[REPORT] Extended screen range

I’m the OP.

Problem comes naturaly from ultra wide but it can be obtained on every computer just by changing some settings on computer.

The problem is the game that did not set a limit.

I think, the best solution is, to give people their view, but

  • only Show monsters in a 16:9 window
  • as soon as you are hostiled, you get a fog of war, restricting your view and mouse movement to 16:9

This has already been suggested and I think, it is the only way, for people to make use of their ultra wide screen and not to break the game.

not at all there are a special kind of players in this forum thinking of nobody but them self selfish little kids that cant afford an ultra wide or don’t want too spend money on one and it’s not a pay too win investment the main part of this game is pvm and ladder and there is not any major benefit in that mode other then the game look and feels better and they just can’t tolerate it. :sunglasses:

Is having a better internet connection and lower ping also p2w to you?

Very good reasoning here, especially the part, where you explain to me, that I am a kid. Thank you, I didn’t even know that.

So can you explain to me, why it is not pay2win, if I have to pay, to get rid of a disadvantage?

Diablo 2 is 20 years old.

16:9 is already a big change. But it is, imo, the best compromise. It does not affect or change gameplay that much and give us a new way to see diablo II.
Monsters AI is not as much affected by 16:9.
Pvp pov it is cool to move with a bit bigger screen.

Go over 16:9 and the problems come imo.

For the best d2r experience for everybody, the game should be limited at 16:9 (both d2r and legacy also upgraded to this view)

I am not Blizzard I don’t decide but this is for me the most balanced option for a remaster of Diablo II and all this old mecanics.

No, because the devs have no possibility to change anything about your internet. Are we now really at this point?

The point, at which you ask me questions just to argue further, even though you by yourself know the answers to your question?

Your whining about ultra wide is only justified by your personal preference. There is no objective argument for it to be prioritized over fairness.

Also you don’t even try to come up with a concept, that could solve the problem. You just keep saying „i want my ultra wide, no matter what happens to others.“

Yeah and I have no problem with it because I think game looks and feels amazing on 21:9.
You yourself have demands on keeping game 16:9 by YOUR personal preference.
You’re the one whining about them changing things and limiting it to 16:9.

I’m totally up for keeping at least 21:9 res available.

already did pvp is a minority vs the common players like some of you stated 10000 vs 1000000 and of that reason you don’t get too decide if we that have a ultra wide should have black bars most players play ladder and hardcore

No, as I explained to you at least 2 times now (maybe you understand it when I explain it a 3rd time), it is not about my preference. I also think, the game looks better with an ultra wide. But it freaking breaks the game! It introduces unfairness.

What do you think of

?

Maybe try to use dots and Kommata, I get a stroke, reading your answers.

And no I don’t get to decide it, but I think, that a feature breaks the game, is a really good argument against implementing it.

There might be solutions, everyone is happy with, but the „We need ultra wide, screw everyone with 16:9“ is something I can’t accept.

The game is clearly broken with these 32:9 and wider aspect ratios that you can do via windows settings, you can blizzard enemies down from cold plains to black marsh, it is very clearly game breaking and not meant that way. It breaks both pvm and pvp.

This needs to be fixed, that is evident. Whats the point if you kill enemies even before they even aggro you?

It is about your preference because you think that would break the game and introduces unfairness. I just don’t agree with it. If I played on full hd I wouldn’t mind having someone with wide screen in my party. Not at all.

The solution you offer seems nice on paper but when you play the game it would look bad on 21:9.
You would see grass, structures and so on but mobs would just start appearing when you get closer.
Restricting mouse movement to 16:9 in case of let’s say pvp is probably bad for your muscle memory so clicks wouldn’t be as accurate anymore either.

Lol there is absolutely clear evidence to it. This is not a matter of opinions.

In short:

PvP:

  • tactical advantage in PvP
  • advantage by namelocking other players, when they can’t namelock you (btw if you don’t know, what namelocking is, google it, or ask for it, but don’t say there was no problem)

PvM:

  • you see monsters earlier than others
  • you can teleport faster than others

And ofc there is more, but these are the most important ones.

all i can do is recommend you apply for a refund and go play classic d2 lod then you should be happy

No I am ofc not, because as I said before (why do I have to say everything twice with you guys?):

  • 25 FPS sucks
  • old graphics suck
  • no shared stash sucks
  • auto gold pickup is kinda nice
  • new players to play with in D2R

Erm no… it is not, people play D2 these days in a Windows, with the same restriction, but restricted to a smaller format.

But you would mind, if someone teleports on you from where you can’t see him and he starts spamming WW or hammers. You don’t stand a Chance against PK‘ers.

Yes it would, you would play from one side of screen to another and now your mouse range suddenly is different. Of course it plays with your muscle memory.
You do realize that the difference between 21:9 and 16:9 is not that massive.
I could teleport on you like that if you were at the total edge of my screen, otherwise you could see me too. That’s not happening often and is not game breaking.
Plus like op said. If you on your 16:9 play on 1920:800 resolution then there is no difference to it.

Lol no, you have 30% more view…

All I can say is, Blizzard is at the edge of going down… they Need D2R to be a success, otherwise D4 might never be finished. They went down as a company really drastically in the past few years, after sone disasters with WoW, hearthstone, WC3R, Diablo immortal announcement, lawsuits, … it’s the Great work of the old devs, who don’t even work at blizzard anymore, which lets people still buy blizzard games.

If I was a dev at blizzard, I would not risk anything and stay with tho old stuff… these were obviously better games, which is indicated by playbases, the hype around WC3R (before release) and D2R and the stream of players leaving WoW and Overwatch.

Better stick to the stuff that works, instead of enforcing bs. That’s my opinion.

Obv this should be fixed before the game goes live.

The Great BoBaFeTT
