You dont really need ultra wide screen, there will be probably some mods or tweaks to let u stretch fov on your normal square monitor also. Although it will probably look hilarious but there is always a way out
Lol all the people, suggesting to buy a 300€ monitor, that does not even give me 144 FPS. What a joke… paying >300€ to not have a disadvantage. Most ridiculous pay2win ever.

What about releasing the game in a State, which does not give the majority of people a disadvantage, which was announced by the dev team? (No changes in mechanics) Because most people do not have an ultra widescreen, since they are expensive, if you want to have more than 60 FPS.
It is so incredibly stupid, that we are arguing about wether or not the game should be changed to being literally unfair. I have never seen this in another game like that and it tells me, that in this forum obviously a really high amount auf stupid, ignorant people are spreading their non sense.

The only thing you could do, is to have black bars on the top and bottom of 16:9 monitors… but that’s not even better because most screens are way too small then.
The more natural way would be to give black bars on ultra wides.

Yes, for full hd it would be 1920x800 for ultra wide “like” res, got to add this to screen res options and then you might have chance to switch to in in game.
Yeah let’s nerf everything that gives you more vision, better graphics and so on.
If you enjoy your intel pentium experience then have it but don’t ruin other peoples fun while at it.

That’s unfortunate for you, but not at all game breaking! It does not change the gameplay, the mechanics, it does not introduce any unfair tactics!
D2 is old, it is not made for ultra widescreen. You can easily circumvent the problems, D2 has with ultra wide, in newer games like D4. But in D2 you had to change mechanics for that, like namelocking.
How can you guys seriously argue here? This is „a bit more view“ vs. the game becomes unfair for the majority of players… wtf is wrong with you?
I also don’t cry around, that there is no VR, do I? And if there was 1st Person VR possibility, that would break the whole game, because I could see the whole map, I would also not be arguing here, that I want my nice view and idc, that the game breaks then. So freaking egoistic.
And yes, not caring for others, just to have a minor advantage is stupid imo.

You’re blindly stating your own view of what’s right and what’s not.
Saying that’s unfortunate for me is as much not acceptable for me as is apparently wide screen using for you.
It’s remastered version of the game, in my point of view if you dislike those things it’s rather unfortunate for you and maybe you should stick with old d2.
I want to enjoy my setup to the fullest, after upgrading to wide screen I’ve enjoyed every game more.
Your VR example is completely irrelevant. Wide screen would not break the game. I’m 100% sure I’d beat a lot players in pvp while using full hd vs qhd or higher res anyway and in every other part of the game wide screen would look and feel super nice imo.
How are you caring about others by giving them black bars on 2k monitors for example and calling it unfortunate?

Problem isnt ultra wide monitor, you don’t even need an ultra wide monitor to get such stupid screen range (just toy with screen settings). And everybody can buy an ultra wide, it’s not even the problem 
The problem is the unlimited screen range/size/view.
A limit has to be set else the game is POINTLESS.
-D2 players (pvpers or not) understand how game breaking this is for both pvm and pvp. Cause it’s obvious.
-Noobs or die hard casuals still don’t get it and think we are complaining about their super ultra wide screen and we can’t afford it. Like really? Lol.
Even if this is not fixed (and if i still play in that case) i would never buy an ultra wide and play with such moon view because it kills all the challenge of the game.
Whats the point of winning a duel when you start with such stupid advantage ?
Just make the game balanced for everyone, it’s so hard to understand?

As I explained before, your complain is a personal preference to see more, my complain is something, that breaks the game, which was said, not to happen by Blizzard itself. Based on what they said, a lot of people preordered.
No, because the reason, that there is a remaster, is that the old graphics and FPS suck.
and you do not care for the game being fair, neither do you care for others in the slightest. All I can say is, go play other games with your setup, if this is the most important part for you about D2.
Because it is fair. Everyone has the same view. You can’t pay2win. I would also say that, if I had an ultra wide screen standing here, because it is stupid to change the game to be unfair all of a sudden, just for some people to see a bit more.

It is, as explained in great detail by the OP… and we can buy an ultra wide screen, but not everyone can. Shall these people have a disadvantage in the game, just for us to see more?
I do agree though, that the unlimited rescaling is the way bigger problem. But I think, that this will be fixed ASAP. This is so ridiculous, I’m not even worried about them getting rid of it.

Yeah limit should be set in order not to abuse it like you have it in your example but limiting it to 16:9 would be just lame, make it at least 21:9.
I’ve put a lot hours into d2 hc and i’m not noob either die hard casual. I get your point. I also accept that it’s 2021
