I’m using the Shadow’s Mantle set. And I’m puzzled by something.
The 4 piece set bonus says: Shadow Power gains the effect of every rune and lasts forever. But it clearly is not including the Night Bane rune in the lasts forever part of the effect.
This is super easy to test. Equip 4 pieces of the set and put Shadow Power on your skill bar. Activate Shadow Power. Then walk up to any monster. Note that it does not have the slow glow on its feet. Now activate Shadow Power. All nearby monsters immediately get the glow. Wait a few seconds. The glow disappears.
Am I wrong in assuming this is a bug? Has it always been this way? Which other runes is it leaving out?
It’s not a bug but a feature. The set dungeon is designed around that - it’s well known and intended
Manually triggering SP with 4 or 6 piece can help you, because
And with standard build (37%CDR, 10%RCR from paragon) - you can spam SP and have 100% elusive uptime - so no need to vault out in good spots in front of a elite.
It sounds like it’s been this way for a while. I’ve probably never noticed before because I usually have a Bane of the Trapped equipped. But I don’t know how anyone reading the 4 piece set bonus could interpret it any other way than: All runes will be active at all times, including Night Bane.
Your explanations are, unfortunately, completely irrelevant. The set dungeon or another item’s legendary power or the possible drawback of having a large slow aura are not in any way a part of the set itself.
As far as I can tell, none of the other runes require re-activation. Shadow Glide and Well of Darkness are clearly perpetually active. I have to assume Gloom and Blood Moon are as well (or I would die more often). Therefore, I find it absurd that Night Bane would be left out.
Oh well. It’s obviously a bug, but it’s equally obvious that’s how it will stay. Moving on.
Ok, if the correct answer is irrelevant, then I guess you just wanted to state your opinion w/o getting answers or understanding why the set works as it does.
Also Gloom and Shadow glide only last 5 seconds (‘when active’ must be the key), and now you get no visual timer. Those of you who did not notice this and are piling on the OP are in fact scrubs.
Well, here in the DH forums we are mostly polite and almost always helpful. We are always trying to explain stuff and help younger Demon Hunters on their journey taking vengeance.
Even if the first posting of a new user is an insult.
No, they last forever with S4. Once activated, Gloom gives you 35% less damage taken, and Shadow Glide will increase your movement speed by 30% - “forever”. Of course, everytime you enter a new GRift, and everytime you die, you need to activate it again.
When you notice a temporary buff in speed or toughness after activating Shadow Power (and I know you are by looking at your profile): Please have a closer look on the Items and skills you’re using, especially your Elusive Ring and passive Tactical Advantage.
Nope, you are just an idiot. You are mistaking the effect of Tactical Advantage and your Elusive Ring. Those give you a speed boost and toughness boost when you activate Shadow Power. Try removing them and see for yourself.
And yes, Night Bane not lasting forever is not a bug. It is a momentary effect that only occurs upon activation of the skill. In other words, its duration is zero. So zero multiplied by infinity is still zero. Not a bug, just simple math.
I’m fascinated by all the different view points on what to me seemed cut and dry.
I still think it is a poor interpretation or implementation by Blizzard. I know Marauder’s 2 piece and Patterns of Justice 2 piece don’t randomly leave out runes. If there are any other legendary or set bonuses that say all runes but don’t include them all, I’d be interested in hearing about them and why.
Regardless, that may be an unhelpful comparison, as the difference with Night Bane is how it is applied. When I read lasts forever I interpreted that as something akin to an aura. But TimberWolf’s explanation also makes sense.
In the end, it doesn’t really matter. Few players will equip Shadow’s Mantle and not also equip Bane of the Trapped. I only did so because Bane of the Trapped hadn’t dropped for me yet this season. Now I’m drowning in the mental quagmire that is deciding which weapon(s) to use with GoD.
Frankly I’m much more annoyed that the speed buff isn’t permanent… you only get it for a few seconds after casting it. Nowhere in the tooltip does it mention this.
Depends on the zero and depends on the infinity from a calculus perspective. Typically, without context, zero times infinity is an undefined limit.
As for the rest of this thread, I think Kindergarten and Hebalon answered the question. I just thought I’d derail this thread a little more since the topic seems closed.
