Yes, Diablo 4 should absolutely have attribute points gained from levelling up that players get to allocate. It’s an important and fun part of character building.
Along with detailed skill and talent trees, it’s one of the things I’m hoping Diablo 4 to have.
this piqued my interest. another stat for either demonic or angelic side. which could synergize with certain types of spells and could allow us to choose our own fate if not at the very least it could provide some choice while adding a little something extra to the game play like towards the overall balance of the game (the balance between angel/demon not talking about balance of character dps). cool idea i like it.
not arguing for or against that person’s stat design, but I think resource reduction use would be far more useful in the D3 setup due to Resources starting out at “maximum” from level 1, with all costs staying what they were at level 1, compared to D2 where max MP (and therefore MP regen) and spell costs would go up as you leveled up.
So i don’t think the scenario’s of D2 where resources become trivial will happen.
It reinforces the lore, which is based not only on the attributes of an ordinary human, but a special human, such as heroes, who develop special abilities to combat evil.
Not all power is pure, not all peace is achieved with beautiful words or kind deeds, we all have a little good and evil within us.
So the name of the attribute is Balance, something natural for those who are a hybrid.
Sub-Attributes are the result of choice, of course I have given examples that may not be balanced, I have done just to serve as an example of how choosing on one side or another weighs in who you are and who you want to be.
It’s not just executed differently, it’s entire purpose is different. In every system I see it’s always essentially the same minor stat boost applied generically across all classes.
My system is trying to make it so abilities and builds can change slightly. Not hugely but just in some ways.
For example bash and meteor with impact can be modified to be single target focused, utility focused (stun), or aoe focused. But that doesn’t apply to every ability or every class equally.
Even if two people put all their points into one stat, they won’t necessarily choose the same bonuses.
Procs are unreliable, but people still take crit gear. The whole system is a modification of crits. Actually crit could probably taken out completely and replaced with this kind of system.
Any way to customize your character I agree with, if I want to hit slow and hard or fast with more accuracy or crit. Maybe I would rather tank and aoe stun and play with my pure glass cannon buddy who just aoe mows stuff down.
Even so give me some options, its a role playing game there are supposed to be at least a dozen roles per class I can choose from. At least give me the option to try and fail.
