Season Journey and Achievement Bug [Solution]

Personnally I also did try all methods, inlcuding “run as admin”, and using Google DNS.
I also tried a fresh install from a different computer.
None of these tries helped to solve the issue. Season joourney is still blank when connected to EU, and works fine on other realms :frowning:

That’s really useful information as, in one stroke, it proves that the issue is not client-side, because it’s a different PC, a clean client install, and starts off with no locally cached data, i.e. the problem has to be account based / server side.

The entire issue, at least in my case, seems to be Account bound
I let my Boyfriend try it with my Account on his computer in brazil, so neither the same Network nor provider, and it didnt work for him either, so this is an issue with the Account itself and probably has nothing to do with the computer you use

I agree with jakob601.
My last tries :

  • Connecting via another DNS (Google DNS) : same issue
  • Connecting thru a VPN, from several server around the world (UK, US, Canada, Japan …) : same issue !
Hard to think this is not Account bound …

Account bound? … interesting theory …
If account related, you may try resetting battle.net password, it may resolve some account-related issues.

  • Exit D3 and launcher entirely
  • Login to your account management webpage
  • Change your password (you may change it back after testing.)
  • Test again with the new password

Good Luck!

Well, what I meant with “account bound” is that something may be wrong in my season journey datas stored on EU realm, or at least, something prevents from accessing this datas on this realm. I doubt that changing password will help but, as I don’t see anything else to do so far, I will give it a try.

It would be nice if we could activate some tracing / error logging on the client side in order to troubleshout more easily, but I don’t know if something like that is possible ?

Changing password doesn’t take much time and harmless. Why not give it a try?

The achievement/journey window display problem shouldn’t affect you getting the achievement. The last thing I can suggest is to use the season journey tracker to track your season progress. When you finish an objective, you should see an achievement pop up on-screen. You can mark it on the web page: Diablo 3: Season 27 Journey Tracker

First of all I would like to thank you Maskraider for your support and suggestions.
Even if problem is not yet solved, I really appreciate your suggestions.
I’ve tried to change my account password, but unfortunately it did not help.
I will try to complete the journey with the help of the web page you linked.
At least if I can complete the journey and unlock the rewards, it will be not so bad.

Good news ! I finally managed to unlock my season journey screen !
When looking closer on my achievments, I’ve noticed that my Set Dungeon was not validated (it was my first barbarian character since few years, and I’ve never done any Set Dungeon with this class), although I’m absolutely sure to have succeed one this season.
So, it seems something wrong happened when validating this achievement, leaving the season journey datas in an unknown state.
So I decided to try to validate another time this Set Dungeon. And Bingo ! Once validated, the season journey screen came back miraculously !
Pfiouhh that was a lot of efforts to find the root cause of this bug, but finally it was indeed related to one step of the journey that was incorrectly validated, and stayed in a weird state, leading to a buggy screen.

So for those who still have the issue, please try to re-do some of the recent steps of the journey, and especially the Set Dungeon that was buggy for me.

Thanks for the work done, I’ll check tonight.:+1:

Congratulation!

I think completing an achievement did the trick. It makes the achievement server to “push” data to the client.

Remind that, no methods permanently fix the problem. You may want to bookmark this topic in case you’ll need it in the future.

@others, if the methods don’t work, try completing some achievements and check again. You may refer to Diablo 3: Season 31 Journey Tracker for a list of seasonal objectives.

Game On!

Actually, it was server datas that were buggy, as even after removing cache files or even a fresh install on a different computer did not help.
One more thing, I’ve also completed new achievements since the screen was bugged, it did not help neither.
It was only one of the previously completed objective datas that were corrupted on server side. And then when re-completing this objective, the client pushed this fresh datas and erased corrupted ones on server side.
IMHO, it’s the only scenario that explains all the symptoms I faced.

We know that the achievement/journey update may be delayed (could be days! not kidding).
But, we think that the achievements on the server are not affected. Just it can’t be updated to client. Reference:

https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/d3/t/things-that-are-not-bugs/62

Q1: did you complete the “new” achievements before or after you tried the methods in this topic?
Q2: When you re-completed the objective, did the achievement notification pop up again? Which objective?

As I said above, the update of achievements might be delayed. It might not be a data corruption at server side. Could be the server has problem to synchronize the data to the client. That’s why “Method 3 - Run as Admin” and “Method 4 - Firewall” are the solutions.

Also, I tried to avoid “bug” in this topic because the causes means to be “corrupted data at client side” or “network problem”. They belong to technical problems.

The whole issue remains a mystery to us (or even to supports). Only developers can tell why it happens.

Q1 : I’ve completed few ones after I tried the methods (100% sure). Achievement notification correctly poped up, but season journey screen was still blank.
I may also have completed some ones before the method, but can’t be affirmative as it was few days ago.
Q2 : Yes, the achievement notification poped up again (and I’m sure it poped up also the very first time). The objective was “Complete a Set Dungeon” and/or “Master a Set Dungeon”, as I think I’ve completed both simultaneously.

I do not believe it could be a simple delay in the update of achievements, for this particular case.

Please also note that I’ve posted a support request ticket on the EU site, and after few days telling me that I should follow methods described in this current thread, I just had an interesting answer this morning.
I can’t link you the answer of the game master as it is inside my ticket (and in french language), but he said me that (I’ve just ‘google trad’ it) :
Thanks to all the reports we received, the developers ended up confirming that for some players the problem was indeed related to a bug in game.

They have not yet managed to reproduce the situation that created the bug at the origin but they are working in all cases to correct this

Thank you for sharing this. I’m sure those who are experiencing this issue appreciate it.

Thanks for the update. This is the first official reply on this subject for so many years.

@Maskraider : could you please share this workaround on the original post ?
It has also worked for another player today :

Done. :ok_hand: :+1:
