After trying d2 with a controller… It’s amazing. I love it.
I’d really like to be able to use mouse and controller at the same time. Or optional wsad movement keybinding. Everything stays the same but wsad is an additional movement method. You can still use mouse to move or bind it to an attack.
It’s so fluid
How many hands do you have to want to use mouse + controller?
Wasd movement with mouse would still be wild to try and hut potions/skills/etc… I don’t think either would be workable by the average person at any decent speed
I am thinking D5 where you can use controller with your feet and mouse/keyboard with your hands and a VR headset on your head. 
If you have a mouse with 20 custom keys I think it is feasible.
