I think their plan is just to release D2R with a few QoL changes. If the game has great success, there will be changes, but in a new realm. Maybe they will even make a whole new expansion with the changes.
Ya exactly. i keep telling everyone to wait for post-launch if they are hoping for a chance at more changes. Theyâve made it very clear the Stash and Gold were the only major changes coming to the game with more possibly after launch with lots of testing and feedback. But even then, wouldnât get my hopes up. If loads of new people want a ton of changes and to be on a new realm, blizz will probably do it. Post launch. The game definitely shouldnât be delayed even a single day for it.
Since Blizzard announced today that D2R is not coming out in the first half of 2021, there is still plenty of time to incorporate changes based on Blizzards two recent surveys, the direct feedback from the technical alpha, and presumably feedback for the multiplayer beta whose starts date has not yet been officially announced.
Iâm not against changes but you guys are way more unrealistic⌠I mean, optimistic than me
I really doubt they will push this any closer than it already is to D4, which I know is a ways off, but still, a 2022 release of this remaster? Iâd be shocked.
I believe they want to keep it fairly simple and straightforward, at least in the beginning. Quoting Blizzard saying things like âwho knows what might happen in the futureâ doesnât mean a lot to me. People always want to appear open to possibilities, without really answering. Very typical in interviews. Expected, even. Because really, who knows? A .01% chance isnât no chance. Itâs a safe answer without the possibility of blowback from shutting down the idea.
And this talk of âoptionsâ and multiple realms always amuses me. âoptionsâ are exactly what they are, because options arenât always really options to many people, especially if they affect balance. Itâs the illusion of choice, as itâs been said. How can a charm inventory be an option? Optional cheats to make the game easier for people? People want to play the game on a level playing field.
Maybe Iâm wrong. I hope Blizzard does make changes. I actually hope they release a mostly faithful remaster and then add to the game down the road. I just think peoplesâ ideas of how changes should be implemented arenât ⌠ideal.
Blizzard has stated that D2R will release by 12/31/2021 and today refined that to the second half of 2021.
It depends on how a charm inventory is implemented. Many people fill their inventory to the brim with charms, increasing their characterâs power. If the charm inventory was only half the size of the current inventory and charms only âworkedâ in that inventory, the game would actually be harder not easier.
The issue is that there is no way to please those who want the status quo versus those who want changes. Separate game servers seem like the best win-win solution.
Has Blizzard ever eluded to this idea? Or is this just an idea people have come up with on the forums? Iâve made my views pretty clear on this⌠I honestly think two types of realms will invite more expectations and more complaints from players. I know you donât like to speculate a lot though.
That may work, still seems odd to me. Would it be a permanent option at character creation? Or something you toggle anytime? I think there are issues with both. That was just one example, though. Something like automatically picking up gold works well with a toggle option (although I think nobody would have it off), but in my opinion even on an updated realm you wouldnât want too many toggleable options. Peoplesâ choices shouldnât feel negligible. I they should have consequences and feel impactful. Basically the argument people use against unlimited re-specs.
Just my two-cents.
wouldnt mind if they do. going to spend a ton of hours on this game
First of all as someone that used to work in a field which regulates click bait I assure you itâs not, I have no control on where people take the conversation, Iâm not an admin
I donât trust because everything looks pretty, I trust them because I saw how well they handled their research and implementation, if it be how they surveyed all the raw game files or how they followed the voice of the community
so even if they might get something wrong I trust them to fix it or revert it, as I said before they can access old patchs for rebalancing and if it doesnât work they can revert it back to normal after testing
I guess I should have been clearer in the original post, we assume they got all these quality of life changes under control within the release time frame(saying releasing before 2022), my point was, if people will be willing to wait for additional content or some sort of balancing as well if it meant a postponed released date
