Switch: D3 frame rate issues

Hello.

I recently purchased D3 on Switch.
I notice the gameplay is a bit choppy, particularly when character runs diagonally.

How can I fix this?

bad news, the game engine Blizz chose for D3 is and has always had poor performance. I guess the switch port too is suffering which doesn’t surprise me.
There are a few tricks us PC users can do to help remedy but not solve the stutters but not sure about consoles.

Most unfortunate.

Can you tell me which engine (exactly) blizzard chose to display the Switch ingame footage found in the landing page for D3? That ingame footage therein appears stutterless, smooth, crisp. I want THAT engine instead of this engine that I apparently got.

Any idea how I can switch engines??? Devs???

Howdy!

This is very likely not an engine issue. The information you were provided was an opinion. We have no outstanding known bugs related to performance issues of this nature on PC or Switch. I would recommend troubleshooting from a few directions to help narrow this down:

  • (If the game is installed to the SD card.) For best load performance make sure the game is installed to the Switch’s internal storage. Clear up space on your internal storage and reinstall the game to internal storage instead of SD card.
  • Try playing with the console docked to a TV. (Check the TV’s manual for information about the HDMI ports. Try making sure the console is connected to the PC port or check the menu of the tv to see if this option can be turned on based off the source channel.)
  • An unstable connection is the most common issue for this type of problem. The console and server constantly update eachother but if packet loss occurs hiccups in gameplay can start. Nintendo site has troubleshooting for this Here. They also cover going wired Here but this requires the adapter.

If these steps do not help resolve the issue, I do recommend to speak with the ISP to troubleshoot a possible WiFi issue just to be safe or focus on going wired to rule out an unstable WiFi. You may also speak with Nindento support Here.

Thank you!

Hi and thank you for replying.

I had D3 on the SD card and I removed it. I then installed it on the system’s memory and now the game plays flawlessly! I didn’t know how to move the game from the SD card to the system memory so I just uninstalled it and re-downloaded it from the Nintendo store.

I really appreciate this. Thanks again.
