Classics Shivan. They were the best of times to grow up in and around music. Paul rogers and Bad company after that good stuff too. Fogerty and Clearwater revival… great history in those two posts.

I figure this fits as a community creation. No affiliation to myself but it is kind of funny, mildly…

Yes boys and girls, this is how papa does it.

I was 19 on liberty (USMC) in the Philippines when this record came out during the age if Disco. I asked by buddy “what the hell just hit us.” Well, we soon found out that it was the Mighty Van Halen.

I must repeat myself friend.

I was a little older than you touring with John Prine as his lighting designer.
We were driving to the next gig and someone popped this cassette in the player and we were all just like you on that ship/base in the Philippines.

We had been hit with an alien invasion and they were openly taking young men hearts away.

This is one of the most influential, ground breaking and greatest rock albums EVER!

Goose bumps popping as I listen to this again.

  • 100 props to Avalon the master blaster!

Alien invasion… yelawolf - light as a feather.
Got to share a bit of that.

When I say “Alien Invasion” I’m talking about the reality of the moment that first Van Halen hit the world it was something no one close had ever created.
Eddie was a genius.

Another amazing thing Eddie did was change the way guitars were made after he created his axe that blew everyone away.

There was no one in the world ever made something so beautiful and life changing.

So when I say “Alien Invasion” I mean it was like the first time it hit the earth that that guitar god Eddie touched us all.

If you are a 20 year old right now, you can’t appreciate what Avalon and I experienced.

I know kids today laugh at the lyrics of Van Halen and listen to current music only.

I like Van Halen chill lol. I said he was the best, or one of. Yelawolf is also like an alien invasion though and again one of the best.

If you think about the impact that EVH had almost all of the guitar players from the 80s copied him in one form or another. EVH liked Richard Blackmore but they sound totally different because EVH created a new style. As for current “music” you can have most of it. I will stick with the 70s and 80s when they actually knew what they were doing. Just look at what a joke the R&R hall of fame is. Dolly Parton gets in but not Jethro Tull, what the hell.

I discovered this track today. I don’t like this kind of music… but it’s very bewitching (or haunting, don’t find the good translation, sorry)

Great show too. As a long time Power Metal and Symphonic Metal fan … it was nice to hear some songs integrated into the show like his Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

Some other bands …
