This was the first million seller jazz album ever.
Take Five is the biggest selling jazz single ever. (of course Miles Davis- “So What” is second.)

Joe Morello was the drummer: he is one in the greatest group of jazz performers known to man.

Paul Desmond, who was Brubeck’s alto saxophonist, wrote the song called “Take Five” because it was written in an unusual 5/4 meter.

  1. Blue Rondo à la Turk - 00m00s
  2. Strange Meadow Lark - 6m45s
  3. Take Five - 14m11s
  4. Three to Get Ready - 19m38s
  5. Kathy’s Waltz - 25m04s
  6. Everybody’s Jumpin’ - 29m59s
  7. Pick Up Sticks - 34m27s

Album Description:

The album was intended as an experiment using musical styles Brubeck discovered abroad while on a United States Department of State sponsored tour of Eurasia, such as when he observed in Turkey a group of street musicians performing a traditional Turkish folk song that was played in 9/8 time, a rare meter for Western music.

Brubeck had always been interested in polyrhythm and polytonality.

The first theory is what drives African music; the second is tied closely to classical.

This one hour piece is the 3rd song “Take Five” from album Take Out, in a deep, fantastic way as the musicians move around blowing your mind.

That was the best Prince guitar solo EVER! He took over that session. Just look at the expression of the rest of the artists. So cool!

Prince was amazing.
I loved how no matter what Prince did, it was all so fresh with everyone.

George Harrison’s son smiled big when Prince was playing.
He genuinely loved Prince.

Unlike many of “artists” today, Prince actually knew what he was doing. He could basically do it all.

Music is timeless.

Music is color blind.

First gen kids insisting on new kids music is fine.

Well, here’s my shot at Modern Music but the people in it are older than 16 so not sure if it’s modern.

Well, if we’re going to get a bit more modern, then I suppose a dose of Alien Porno Midgets is in order…
