Yeah. Blizzard is having a sale… right now. You can get any Editions of Diablo III for a substantial discount.
The Diablo III: Eternal Collection is currently selling for half the price of the original D3 game alone.
And it includes:
Diablo III
Reaper of Souls
Rise of the Necromancer Pack
You get it as soon as your payment clears. (Don’t have to wait 20 days). It’s automatically registered to your Blizzard Account and you don’t have to worry about getting stuck with a used Game-key.
Note: If you have more than one Account, make sure you use the Account you want the game registered to.
The code that would grant you the wings from the vanilla D3 is the same game key used to attach that CE to your account. The wings that came with Reaper of Souls are no longer available at all - those were limited to pre-orders and CE activations prior to 11:59 PM PST on March 31st, 2014. CE activtaions after that time do not include the wings. The vanilla CE wings do not have such an expiry date, but again, the scam potential is huge for vanilla D3 CEs due to the costs involved. The wings are not worth $300US+.
This is one time that Blizzard should really consider adding these in as a shop purchase, if for no other reason than to protect its players from scams due to a feature so many of them want. The whole special snowflake argument doesn’t really hold water considering that the set dungeon basic wings are essentially a recolor of the vanilla and RoS CE wings. Feeling “special” over a simple palette swap is ludicrous in this day and age.
Yes the code needed to gain the wings is the main key with the CE, the one that is the keycode for the actual base game. It’s not a seperate key to the game keycode, i don’t think any of the digital contents with the CE has separate keys, it’s all included in 1 keycode. The code is printed on a sticky label, which is located inside the DVD case, stuck to the case underneath the DVD.
My recommendation for buying a CE is to buy it from ebay. Ebay has good buyer’s protection and if you buy a used code from a listing that either outright lied or failed to mention that the code was used, you should be able to get your money back from ebay, as long as you use paypal as the payment method. If the listing does not mention anything about the code, message the seller first asking if it has been used or not. If you get scammed (which i think is an over-exaggerated risk if you use your common sense), the message can be provided to ebay as evidence so that you get your money back.
Also don’t expect to find a listing for a CE straight away, not unless you are prepared to pay about 200 euros or 300 US dollars for a new and sealed copy. I was regularly checking ebay for about 2 weeks until i found a listing for an opened box but unused code, at a reasonable price.
A side note, when you upgrade your normal account to a CE account, your old key that you already purchased gets freed up and it can be used to create a second alternative account or even given away to a friend, so it doesn’t have to feel wasted.
I don’t know that this is automated. It may require contacting CS to get assistance with the CE upgrade key. I am not even sure if they still offer a key back. That was in 2012.
Probably right, i think i read somewhere that the old key can be reused but only after contacting blizzard with a support ticket. I hope they would still reactivate the old key, they should even after a few years. But i think it can only be done if the new CE key is used to upgrade an existing account, not when it’s used to create a new account.
If you want the Wings of Valor or Wings of Justice - Drop money on a CE Edition on EBAY. Probably set you back around
Wings of Justice - CE EDITION - $300 AUD
Wings of Valor - CE EDITION - $120 - $150 AUD
If your desperate enough to want wings and are willing to pay that kind of money for a cosmetic . Go for it.
Blizzard arnt going to re-release these though for free.
I have missed out on things due to not purchasing BlizzCon Tickets and I dont expect at all that Blizz is going to release them down the track. That would just make there rarity completely worthless. While id like them to , i dont expect it will happen
Opened box but unused key copies should still be appearing on ebay every so often, you can save quite a bit on money that way. Lots of patience will be required though.
This i was unaware of, Thanks for the Clarity miss Cheetah. I already own both but missed out on BlizzCon InGame Stuff way back , probably never going to get those XMOGS but i learnt my lesson by not getting them when available. Same principle for these Wings i guess
There is a sticky thread over in Items and Crafting that has all the wings, pets, cosmetics, etc. If you ever want to look up how to get any of the stuff for D3.
Good News! Got lucky and found a factory new D3 CE someone was selling online in my country. Took the jump and bought it for roughly 140 USD with shipping. Proud owner of Angel Wings! They look damn cool on my crusader!
Now it’s time to hunt down the cosmics.
MissCheetah, am I understanding this thread properly? Is it accurate to say that if I have an account that already has Wings of Valor and necro pack, that I can purchase an unused CE license and apply it to my account and have the angel wings and also wings of valor? I’m a bit of a cosmetics addict and it would be a boasting point to have angel wings and wings of valor and then also get cosmic wings. I just had never heard that you could “add” CE edition to an existing account. Please advise if that is truly possible.
140 USD was a good price for a new and sealed copy, you got a good deal there. I also bought the CE for the angel wings, but there are some other goodies that make a nice bonus.
How do you like the Diablo skull with D2 installed onto the red soul shard embedded into his head? It’s a cool little collectable i think, i keep mine next to my Fallout 4 CE bobblehead (charisma). The soul shard even glows red when it is plugged in, but i don’t think i will ever play D2 off of it if i’m honest. D4 in the future D2 is dated blah blah.
Yes you can. IF you can find an un-used CE. They are hard to find and you take a big risk buying one. If the key is used then you are out the money.
IF you do manage to find one, contact CS and have them apply the key for you. That way you don’t run into issues and if you ask nicely, they used to give you back a Standard D3 key that you can give away or use on another bnet account. I don’t know if they still do that, but it is worth asking.
