 to amount of UW users. Yeah, ban us, it will truly preserve the “fairness” on D2R realms.

It is not I do not understand what you are saying Frost.
There are other aRPGs that allow you to tilt and zoom whatever direction you want. Give me an example of what you are referring to because anytime a game has already done it, or you can try yourself I have not seen a exact amount of information.
Ha there been an official response to the black bars, yet?
