My feeling is, if it is LTO with a payment, it shouldn’t be able to earn in the game unless it is specified when they make the LTO. I am fine if they want to make it available later on where people pay the difference. I.E. you get pet and wings with a Deluxe preorder, then later allow people to upgrade their copy to Deluxe and still get those pets.
If an item is LTO as part of an in game event, such as Sxx rewards, then I have no problem with them adding that in later as a recycled reward or like the Holiday Gifts they did the one year.
In the case of the Wings of Valor, I believe the condition wasn’t simply preordering despite it being a preorder bonus. You just had to have the game and have activated it by a certain date… and that date was something like 3 weeks after ROS released.
Considering these days they include cosmetics in the higher tier bundles of D4, I personally think the Wings of Valor should just be included as part of the ROS CE or Digital Deluxe editions.
Wings of Justice though… that was exclusive to the D3 CE and there’s no Digital Deluxe edition… and it could be argued that the value of the unactivated/unopened CEs will drop if they created a D3 DD with the Wings of Justice. But the game is that old now, would it really matter? A question for further discussion methinks.
Would also be nice if all the Blizzcon D3 cosmetics got bundled up to be sold at a reasonable price now.
From Miss Cheetah’ master list for Wings of Valor it required purchase of D3ROS DE or CE and DE Pre-Orders and CE activations must have occurred before 11:59 PM PST on March 31st, 2014.
and are no longer available.
From Miss Cheetah’s master list for Wings of Justice it was only through D3V CE, which are still available on secondary market if you want to take the risk.
Me personally, I do not care about the secondary market. For both the cases of these wings, I would have no problem if they let people pay a reasonable fee to upgrade either version of the game to CE and get all the goodies that went along with that original deal.
Feel the same way. Maybe make it a “We have no Blizzcon this year Blizzcon deal”.
For battle.net purchases yes… but they didn’t have a means to work out which boxed copies were a preorder or not. One of my bro’s friends was on the fence, bought RoS just after release when reviews were good and still got the wings.
Guess it was only a 6 day window to activate.
Me neither. I own and have activated both CEs on my main account and miss not having the D3 CE stuff on this account.
But when the dollar value of things are affected, Blizz won’t want more bad publicity.
Though, wings of justice is just the angelic set dungeon wings in a different colour. Maybe i should go complete those set dungeons
